Electing A New People: The Case of Libya’s Muammar Kaddafi

Steve Sailer points out that the sub-Saharan militias loyal to Kaddafi were imported to strengthen Libya's ties to the rest of Africa, with the ultimate goal to forge a pan-African union with you-know-who in charge.

I believe it. It sounds exactly like what DC is doing these days. I've long argued that DC's quest for "benevolent global hegemony" and open borders are closely related. Single-issue groups that focus on illegal immigration or interventionism alone are chasing their tails -- the real problem will always evade them. The only solution is to downsize DC or escape from its rule.

Lincoln, evil?

Looks like the "revisionist history" pro-Southern historians and economists write about today regarding Lincoln the dictator is what "liberal and progressive" Britons thought about Lincoln back in the 1860s.

Farrakhan: Mideast uprisings will come to US

Farrakhan is back in the news! In addition to praising L. Ron Hubbard for his attempts to "civilize" white people and "make them better human beings," Louis made this strange prediction:

Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America faces imminent uprisings that mirror those in the Middle East.

“What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt … Libya, in Bahrain … what you see happening there … you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door,” Farrakhan said in a booming voice, thousands of followers cheering in his wake.

Farrakhan also called on President Barack Obama to allow protesters to march, urging the president not to attack innocent people when they do.

Hmmm. So Farrakhan thinks Obama will allow the US government to be replaced by peaceful marchers? Interesting.

Want some real hate?

No, this isn't Norwegian Shooter. This union protestor's message can be summarized as "anti-union = racist = Southern" (check out his sign). This loopy, chest-thumping, big talker foams at the mouth as he makes his wild threats, but then suddenly slinks away. Bizarre, yet typical.

WARNING: This is a leftist rant, so the language is pretty coarse.

UPDATE: Jesse Jackson agrees with the union nutcase:

Across the country, just as in the civil rights movement, people of conscience are holding vigils and protests in support. This is a Martin Luther King moment.

The effort by the governor and his right-wing allies to divide private sector workers from public sector workers is an old trick. In the South, race was used to divide. The tricks perfected in the South - right-to-work laws, barriers to unions - are now coming north.

Madison, like Selma, is not a major city. It isn't Chicago or New York or Los Angeles. And it isn't Cairo. It is the epicenter of the battle for America's democracy, and it is as American as Lexington, Concord, Gettysburg, Montgomery and Selma.

If Jesse Jackson says it, it must be true.

Grandma Got Run Over by a Potok

The scaremongers at the SPLC have hit a new low -- and you didn't think it was possible. Their latest "Intelligence Report" screams about the explosive, horrifying, bloodcurdling, etc., growth of hate groups, which apparently are organizations that don't donate to the SPLC, or at least La Raza. I mean, really -- Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement is a "nativist extremist" group? People who want existing immigration laws enforced are extremist? Which makes me wonder -- are there any "alienist extremist" groups on the SPLC radar? People like this, for example:

No, they're not a problem. But a grandmother who tells you how to can food in case of emergency IS. Here's the Warrior Granny's reaction to her inclusion on the SPLC blacklist:

Yep the Southern Poverty law Center (SPLC) has included the Warrior Granny as one of the Big Bad Boys? WOW ! How did this happen? Does just scribbling down your thoughts make you a threat to humanity or our country, or a threat to those that thrive on the division manifested by such groups as the SPLC and the ACLU ?

When you think about hate groups these two certainly should be in the top ten.

For years I was a member of the NAACP until I realized the people in charge were becoming more and more racist and divisive. Pandering to those that would sell their souls and decency for a dollar.

In any event, I am listed under the North Carolina list and feel very priviledged to be associated with such a elevated group.

Welcome to the club, Warrior Granny.

The evil, racist South

The post entitled "Texas demographer: 'It's basically over for Anglos'" warned that the average Mexican educational and economic performance is significantly lower than whites, and that uncontrolled Mexican migration into Texas was a direct threat to the Texas economy and quality of life. That prompted our resident leftist troll Norwegian Shooter to share these insights:

Damn, this is ignorant. You know there was just as much stupidity and bile directed at Irish immigration, don't you? You know - your ancestors?

And here's an idea, give Latino immigrants an equal chance at an education and economic success. That might improve their HS diploma rate.

And of course biological race doesn't exist. But color, language, culture do. And discrimination based on these factors is obviously alive, well, and not likely to disappear. Get a clue.

Oh, and your precious South managed to keep the brothers down very effectively, even were they were numerically larger, for a hundred years after they were freed. So you'll go to your grave without too much change, don't worry.

Well. I took his advice and decided to get a clue. As you can see from his profile, Norwegian Shooter lives and blogs from the enlightened State of Minnesota. So I Googled "test results school White Black Hispanic." Here are the results of the 2009-2010 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment-II, which tested student proficiency in reading in grades 3 through 8 and 10, in math in grades 3 through 8 and 11, and in science in grades 5 and 8:

White - 88%
Black - 38%
Hispanic - 34%

White - 91%
Black - 45%
Hispanic - 58%

White - 61%
Black - 9%
Hispanic - 7%

Then I Googled "minnesota average income white hispanic black." Here are the 2009 figures for median incomes in Minnesota:

White - $57,979
Black - $26,930
Hispanic - $38,751

The Minnesota Budget Project, which compiled the income figures, added this observation:

"Black households in Minnesota fell below the median income for their counterparts nationally."

Then I Googled "pro-Southern blog whup hypocritical leftists" and got this.

Gates warns Against Wars Like Iraq and Afghanistan

What? A sane comment from a Secretary of Mayhem Defense? Yes, it really happened:

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates bluntly told an audience of West Point cadets on Friday that it would be unwise for the United States to ever fight another war like Iraq or Afghanistan, and that the chances of carrying out a change of government in that fashion again were slim.

“In my opinion, any future defense secretary who advises the president to again send a big American land army into Asia or into the Middle East or Africa should ‘have his head examined,’ as General MacArthur so delicately put it,” Mr. Gates told an assembly of Army cadets here.

Of course, it's okay to send an itty-bitty army.

Texas demographer: 'It's basically over for Anglos'

What will happen if efforts to stop the Latinization of America, almost all at the State and local level, and if full defiance of the social engineers in DC, should fail? If DC's de facto open borders policy continues, then our civilization dies:

Looking at population projections for Texas, demographer Steve Murdock concludes: "It's basically over for Anglos."

Two of every three Texas children are now non-Anglo and the trend line will become even more pronounced in the future, said Murdock, former U.S. Census Bureau director and now director of the Hobby Center for the Study of Texas at Rice University.

Today's Texas population can be divided into two groups, he said. One is an old and aging Anglo and the other is young and minority. Between 2000 and 2040, the state's public school enrollment will see a 15 percent decline in Anglo children while Hispanic children will make up a 213 percent increase, he said.

Murdock doesn't believe that making Latinos the majority group will herald the glorious birth of a multicultural paradise. Instead, he warns, the impact on our economy will be devastating:

The state's future looks bleak assuming the current trend line does not change because education and income levels for Hispanics lag considerably behind Anglos, he said.

Unless the trend line changes, 30 percent of the state's labor force will not have even a high school diploma by 2040, he said. And the average household income will be about $6,500 lower than it was in 2000. That figure is not inflation adjusted so it will be worse than what it sounds.

