Texas board rejects Confederate flag license plates

This is no surprise, not in the age of all-cultures-are-equal-except-one. And the toxic fumes emanating from the usual sources are also to be expected:

Some of the opponents, who outnumbered those at the meeting who spoke in favor of the plates, talked of personal experiences with racism, saying that it lingers in Texas today and that the Confederate flag represents that state of mind.

"We know that flag is a true symbol of people that hate," said Gary Bledsoe, Texas State NAACP Conference president.

You want hate, Mr. Bledsoe? Here's the real thing, from Lee Alcorn, the president of the Dallas NAACP, condemning the nomination of Sen. Joseph Lieberman as vice-president in 2000:

“If we get a Jew person, then what I’m wondering is, I mean, what is this movement for, you know? Does it have anything to do with the failed peace talks?”

“So I think we need to be very suspicious of any kind of partnerships between the Jews at that kind of level because we know that their interest primarily has to do with money and these kind of things.”

Of course, those who point accusing fingers at others are often hiding their own shortcomings. But will Bledsoe admit this? I doubt it. What a blowhard.

texas can go suck an egg. they arent true americans and dont really want secession. the southron peoples have to continue to fight this matter its a matter of heritage and a way of peoples . !!!! ON the other hand , license plates is against the organic constitution and against sovereignty and the right to travel unless for commercial purposes .. Georgia where dixie still stands actually had a bill in october of last year to allow people to travel without govt intrusive money grubbin violatin laws ... although it was written poorly , they don't seem to understand Unalienable as opposed to INalienable.. but at least its an honest attempt to git the people their kinda rights back cowboymav

Does this mean there won't be any star of David licence plates?

Honorable Means, good suggestion.

PS, how do you wade through the Silmarillion? Love Tolkien, but couldn't get through that one.

I'm much older now than the last time I tried reading it, maybe I should give it another shot.

A couple of months ago I went to one of the Texas newspapers that had a story with negative opinion on the plate. The comments that were written in for discussion were astonishingly naïve. One stated they were against the plate because it honored the drunken Southerners that established Texas. Another said that they were ashamed of their state, knowing the way it had been established. Not being from Texas, I don’t know if these idiots are the home grown type, or transplanted from elsewhere. Since many reiterated the same line of nonsense, I assumed they had gotten it from somewhere else – puppets too foolish to know any better. Texas has had incredible growth; apparently, the growth in idiots is a sizable portion of it. .

Allow me to state that EVERYONE in Texas did not reject the license plates. Also, more than a few people here would find secession just peachy.

I've read the Silmarillion, Northwestern Localist. It's a good book, but it is an incredibly dense read. I got through it like eating an elephant, one bite at a time.

What a terrible disappointment :-(

But this isn't the will of the people. This is the will of the professional political class - those who live off the hard work of others and want to keep it that way.

You can be sure there are plenty of true Texans in Texas - with the Bonnie Blue flying in their hearts.
