CNN Poll: Was Bush better president than Obama?

Buyer's remorse has hit the American heartland hard. Not quite two years since they rejected Bush and the Neocons, they're now forced to reconsider their choice:

Americans are divided over whether President Barack Obama or his predecessor has performed better in the White House, according to a new national poll...

By 47 to 45 percent, Americans say Obama is a better president than George W. Bush. But that two point margin is down from a 23 point advantage one year ago.

The blogosphere is split on this. Most feel sorry for Obama. Others say Bush should rank higher, and feel bad for the former president.

Not me. I feel sorry for the American people.

I have said it a number of times, Bush was a liberal. Why don't the liberals understand that concept? Is it his accent or maybe his "religion" (I kind of doubt his true intents). Regardless, the man did everything a true liberal would love. He started wars, increased the debt, enlarged the government, and on and on.

Amen to that Old Rebel. The slow starting ever increasing in speed ride down or the flat out free fall to hell, some choice.

Who gives a fig about either one of them? They're both the bought dogs of the Corporate interests that actually run this country. I say a pox on both their houses, Marxist and Fascist alike!

I have observed that those who belong to liberal religious groups tend to favor liberal causes.

W, like Bill Clinton, is a United Methodist. I am also United Methodist, but am a bit more conservative than most -- and in any event, I see no inconsistency between liberal religion and libertarian politics.

That said, as far as I am concerned, both Presidents (George W. Bush and Barack Obama) should rank near the bottom of the list.

This begs the question - Was Grant better than Lincoln? Depends on your particular sense of smell...

- Dutchy

In my opinion, Grant was better than Lincoln. He was personally honest and a competent general, though a highly incompetent President.

Lincoln was both competent and dishonest -- an extremely dangerous combination.

In terms of maintaining personal liberty, one can argue that either Jefferson or Jackson was the best President -- in the 20th century, I would vote for Calvin Coolidge.