"It's a terrible situation that you are in. I am worried," Murdock said.

Looks like Mr. Murdock hasn't attended the "Race doesn't exist" exhibit the American Anthropological Association is sponsoring. Since we're all interchangeable, it doesn't matter if Latinos become the majority. So there's really nothing to worry about. Go back to watching American Idol.

Arizona Senate passes nullification bill

Now this is how you stop a toxic central government:

State senators voted Thursday to let lawmakers nullify federal laws -- but not before refusing to give Pima County permission to secede to avoid all the embarrassment.

The measure, given preliminary approval on a voice vote, would set up a committee empowered to review all past and future federal actions to determine whether they are constitutional. That panel's recommendations of unconstitutionality would go to the full Legislature.

It would take only a simple majority of lawmakers to declare the action null and void. And if that happens, "this state and its citizens shall not recognize or be obligated to live under the statute, mandate or executive order.''

Sen. Lori Klein, R-Anthem, said the U.S. Constitution gives the federal government only limited powers.

"This gives our body the ability to look at Obamacare and some other things that actually will throw this state into the Third World country that we don't want to be," she said. Klein said federal mandates are "actually bankrupting with some of the laws that are being passed that I would deem to say are unconstitutional."

Klein is absolutely right -- turning the US into a Third-World country is exactly what DC intends to do, all in the name of American values such as equality, diversity, and the legacy of Martin Luther King. (See today's posting on Texas demographics.) But those values translate into self-destruction as a worthy goal. Thank God someone in local government understands that.

Equality, the government's favorite battering ram

In an editorial entitled, 'All persons are created equal,' unless they're gay? the oh-so-politically correct editorialists of The Charlotte Observer denounced Sen. Jim Forrester of Gaston County for introducing an amendment to North Carolina's Constitution that would recognize marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

Forrester's unenlightened amendment, claim the anonymous editorialists, runs counter to the leftist notion of absolute, theoretical equality of all persons, which all Americans supposedly acknowledge as the nation's supreme defining value. Worse, they argue, such an amendment would be in open defiance of President Obama's new policy of not enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act. Yes, it would. But such defiance would go against Article I, Section 5 of the North Carolina Constitution, which says, "Every citizen of this State owes paramount allegiance to the Constitution and government of the United States, and no law or ordinance of the State in contravention or subversion thereof can have any binding force."

Yes, it would. But that provision was only imposed on North Carolinians as a result of Reconstruction; in other words, at the point of a gun. So to those who criticize us Southern paleocons for framing modern issues within the context of the War for Southern Independence, we can only say that the Lincolnian regime is based on force and fraud, and is therefore illegitimate. Only by understanding that basic fact can we hope to resist the increasingly authoritarian and radical central government.

Also, it's interesting how the meaning of equality has mutated from "equality before the law" to "equality of condition." And if you think leftist equality has steered us into some bizarre directions already, well, you ain't seen nothing yet. In Montreal, for example, Members of Parliament heard the "expert" testimony of Dr. Hubert Van Gijseghem, who informed the MPs that pedophilia was "a sexual orientation just like heterosexuality or homosexuality."

Yes, pedophiles are no different from you or me. That's what abstract equality has to lead to, sooner or later -- IF we fail to understand our own history and the intentions of the Founders.

At least five dead in Iraqi 'day of rage' protests

Here's the latest DC puppet regime to face down an angry subject population:

At least five people have been killed in anti-government protests in Iraq as thousands take to the streets in cities across the country for a "day of rage".

Baghdad has been virtually locked down, with the authorities banning traffic in the city centre and deploying several thousand soldiers on the streets.

But -- Iraqis enjoy a DC-approved government put in place by their benevolent American liberators. They can't have anything to riot about. Right?

What ingrates. Say, do you think we'll have to invade Iraq again if its people overthrow their American-backed government?

Army Deploys Psy-Ops on U.S. Senators

Here's how self-serving and corrupt the Empire's Standing Army has become:

The U.S. Army illegally ordered a team of soldiers specializing in "psychological operations" to manipulate visiting American senators into providing more troops and funding for the war, Rolling Stone has learned – and when an officer tried to stop the operation, he was railroaded by military investigators.

Over a four-month period last year, a military cell devoted to what is known as "information operations" at Camp Eggers in Kabul was repeatedly pressured to target visiting senators and other VIPs who met with Caldwell. When the unit resisted the order, arguing that it violated U.S. laws prohibiting the use of propaganda against American citizens, it was subjected to a campaign of retaliation.

And the leftist media denounced the Oath Keepers, whose members take an oath that they will not obey illegal orders. Sounds to me like we need more Oath Keepers.

Leapin' Lincoln!

I wasn't familiar with this story of Abe Lincoln jumping from the window of the Illinois House of Representatives building to prevent a vote against the State Bank.

Wisconsin Democrats have quite a legacy to inspire them!

Could Pima County secede from Arizona?

I've long supported the idea of leftists seceding to form their own little Liberal Dystopias. People should have the sort of government that supports their own values, and if the idea of wanting to preserve Western civilization is repugnant to them, then by all means, they should leave -- we'll all be better off.

So this news item about the latest American secession movement, this time in south Arizona, should be welcomed by all:

A political committee comprised of a handful of attorneys, including the former chairman of the Pima County Democratic Party, have established a political committee dedicated to helping Southern Arizona secede from the rest of the state.

Start Our State, which is asking other like-minded counties to join the effort, is hoping to put the question before Pima County voters in 2012.

Co-chair Paul Eckerstrom said it’s not a joke and not a political statement. He said the state legislature has gone too far to the right, particularly with a round of measures to challenge federal supremacy.

“This really does border on them saying they don’t want to be part of the Union any longer,” he said. “Well, I want to be part of the United States.”

Anyone who wants to be part of a murderous empire that enriches itself on innocent blood all around the world while propping up the rich and powerful with the earnings of the middle class should have the right to choose.

And those who reject that empire have the same right.

(By the way, notice that this is being pushed by the Pima County Democratic Party. So the next time someone tries to tell you that secession is only for crazy right-wingers, remind them of this inconvenient fact.)

UPDATE: Wonder of wonders -- Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs likes this secession proposal.

What a 'Hate Group' Hates: A Counterintelligence Report

Thomas DiLorenzo does his own investigation of the League of the South. His conclusion: It does hate certain things. Click here to see what they are -- and to see if you might share our feelings.

Southern Poverty Law Center Still Peddling Lie That Giffords Shooter Was Right-Winger

Of course, the SPLC peddling lies is as newsworthy as Jesse Jackson shaking down corporations for personal gain. But the liberal media quotes the SPLC unquestioningly, and a lot of people are going to accept their self-serving distortions as factual. Legal Insurrection has a big problem with that:

The SPLC report is just another fundraising tool, but it is not harmless.

The damage SPLC does with such posturing is very real, as buried in that list of 1000+ supposed active hate groups probably are some groups we need to keep an eye on.

We just don't know which ones, because SPLC has so politicized the process that it is impossible to separate the potentially violent from the politically incorrect.

But that's the whole idea: As DC's outsourced Inquisition, the SPLC wants to make it impossible for people to discriminate between violent nutcases and dissenters. They're all the same, and are therefore to be shunned and silenced.

All Your Thoughts Are Belong To U.S.

A Federal judge rules:

It is pure semantics to argue that an individual who makes a choice to forgo health insurance is not “acting,” especially given the serious economic and health-related consequences to every individual of that choice. Making a choice is an affirmative action, whether one decides to do something or not do something.

As Legal Insurrection observes: "Our thoughts are now actions. There literally is nothing the federal government cannot regulate provided there is even a hypothetical connection to the economy, even if the connection at most is in the future."

Do you support equality for homosexuals? Do you embrace diversity? Do you support the latest War against Terror?

No? Then keep it to yourself. Otherwise, expect visitors.

Indiana lawmakers pass immigration curbs like Arizona

Good for the Indiana Senate! The numbers show this bill had a lot of grassroots support:

The Indiana senate passed a sweeping immigration bill that echoes Arizona's tougher measures on illegal immigrants and despite opposition from some of the largest employers and business groups in the state.

The measure, passed on Tuesday night by a vote of 31-18, would allow state and local police to ask a person stopped for infractions like traffic violations for proof of legal residency if the officer has a "reasonable suspicion" they may be in the country illegally.

Guess they didn't get the SPLC diktat prohibiting the people of the States from doing the job the Feds won't do.

Obama drops defense of law against gay marriage

Don't look now, but Obama just vetoed (nullified?) a law passed before he entered the Awful Office:

President Barack Obama has ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage for federal purposes as only between a man and woman, according to a statement Wednesday from Attorney General Eric Holder.

"The president has concluded that given a number of factors, including a documented history of discrimination, classifications based on sexual orientation should be subject to a more heightened standard of scrutiny," Holder said.

The key provision in the law "fails to meet that standard and is therefore unconstitutional."

Obama promised to change the country. He's doing it.

Who supported Qadhafi?

Qadhafi, the Libyan dictator who's promised to make like Lincoln and kill those countrymen who don't accept his rule, once hired Iraq War mastermind Richard Perle to buff up his public image:

Prominent neoconservative Richard Perle, the former Reagan-era Defense Department official and George W. Bush-era chairman of the Defense Policy Board, traveled to Libya twice in 2006 to meet with Qadhafi, and afterward briefed Vice President Dick Cheney on his visits, according to documents released by a Libyan opposition group in 2009.

Let's not forget that it was Qadhafi who ordered the Lockerbie bombing that killed 270 people.

The question then is: Do Neocons screw up everything they touch because they're totally clueless, or simply unprincipled? I don't know. I just don't know.

Montana House nullifies federal Endangered Species Act

And Brian Schweitzer, the Democratic governor, doesn't like it! Says it makes Montana look like 1860 South Carolina:

On Saturday, the House voted 61-39 for a bill to nullify the federal Endangered Species Act in Montana. All House Democrats and seven Republicans voted against it.

Other nullification bills and resolutions have taken aim at federal health-reform laws, food-safety legislation and the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority on greenhouse gases.

One bill would set up a permanent legislative commission to review all federal law for potential nullification; a resolution endorsed Monday by a House panel says Montana can protect itself against “federal incursion” that violates personal freedoms.

Schweitzer walked unannounced into a House Democrats’ meeting Monday morning and started talking about the nullification bills, saying they don’t represent Montana values and “make us look like we’re harkening back to the days of South Carolina” and the Civil War.

But governor, if the people of the sovereign States don't restrain a runaway central government, who will? The Supreme Court?

The SPLC: The Liberal Inquisition

With dark warnings of "a great deal of criminal violence" and "an enormous number of plots" emanating from the impure, unenlightened minds of those condemned as "hate groups," the Southern Poverty Law Center ONCE AGAIN announces "a big rise in hate groups across the country." NPR broadcast the SPLC's latest panic alert this morning, transcribed here.

Of course the SPLC sees more hate groups -- first of all, what it views as a "hate group" is purely subjective, so it keeps adding new ones. Mark Potok even admits this. Any organization that opposes the leftist agenda is a target. Mainstream conservative groups such as the Federation for Immigration Reform and the Family Research Council qualify under the SPLC's loosey goosey criteria. And both FAIR and FRC have responded vigorously to the SPLC's slander.

The SPLC's dishonest implication that such groups as FAIR and the Family Research Council are breeding domestic terrorism is aimed at silencing conservatives and any other dissenters against big government. The SPLC's ties with the Department of Homeland Security are extremely troubling, and should concern anyone who cares about free speech.

The SPLC's abuses have prompted a sizeable backlash, prompting such notable figures as Majority Leader-elect Eric Cantor; Mike Huckabee; Tim Pawlenty; Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana; Ken Cuccinelli, the Attorney General of Virginia; and even the American College of Pediatricians to sign a petition against the SPLC's deceptive practices.

And the bottom line for the SPLC's constant fear-mongering is the bottom line -- the more hate groups it can conjure up, the more donations pour in from gullible liberals.

Iraqi convicted of murder in Ariz. "honor killing"

In a shameful act of cultural insensitivity, a jury of Arizonans, all from the same state that passed draconian anti-immigrant legislation last April, ruled Iraqi immigrant Faleh Almaleki guilty of the murder of his 20-year-old daughter.

Clearly, the jurors failed to grasp the richness of a culture with different values than their own, and imposed their own parochial values on an immigrant father who believed his daughter had become "too westernized" and had "brought disrespect to the family."

Coming at a time when the Federal government, the media, and academia are in an all-out war to de-Westernize America, the Arizona jury's actions are at the very least inept, and possibly treasonous.

The Plain Truth on Presidents' Day

Loyal reader Dan sends this:

In case you didn't see this [no, I didn't!], it's Judge Napolitano's negative views on Lincoln that aired last night on Fox business with special guests DiLorenzo and Woods.

I am surprised that Fox, or frankly any mainstream news network, would have allowed him to air this. [so am I!] Eric Foner, the most recent winner of the anti-Southern vitriol award (the Lincoln prize) must be freaking out.

Thanks, Dan!

Speaking of that creaking commie-hugger Foner, I heard him yesterday on NPR doing his usual Saint Abraham nonsense. I bet this made him mess his Depends.

Government debt exceeds the size of the entire economy

As we try to comprehend the staggering size of DC's debt, remember that the States must comply with many mandates, such as No Child Left Behind and Medicaid. When you total all government debt, you're looking at REAL money -- money we ain't got:

The daunting tower of national, state and local debt in the United States will reach a level this year unmatched just after World War II and already exceeds the size of the entire economy, according to government estimates.

But any similarity between 1946 and now ends there. The U.S. debt levels tumbled in the years after World War II, but today they are still climbing and even deep cuts in spending won't completely change that for several years. ...

But today the U.S. economy is in a polar opposite condition. The labor force is aging, U.S. manufacturing often lags behind Asian and European rivals, households are in hock up to their eyeballs, and consumer appetite for goods is tepid. In addition, inflation is tame and government spending locked into entitlement programs and debt service that will be hard or impossible to alter.

To paraphrase General Norman Schwarzkopf, managing our economy without DC is like deer hunting without an accordion.

Arizona university opens civility center after shooting

If Robby the Robot got wind of this story, he'd be waving his mechanical arms yelling, "Danger, Will Robinson, danger!"

Former presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush will team up to serve as honorary chairmen of a new center created at the University of Arizona to advance the national conversation taking place about civility in political debate, university officials will announce Monday.

The creation of the institute comes in the aftermath of the January 8 shootings at a Tucson Safeway store where six people were killed and 13 hurt, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.). ...

In a statement released by the University of Arizona, Bush said he was honored to join Clinton in "supporting this important effort at such a critical time in our nation's history."

In the same statement, Clinton said, "I believe that the National Institute for Civil Discourse can elevate the tone of dialogue in our country, and in so doing, help us to keep moving toward 'a more perfect union.'"

Just the fact that "Honest Bill" Clinton has inserted his greasy self into this project is a neon red flag. "Civility" in Imperial America translates into "Shut your mouths and do what your handlers tell you." Then they can snooker, shame, and strong-arm us into their vision of "a more perfect union."

Fun Fact! "The Union" is what citizens of the former USSR called the Soviet Empire ("Soyuz")." Isn't that an interesting coincidence?

The Catastrophic Failure of European Multiculturalism

When the heads of European states admit multiculturalism is a failure, and anti-multicult parties surge in numbers and passion, it's time to pay attention to the problem. Sadly, many areas of France are already lost:

France has some 751 "No Go" zones. The French government has labeled these areas "sensitive urban zones" that are dangerous for whites and non-Muslims to enter.

So the question is: Is it too late for us?

Ninth annual Abbeville Conference

The Cape Fear Club
Wilmington, North Carolina
February 24-27, 2011

Southerners are rightly known as a people who value the military arts; have excelled in them; and have been inordinately represented in America s military history. What is not so apparent is the strong, if not predominant, tradition of Southern opposition to foreign war. This view of the military is defensive, embodying the virtue of loyalty and the duty to respond to offenses against honor. Southern leaders have perhaps been less motivated than other Americans by the ideological rationales given for U.S. wars ( freeing the slaves, saving the world for democracy, etc.). Many respectable and eloquent Southern voices have been raised against most U.S. wars, and on grounds different from those of the anti-war left.

The solution in Afghanistan: Get out

Walter Jones, a paleoconservative from North Carolina, has co-authored this appeal to end the insane war in Afghanistan. In the name of spreading democracy to the Afghans, whether they want it or not, American taxpayers are propping up one of the most repressive and corrupt regimes on the planet at a projected total cost of $6 trillion dollars.

Then there's the human cost:

At 112 months, this is the longest war in our history. More than 1,400 American service members have lost their lives in Afghanistan; over 8,800 have been wounded in action. Tens of thousands have suffered other disabilities or psychological harm. The Pentagon reported in November that suicide rates are soaring among veterans; the backlog at the Department of Veterans Affairs had reached more than 700,000 disability cases, according to NPR, including post-traumatic stress disorder.

To get an idea of what American troops face in Afghanistan, check out this video. Warning: It's not for the squeamish, nor for those who imagine war to be a glamorous adventure. No wonder the suicide rate is climbing in the armed forces.

Of course, Lockheed Martin and the other war profiteers will whine that Jones wants to ruin their cash flow. And who's going to provide campaign contributions to all those manly, patriotic politicians who always vote for war?

Caleb T. Maupin Protests Fascists

Oh, joy! Rapture! Caleb T. Maupin, my favorite communist, is back. This ginger-headed, flesh-and-blood lampoon of "antifa" ideology is impossible to parody. Here's a partial transcript of his anti-Constitution, anti-Ron Paul rant:

The Constitution was written by white landowners who wanted to preserve their wealth. We need a new Constitution, a Constitution written by the working class. ... I want a Constitution that says that health care is a right. I want a Constitution that says that a job is a right. I want a Constitution that says I have the right to see a doctor when I'm sick ... and that I can marry whoever I want. We don't need to hide behind a document written in 1776, we don't need 1776, we ned 1917 ... long live the Russian Revolution! ... Ron Paul is a bigot and a capitalist and a fascist!

Isn't it amazing that these champions of reason cannot grasp the contradiction of a small-government fascist? Amazing.

Like the potty-mouth bullies who threatened Jared Taylor in Charlotte last month, this clown thinks he's showing off his virtue and moral superiority. "We're sooo good, and our enemies are soooo evil."

Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell blocks ObamaCare

This should be an interesting fight. Governor Parnell is basing his stand on a ruling by a Florida judge, who ruled the health care mandate unconstitutional.

What's really interesting is that Parnell is no friend of States' Rights or self-determination, and once opposed efforts by the Alaskan Independence Party for a referendum on Alaskan secession.

Keep it up, Mr. President -- your socialist schemes are effective recruiters for the Cause.

It's an angry world out there!

Anti-government protests in Cairo, Iraqi Kurdistan, Bahrain, and -- Wisconsin?

Baghdad wants U.S. to pay $1 billion for damage to city

What ingrates these Iraqis are:

The city's government issued its demands in a statement on Wednesday that said Baghdad's infrastructure and aesthetics have been seriously damaged by the American military.

"The U.S. forces changed this beautiful city to a camp in an ugly and destructive way, which reflected deliberate ignorance and carelessness about the simplest forms of public taste," the statement said.

"Due to the huge damage, leading to a loss the Baghdad municipality cannot afford...we demand the American side apologize to Baghdad's people and pay back these expenses."

What they call "deliberate ignorance and carelessness" is what the US government calls "standard operating procedures."

Letter from a reader

Robert writes:

Mike - I'm here in Shanghai again and can't access Rebellion Blog, so am reduced to having to read the Party organ "China Daily News" to find out what's going on in the world. Very little info available here related to secessionism or Ron Paul.

There's something else the Communist and DemoRepublican Parties have in common. It's not just borrowed money that unites them, but a shared fear of constitutional self-government.

China unloads more US debt holdings

Hmmm -- after four straight months of buying more of DC's spiralling debt, the Chinese sell off some of their holdings.

Nothing to see here, folks -- move along.

Obama and Republicans extend Patriot Act

So tell me again what the difference is between the two big-government parties? Both think the Bill of Rights doesn't apply anymore.

SC State Senator: “If at first you don't secede, try again”

As I've ranted before, it's waaaay past time to retire that oh-so-clever title. C'mon, people -- you can do better.

Okay, now that I've got that out of my system, I can tell you this Examiner article is worth reading. It asks a very basic question: Do our State governments have the responsibility for planning for their constituents' economic well-being in case existing Federal economic institutions collapse?

This isn't an academic exercise. Quite a few people of various political persuasions are increasingly concerned about the Federal Reserve System. With DC clearly unable to stop its insane spending habits, we need other State leaders to explore alternative currencies:

State Senator Lee Bright (R-Roebuck) has introduced a bill which states in part; "Whereas, the present monetary and banking systems of the United States, centered around the Federal Reserve System, have come under ever-increasing strain during the last several years, and will be exposed to ever-increasing and predictably debilitating strain in the years to come."

And Bright's legislation also states, “many widely recognized experts predict the inevitable destruction of the Federal Reserve System's currency through hyperinflation in the foreseeable future.”

The article notes that State leaders in Georgia and Virginia are also exploring alternative currencies for their States. Now is the time to consider options, rather than waiting for DC's house of maxed-out credit cards to tumble.

Lincoln lied, people died

This great article by Ilana Mercer joins the growing chorus proclaiming the Lincoln Myth a lie:

Lincoln lovers like to claim that the Constitution ratified in 1788 forbade peaceful secession and authorized a federal government of so-called limited, delegated powers to invade and occupy any seceding state, declare martial law, subdue secessionists by force, burn and ransack entire cities and then establish a military dictatorship over those states lasting a dozen years.

Suppose this indeed is the case, and that it was perfectly constitutional to intentionally wage war on civilians, to imprison without trial thousands of Northern citizens, jail – even execute – people who refused to take an oath of loyalty to Lord Lincoln, declare martial law, confiscate private property, censor telegraph lines and shut down newspapers for opposing the war, incarcerating their editors and owners. Say, for the sake of argument, that it was indeed lawful to suspend the Bill of Rights, the writ of habeas corpus and the international law.

If it endorsed, or even accommodated, what Lincoln did, including his disregard for the Ninth and 10th Amendments, and his violation of the Second, then the Constitution is categorically evil and self-contradictory.

Lincoln didn't "save" the Union, which was a voluntary association of free people. Instead, Lincoln led a successful counter-revolution against the principles of 1776. Thanks to Lincoln, it is the government that is sovereign, and if a few hundred thousand must be sacrificed to preserve that government, then so be it.

Rep. Lacy Clay's wife is "devastated" she learned about divorce through media

Here's the latest on Rep. Lacy Clay:

The St. Louis Post Dispatch has been keeping tabs on Rep. Lacy Clay's (D-Mo.) impending divorce. Sadly, it was news - literally - to Clay's wife, Ivie.

Yesterday the St. Louis Dispatch reported that the congressman had his divorced filings sealed. (This after a reporter asked to see the file.)

And today, Ivie Clay released a stinging statement regarding her husband, whom she married in 1992 when he was a state senator. Turns out, Ivie and her children found out about the divorce only through the media.

Gee, you'd think getting rid of him would've been welcome news.

Rebel frosh play by D.C. rules

coopt, verb: to assimilate, take, or win over into a larger or established group: The fledgling Labor party was coopted by the socialist party.

Here's an even more graphic example of cooptation:

In the battle between Washington and the tea party, Washington is winning among the Senate’s Republican freshmen.

Many have hired lobbyists and other D.C. insiders to run their offices. Ten of the 13 GOP freshmen have shunned any formal affiliation to the tea party. And most are quick to follow marching orders from Republican leadership. They rarely speak on the Senate floor, they haven’t been introducing much legislation. And they’ve been quietly loyal on roll call votes.

When called on by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky — an establishment Republican if there ever was one — freshmen have jumped at the opportunity to travel overseas, appear with GOP leaders at news conferences and give the official response to President Barack Obama’s weekly radio address.

All this makes them, well, quite senatorial — which is a sharp departure from the anti-establishment, anti-Washington attitude they brought to the campaign trail last year.

Remember in The Godfather how the idealistic Michael Corleone became the most ruthless godfather of them all when he took over the "family business"? An institution built on power and violence will corrupt even the most well-intentioned. That's why we warn people that DC is inherently unreformable, and that the only means of solving our problems, from illegal immigration to restoring fiscal sanity, must come from the people of the States -- which is precisely why we're seeing so many State sovereignty movements these days.

Here's the rest of the exchange the Godfather quote in our photo is taken from:

Michael: My father is no different than any powerful man, any man with power, like a president or senator.
Kay Adams: Do you know how naive you sound, Michael? Presidents and senators don't have men killed.
Michael: Oh. Who's being naive, Kay?

Violent Clashes Break Out In Bahrain, Home To US Navy's 5th Fleet

The DC Empire continues its meltdown.

So THAT’s What Has the Ruling Class’s Panties in a Wad

Posted by Thomas DiLorenzo on February 14, 2011 03:19 PM

Since the Southern Poverty Pimp (Oops, I mean, Law) Center recently lied by calling me a “longtime activist” of the League of the South (Based on the fact that I spoke to a few dozen students about 19th century tariff and monetary economics over a two-day period at one of their events over a decade ago) I thought I’d look at the “League” Web site to see what generates so much unmitigated hatred at the SPLC, some of the dumber members of Congress, Paul Krugman, Dana Milbanks, and various assorted leftist knuckleheads. I think I found what I was looking for.

In the “League” Declaration of Southern Cultural Independence they state that the cultural heritage they wish to preserve consists of “faith, family, tradition, community, private property, loyalty, courage, honour.”

On the issue of race, they say “true Constitutional government would provide protection to all law-abiding citizens” regardless of race, creed, or anything else.

The League says it “disavows a spirt of malice and extends an offer of good will and cooperation to all Southern blacks . . .”

Most of the rest of the site contains strongly worded denunciations of the federal welfare/warfare state. This of course is what really bugs the Southern Poverty Pimp Center and its comrades.

Southern Discomfort

This article gets a five-gallon-barf-bucket warning, but it's worth enduring just to see the liberal mind at work. It argues that the South is completely lost to the Democrats; that the 2010 election marks the separation of the South from the rest of America politically.

Despite those facts, says the author, the Democrats cannot give up on the South, because only they can transform the Lost Region into a diversity-lovin', multiracial, socialist paradise.

If I didn't despise the GOP so much, I'd change my registration to Republican just to send a message to this jerk.

A Redneck from Alabama walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the loan officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Paris for an international redneck festival for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000 and that he was not a depositor of the bank.

The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so the Redneck handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was parked on the street in front of the bank. The Redneck produced the title and everything checked out. The loan officer agreed to hold the car as collateral for the loan and apologized for having to charge 12% interest.

Later, the bank's president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the Redneck from the South for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral for a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank's private underground garage and parked it.

Two weeks later, the Redneck returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest of $23.07. The loan officer said, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out on Dunn & Bradstreet and found that you are a distinguished Alumni from the University of Alabama, a highly sophisticated investor and Multi-Millionaire with real estate and financial interests all over the world. Your investments include a large number of wind turbines around Sweetwater, Texas. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?"

The good ol' Alabama boy replied, "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $23.07 and expect it to be there when I return?"

Canadian court tackling polygamy question

Here we go:

A Canadian judge is now considering a landmark challenge to his country’s ban on polygamy as unconstitutional — a case being closely watched in Utah.

Testimony ended last week in the proceeding, sparked by the Canadian branch of a polygamous sect based in Utah. Since late November, British Columbia Chief Justice Robert Bauman has heard from nearly 20 witnesses — some of them Utahns — and taken many more affidavits and video testimonies about plural marriage.

As I've argued before, if we're serious about the holy grail of equality - and a lot of people are - then there's no way we can prevent polygamists from doing their thing.

And if polygamists have the right to do their thing, why don't pedophiles? That's not a joke - the North American Man/Boy Love Association makes just that argument.

Ah, brave new world!

A Congressman Takes Cheap Shots at Thomas DiLorenzo

Ha! Here's more fallout from Rep. Lacy Clay's snarky comments about Dr. Thomas Lorenzo and the League of the South, published in the Economic Policy Journal:

Clay attacks DiLorenzo for being affiliated with the League of the South. As best I can tell from the web site, the League is a group of southerners Fed up with big government, who want to be left alone. They don't want to have to use Federal Reserve currency, they don't want to be told what to do by those in Washington D.C. or by northerners.

Now it is really rich that Clay objects to this. Clay is member of the Congressional Black Caucus. When Congressman Steve Cohen of Tennessee, a white man, attempted to join the Black Caucus, because he represented a predominately black district in Memphis, Clay objected.

Clay said on the matter after Cohen was rejected for membership:

Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer. He's white and the Caucus is black. It's time to move on. We have racial policies to pursue and we are pursuing them, as Mr. Cohen has learned. It's an unwritten rule. It's understood...He does not, and cannot, meet the membership criteria, unless he can change his skin color. Primarily, we are concerned with the needs and concerns of the black population, and we will not allow white America to infringe on those objectives.

Yikes! Sounds like Clay understands the desire not to be told what to do by outsiders, after all.

Does the Black Caucus have the right of free association? If so, that means it has the right to discriminate, using whatever criteria for admission that it may see fit.

And if the Congressional Black Caucus has that right, do others?

Iraq refugees in US scrutinized for al-Qaida links

Here's the domestic impact of Bush's invasion of Iraq:

Hundreds of refugees who sought shelter in the United States during the early years of the Iraq war are coming under fresh scrutiny from US government security officials for possible links to al-Qaida's affiliate in Iraq.

FBI Director Robert Mueller surprised some terrorism experts Thursday when, in response to a question about threats inside the United States, he said the FBI was closely monitoring al-Qaida's Iraq-based offshoot. The group has killed thousands in Iraq but had not been viewed as a threat inside the United States.

Mueller said the possible threat rested with "individuals who may have been resettled here in the United States that have had some association with al-Qaida in Iraq."

What a fine time to think about whether we've put out the red carpet to terrorists. Heckuva job, Bushie!

The Economist Strikes Back!

Wednesday, we reported on Rep. Lacy Clay's misinformed and hateful remarks toward Thomas DiLorenzo and the League of the South during hearings Rep. Ron Paul held on the Federal Reserve. Above is a video of that hearing. Clay opens the curtains to reveal his vast ignorance and total lack of class at 51:00 in. As you can see, DiLorenzo had no opportunity to rebut.

Now it's DiLorenzo's turn:

Clay then declared that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) apparently disapproves of the League of the South. What a shocker! This is the same SPLC that accused the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. of "mainstreaming hate" by sponsoring a public debate on immigration policy. Their modus operandi is to label any individual or group that effectively criticizes their far-left, socialistic agenda as a "hater." Apparently, associating with anyone south of the Mason-Dixon line in any way qualifies one as a "hater" and potential KKK recruit in the warped minds of the hateful and libelous SPLC.

Biff! Bam! Pow!

Liberals lead the charge on conservative issue

Have we reached the point where we've been pummelled so hard by our handlers and the media that we don't even know when our own livlihoods are being threatended? A jobs-killing NAFTA clone is poised to pounce, and conservatives are barely noticing:

NAFTA was an anathema to conservatives too — Pat Buchanan said NAFTA was “a code word for betrayal — a sellout of [blue collar workers] and their families to CEOs panting to move production out of the United States to cheap-labor countries like Mexico and China.” A Human Events article claimed: “The NAFTA marketplace, unrestrained in the pursuit of cheap labor, has driven an increasing volume of manufacturing off-shore to Communist China where slave prison camps offer a cost of labor that is hard to beat.”

So, if KORUS "Free Trade Agreement equals NAFTA, the number of conservative opponents in the equation doesn’t add up to much — yet. Congressman Ron Paul served up red meat for the Tea Party when he warned his House colleagues that KORUS FTA “is a sneaky form of international preemption, undermining the critical checks and balances and freedoms established by the U.S. Constitution’s reservation of many rights to the people or state governments.”

Airport picks taxicab owners who served time

When archeologists of the future discover the lost civilization once known as America, they will either collapse in tears, or slap their knees laughing. Try to imagine what they will think of this story:

The aviation director at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport is recommending that a taxicab company run by two men who went to federal prison in connection with a scheme to buy fake driver's licenses be awarded a lucrative contract.

Aviation Director Jerry Orr says he didn't know about the felony records of Javed and Naheed Kashmary when a selection committee picked their proposal in November. The pair own two-thirds interest in Kashmary Enterprises, the operator of King Cab and Royal Cab.

Falsified driver's licenses were essential to the 9/11 terrorists. Illegal immigrants Victor M. Lopez-Flores and Herbert Villalobos were found guilty of providing driver's licenses for two of them. You'd think someone responsible for airport security would see a prior conviction for peddling falsified driver's licenses as a red flag.

But look what they did instead:

Charlotte/Douglas did not run criminal background checks as part of the taxicab companies' request for proposals. That job went to Charlotte's Passenger Vehicle for Hire manager, Burhan Al-Shaikh. The Passenger Vehicle for Hire office is part of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

When first asked about the Kashmary brothers, Al-Shaikh said they did not have felony records.

However, an attorney for the Passenger Vehicle for Hire Board, Mujeeb Shah-Khan, said the Kashmary brothers disclosed their criminal history on their application for city taxicab permits.

Amazing. But it gets even better:

But Orr says the records do not change his recommendation that the company receive one of three contracts to operate taxicabs at Charlotte/Douglas.

This is a good time to recall what Michael Tuohey, who gave Mohammed Atta his boarding pass on 9/11/2001, said about Atta: "If this guy doesn't look like a typical Arab terrorist, nobody does. I thought that. I actually thought that. And then I gave myself a mental slap for being, you know, stereotypical."

I know what those future archaeologists will say about us: "Died of political correctness."

Terror Threat 'Most Heightened' Since 9/11, Napolitano Says

Another smashing success from the District of Corruption:

The threat of terrorism is at "its most heightened state" since the 9/11 attacks nearly a decade ago, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said today.

"The terrorist threat facing our country has evolved significantly in the last ten years -- and continues to evolve -- so that, in some ways, the threat facing us is at its most heightened state since those attacks," she said before the House Homeland Security Committee.

Wait a minute - Bush sent the legions into Iraq to "fight them over there so we wouldn't have to fight them over here." Wasn't the invasion of Iraq supposed to be a pre-emptive strike against the international forces of terrorism?

Here's the problem, as Big Sis explained it to Congress:

"One of the most striking elements of today's threat picture is that plots to attack America increasingly involve American residents and citizens," Napolitano said, referring to so-called homegrown terrorists fueled by the Internet and connections with operatives overseas.

Many of the suspects -- including Najibullah Zazi, who plotted New York City subway bombings in September 2009, and Faisal Shahzad, the convicted would-be Time Square bomber -- lived and worked for years inside the United States before preparing their attacks. ...

David Headley of Chicago was convicted of a role in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed more than 170 people, and Colleen LaRose, more commonly known as "Jihad Jane," was implicated in a plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist for drawing the head of the Prophet Muhammad on the body of a dog in 2007.

So while the bloated bureaucracy of the Department of Homeland Security kept its eye on gun owners, conservatives, and anyone who utters "anti-government rhetoric," Muslim jihadists have been silently plotting. Notice that the "American residents" who committed or planned terror attacks are all Muslims.

And check this out, from the same article:

Homeland security officials said Yemen remains the "battleground" from which al Qaeda operatives are actively planning attacks against the United States, training recruits and coordinating plots.

Yayy! Yemen's the next country we have to invade to save us from terrorists! (Unless Egypt is first on the list.)

Ron Paul holds first hearing on Federal Reserve

Ron Paul pulled together an impressive roster of economic experts to testify about the harmful effects the Federal Reserve has had on employment. Chief among the experts was Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo, who needs no introduction to readers of this blog.

But check out the reaction of Rep. Lacy Clay, a typical liberal loon:

At one point, when Paul opened up the hearing to questions from committee members, Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.) directly took on DiLorenzo for his membership in the League of the South, an organization that has been designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a "neo-Confederate" hate group advocating for Southern secession.

Clay then rattled off a list of some of DiLorenzo's articles, including "More Lies about the Civil War," "In Defense of Sedition," and "The First Dictator-President," which examines "how Lincoln's myth has corrupted America."

"After reviewing your work and the so-called methods you employ, I still cannot understand you being invited to testify today on the unemployment crisis, but I do know that I have no questions for you," Clay concluded.

Clay had no questions because he had no idea what he was talking about. All he's capable of is knee-jerk reactions to any ideas not vetted and approved by liberal gurus.

It was Clay who opposed the membership of U.S. Representative Steve Cohen, a white liberal who repesents a majority black congressional district, to the Congressional Black Caucus. Here's how Clay dismissed Cohen, who is Jewish:

"Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer. He's white and the Caucus is black. It's time to move on. We have racial policies to pursue and we are pursuing them, as Mr. Cohen has learned. It's an unwritten rule. It's understood."

Does that make Lacy Clay an anti-Semite as well as a liberal loon?

Whatever the answer to THAT mystery, here's how Dr. DiLorenzo should have responded when Lacy Clay said he had no questions about fiscal policy:

The Collapse of the Anglo-American Empire

(and What It Means for You!)

See what financial expert Richard Maybury predicts: the collapse of the dollar and the euro, and the rise of China. Here's a taste:

Daily Bell: Is America essentially bankrupt?

Richard Maybury: America isn't but the federal government sure is. I don't think I need to get into statistics, but the federal government is about as hopeless as we have ever seen in history. I can't think of any other government that ever got into this much trouble, but the country and the government are not the same things. Some individuals are bankrupt, some are prosperous, it varies from one person to the next, but most assuredly the federal government is a real financial basket case.

Read the whole thing. Scary but essential insights!

The above graphic supposedly shows how superior the US is to the Egyptian dictatorship. Hey, lookit us! We have elections!

But I have a question: How superior can we be if each empty suit occupying the office of Temporary Dicatator supports the same policies?

Mubarak has the power to surveil and arrest Egyptians without charge, to detain them indefinitely, to deny the people freedom of free speech and assembly, and to deny them access to an attorney if they're "suspected" of supporting terrorism.

How different is that from the USA Patriot Act - which the saintly Obama wants to keep in place? It's refreshing that freshman Republicans* have blocked key provisions - but we still have a long way to go before we can pat ourselves on the back.

Will Ole Miss reinstate Colonel Rebel?

Looks like we have a lawmaker on our side:

A state representative from Mantachie has introduced a bill in the Mississippi House of Representatives that seeks to reinstate "Colonel Rebel" as the University of Mississippi's official mascot.

Rep. Mark DuVall, a Mississippi State University graduate, introduced HB 1106 on Jan. 17, which has since been referred to the Universities and Colleges committee on which Rep. DuVall serves.

The bill orders that "The University of Mississippi shall bear the nickname 'Ole Miss Rebels' and its mascot shall be 'Colonel Rebel.' The University of Mississippi's marching band, known as the 'Pride of the South,' shall play the song 'Dixie' before, during and after home and away football games and basketball games at which the band, or a portion of the band, is present.

This is something that has broad popular support, especially with the student body:

The university also halted the playing of "From Dixie With Love" prior to home football games in 2010 when the crowd, predominantly the student section, refused to stop the chant "The South will rise again" during the song.

Now that's Rebel spirit and Rebel pride!

SC senators to debate illegal immigration bill

Forget DC - nothing will be done there to stop the mounting costs of paying for illegal immigrants. That's why the people of the States have to take the do-it-yourself approach. And that's exactly what South Carolina is doing:

Sen. Larry Grooms from Berkeley County wants South Carolina to pass a law to crack down on illegal immigration, similar to an Arizona law that's been challenged in the courts.

The bill would allow police to check the immigration status of any person they believe might be in the country illegally.

Most folks we talked to think there need to be tougher laws to keep illegal immigrants out.

"It's over-burdening the United States. We got to worry about our Social Security. Now they want to give Social Security to the ones that aren't even allowed to be here," said Cecil Cassatt of Myrtle Beach.

Naturally the Open Borders industry goes a little nutty when it hears about local efforts like this. "It's going to cost money to fight illegal immigration!" No doubt it will, in the short run. Look how much we could've saved by NOT fighting the American Revolution -- but in the long run, we were able to run our own lives on our terms. Unless we want to become more like a Latin American banana republic, we'd better fight this battle now that we're able to. Once we become a minority, it'll be too late.

Let's hope South Carolina inspires a little fighting spirit in her neighbors. (That means you, North Carolina!)

NEW CAMPAIGN: End Aid to Dependent Dictators

From DownsizeDC:

Imagine that China someday becomes the world's only superpower, and that a declining America receives foreign aid and direction from them.

Wouldn't many Americans resent China for its meddling? And wouldn't that feeling turn to hatred if our country was governed by a DICTATOR whom Chinese politicians were supporting?

If you can imagine this then you can also sympathize with how an Egyptian feels toward America. U.S. politicians have given Egypt's Dictator-President, Hosni Mubarak, $60 billion over the past 30 years.

And Mubarak isn't the only one! That's why we're asking you to send a letter telling Congress to end foreign aid to dictators.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

I'm angry that tear gas canisters used against Egyptian protesters said "Made in the USA."

I'm upset that Congress forces me to support dictators like Egypt's Mubarak.

I consider it criminal that Congress has funded Mubarak to the tune of $60 billion.

I reject the claim that foreign aid builds good relations with other countries. Instead, it makes foreigners think that we want to dominate them, and hold them in bondage to their corrupt rulers.

The $15 billion we spend on foreign aid each year buys us hatred and enemies around the world.

The Constitution was designed to protect me from this. It confers no authority on you for my giving tax money to foreign rulers. This means that foreign aid VIOLATES the Ninth and Tenth Amendments. Please honor your oath of office. End all foreign aid, especially to dictators.

I am quite competent to handle my own foreign aid program, thank you very much. I do this through the contributions I make to voluntary groups with an international reach. I neither need nor want you to coerce me to fund your aid preferences. Aid is a job for civil society, NOT politicians.

Dick Cheney Hearts Mubarak

What's the difference between Dick Cheney and Hosni Mubarak? Not much, says the Classic Liberal.

Vox Day makes the same case: "Neocons aren't conservatives."

Conservative Democrats switch to GOP across the Deep South

The old party system continues to break down:

Merle Black, a political science professor at Emory University in Atlanta, said the party-switching — in addition to big Republican legislative gains in the South in the November election — reflect an ongoing "top-down realignment" of the region's white voters from old-school conservative Democrat to Republican.

Decades ago in the South, he said, "the issues that hurt the Democrats were issues first introduced in national politics." In other words, "the increased liberalization of the Democratic Party."

But the problem remains is that there's still no party for conservatives. Both parties represent the corporate-multicult axis of big, interventionist government.

Quote of the day

"I don't even know if you understand what conservatives are anymore, Billy. People like Bill Kristol, I don't think they stand for anything anymore. All they stand for is power. They'll do anything to keep their little fiefdom together, and they'll do anything to keep the Republican power entrenched." Glenn Beck on Bill Kristol

Amnesty again!

Fiscal conservative Lindsey Graham of San Francisco South Carolina has teamed up with Constitutional expert Chuck Shumer of New York to take another stab at pushing amnesty for illegal aliens, apparently their core constituency. And if this article is to be believed (and I believe it), John McCain is on board.

Says Li'l Lindsey:

“The smart move for the country and the administration would be, take McCain-Kyl and make it law,” Graham said. “Let everybody know we are putting resources in the border and we’re going to fix it. And then move on to the other parts.”

“It would be a real enhancement of border security that will make it easier for those who want comprehensive reform to talk about it,” Graham added.

So they promise to patrol the border if we agree to amnesty for 20 million illegals. Uh-huh. But if we can't believe Lindsey Graham, who in the Federal government can we believe?

US envoy's business link to Egypt

Examples of how corrupt and self-serving US government officials are just don't get better than this:

Frank Wisner, President Barack Obama's envoy to Cairo who infuriated the White House this weekend by urging Hosni Mubarak to remain President of Egypt, works for a New York and Washington law firm which works for the dictator's own Egyptian government.

Mr Wisner's astonishing remarks – "President Mubarak's continued leadership is critical: it's his opportunity to write his own legacy" – shocked the democratic opposition in Egypt and called into question Mr Obama's judgement, as well as that of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Remember how Dick Cheney abused his power to favor Halliburton, the company he once worked for and owned stock in? That's the way DC works.

Morris Dees and the language of empire

This story of Morris Dees' talk to student lawyers at Wake Forest perfectly illustrates how liberalism serves the empire. Dees used language all too reminiscent of what the empire does abroad in his remarks to his young audience:

Young lawyers have to ensure that justice is available to all people, no matter the color of their skin or their socioeconomic status, Morris Dees, founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center, told students at Wake Forest University School of Law on Friday.

"There are tyrants today that need confronting," Dees said.

Sound familiar? That's how George W. Bush rallied the nation to support his aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. The "tyrants" young attorneys should confront, said Dees, included drug companies.

Naturally, Dees invoked the name of the empire's chief saint, Martin Luther King:

He told the students the story the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. often referenced about an ancient city. The city had banks, a courthouse and a marketplace. The Biblical prophet Amos, a farmer, questioned city leaders about the injustices he saw, Dees said.

"(Amos) said, 'Folks, don't be satisfied until justice falls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream,'" Dees said.

And it looks like Dees' message got through. One student got it: There is no higher calling than serving the regime's enforcement machinery:

Bianca Hudson, a third-year law student at Wake Forest, said she was inspired by Dees' speech. She is interested in practicing immigration law after an internship with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in New York.

"We are Americans," she said. "We all need justice."

Chris Hedges notes that the language of empire seeks to advance the empire's goals by persuading people of the loftiness of its mission:

It employs the vocabulary of ideals and lofty goals and insists that the power of empire is noble and benevolent. The language of beneficence is used to speak to those outside the centers of death and pillage, those who have not yet been totally broken, those who still must be seduced to hand over power to predators.

When young people are convinced the Department of Homeland Security exists to advance the cause of justice, the language of empire had done its work.

Multiculturalism has failed in Britain

Last fall, Germany judged multiculturalism in that nation a failure. Now David Cameron, the prime minister of Britain, has declared multiculturalism a failed experiment in his nation as well:

David Cameron has criticised "state multiculturalism" in his first speech as prime minister on radicalisation and the causes of terrorism.

At a security conference in Munich, he argued the UK needed a stronger national identity to prevent people turning to all kinds of extremism.

He also signalled a tougher stance on groups promoting Islamist extremism.

The speech angered some Muslim groups, while others queried its timing amid an English Defence League rally in the UK.

So we have to wonder: When do we Americans wake up to reality? How many 9/11s and Fort Hoods will it take?

Only States' Rights can stop illegal immigration

Serious efforts to stop illegal immigration cannot, will not, come from DC. As we've been arguing for some time, the only hope is at the local level, where the people still have a degree of sovereignty -- and here's one immigration control activist who gets it.

Not so fast, Mr. Kagan

Southern Music break

Woooo-hooo! What an insane week! Riots, attacks on the freedom of speech, and apocalyptic weather!

Okay, let's take it down a notch. Loyal reader Jeff sent me this link to the Outlaws live in concert. Great background music while you're working on the computer!

This day in history

In 1783, England proclaimed the formal end to the hostilities with its thirteen former colonies in America.

In 1861, delegates from six Southern states met at Montgomery, Alabama, to form the Confederate States of America.

In 1948, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) gained independence from the United Kingdom.

In 2003, the country of Yugoslavia disappeared, to be replaced by the loose federation of Serbia and Montenegro.

What a busy day for self-determination!

Democratic National Convention choice sends signal: The South's a battlefield

Know how you can tell the politicians of both parties are planning their election strategies? Because they're saying nice things about us while referring to us as "Southerners." Usually, that noun is used only when some jerk with a leftist agenda is preaching about race. But to win, politicians need the consent, informed or otherwise, of Southerners, and with 2012 just around the corner, even Democrats admit they need us:

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine said this week the party has seen positive polling in both North Carolina and Virginia since it got smacked by the GOP in the midterm elections.

"That tells us we ought to take the South very seriously, just like we did in 2008," Kaine said in an interview. "We're showing we're competing everywhere. ...

Political strategists stressed that in 2012 much will depend on who the Republican nominee turns out to be. A Southerner, or other candidate with wide appeal in the South, could be formidable, they say.

But by choosing a Southern city over a union town such as Cleveland, Obama also wants to send a signal to the rest of the country, said pollster Stuart Rothenberg, editor of the Rothenberg Political Report. ...

Republicans are crafting their own Southern strategy:

Political strategists stressed that in 2012 much will depend on who the Republican nominee turns out to be. A Southerner, or other candidate with wide appeal in the South, could be formidable, they say.

Prediction: All these attempts to woo Southerners will be purely symbolic. Expect weepy tributes to Southerners in uniform, over-the-top appeals to patriotism (however misplaced loyalty to a dishonest and exploitative regime may be), and the emergence of bootlicking, back-stabbing, sell-out Southerners like Bill Clinton or John Edwards as front-runners.

Wouldn't it be nice if efforts to win Southern votes extended beyond the superficial, and actually promoted Southern interests, such as respecting our culture, ending the Latinization of our communities, and to stop grinding up our young men in useless wars?
