Comment of the day

UPDATE BELOW:

This was just too good to keep hidden on the comment section of this post"

Cheer up, OR! Things could've been worse.

What if the American Renaissance had met there in Charlotte and REALLY caused problems???

Ralphie

Ha! Right -- AmRen attendees are the real problem. Check out this commie birdbrain at 0:50 into the video:

"People everyday are undermining us. People join organizations like American Renaissance not realizing who they really are. Before you know it, groups like American Renaissance move in, they take over, and then they destroy your community."

Rebel flag bikini creates stir at Rock Hill pool

I missed a lot of excitement staying home this Memorial Day weekend, including a gang fight in downtown Charlotte (where the Democratic National Convention will be held next year!), thug bikers in Myrtle Beach, and people making waves at the water park in Nashville.

But those stories don't compare to this incident in nearby Rock Hill:

A man says someone pointed a gun at him at the Paces River Avenue pool Sunday because one of his friends was wearing the rebel-themed bathing suit, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The 20-year-old said he and his friends were hanging out around 8 p.m. when a group of people approached them, the report states. The group began calling them racists because a girl in his party was wearing a "stars and bars rebel flag" bikini. The group then surrounded him, so he stood up.

One of the suspects pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at him, but fled when he realized the police had been called, the report states. They took off in the direction of Riverchase Boulevard toward Celanese Road.

Now, I don't approve of Battleflag designs on bikinis, but this says a lot about how the South's most famous symbol has been demonized. When hyper-sensitive hot-heads think they're being racially oppressed by a woman in a Battleflag bikini, things have simply gone too far. It can only lead to trouble.

Only one choice for President

If you're not familiar with H.P. Lovecraft, I suggest you read Sam Francis' tribute to this weird, gifted, and neglected author (which is how I was introduced to Lovecraft).

No doubt, there are some good candidates for the office of Murderer-in-Chief. John Bolton is certainly bloodthirsty enough, though they've all assured us they'll continue dumping American lives and dollars into useless wars, thereby enriching politically connected big business while assuring us it's for the most noble of reasons. But that's what the Empire does.

For love of barbecue

Why do Southerners argue about barbecue? It's all about culture and local pride. From The Incidental Economist:

I think feelings are so strong about barbecue because feasts around pigs were infused with meaning since they represented shared experiences with loved ones and friends in both good times and bad. So these meals of both celebration and lament, centered around cooking a pig, became culturally meaningful in a way that make me interested in disagreeing with others about the best type of sauce to put on your barbecue. Because these events are important, it makes the way barbecue is prepared and served, important. Even if you are many generations away from a farm, I suspect this is the basic reason that many people have such strong feelings about barbecue.

Oh, and for the record, I've enjoyed some great Eastern NC pig, but no one does it like Lexington BBQ. No one.

Government Official Who Makes Perfectly Valid, Well-Reasoned Point Against Israel Forced To Resign

I love the Onion:

“The United States deeply regrets any harm Mr. Milstrand’s careful, even-tempered, and factually accurate remarks may have caused our democratic partner in the Middle East,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in an unequivocal condemnation of the veteran foreign-service officer’s perfectly reasonable statements. “U.S. policy toward Israel continues to be one of unconditional support and fawning sycophancy.” Milstrand, 63, will reportedly appear at an AIPAC conference to offer a full apology as soon as his trial concludes and his divorce is finalized.

Utah to accept silver and gold coins as legal tender

As the Chinese yuan hits record highs and federal debt spins out of control, it's clear the people of the sovereign States must take action to save the economy. Look who took the first step:

Utah has passed a law intended to encourage residents to use gold or silver coins made by the Mint as cash, but with their value based on the weight of the precious metals in them, not the face value - if, that is, they can find a merchant willing to accept the coins on that basis. ...

The legislation, called the Legal Tender Act of 2011, was inspired in part by Tea Party supporters, some of whom believe that the dollar should be backed by gold or silver and that Obama administration policies could cause a currency collapse.

The States have resumed sovereignty in a number of areas where the central government has failed, including gun rights, immigration, and protecting their citizens from illegal search and seizure. Utah is the first, however, to pass a law like this, and the repercussions are profound. As the story continues:

“This is an incremental step in the right direction,” said Lowell Nelson, the interim coordinator for the Campaign for Liberty in Utah, a libertarian group rooted in Ron Paul’s presidential campaign. “If the federal government isn’t going to do it, then we here in Utah ought to be able to establish a monetary system that would survive a crash if and when that happens.”

NOW is the time to prepare for the coming collapse. The people of Utah have started. What's your State doing?

What are YOU doing?

The dams the madmen built

I have to pass on this fine article on the backstory to the horrible flooding that's devastated huge swaths of the South. It says much about human greed, short-sightedness, and hubris:

This is a man-made disaster, legacy of a generation of politicians, farmers and ranchers who made bad (and very expensive) decisions to correct short-term problems on the Missouri, when the best available science - including findings in a 1934 corps report - warned that those solutions would create dire long-term consequences.

The floodwaters released this month from the Morganza Spillway - to relieve Baton Rouge and New Orleans - will permanently disrupt the lives of thousands. John Barry, author of "Rising Tide: the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How It Changed America," has been telling anyone who will listen that the devastation in 2011 is a direct consequence of the five huge dams built downstream from Louise Holding Eagle's farm 60 years ago, under the Pick-Sloan Plan.

I can't help but recall what Richard Weaver wrote in The Southern Tradition At Bay:

"But nature is not an opponent, as ancient systems of belief could have instructed us; it is the matrix of our being, and as such scientists we are parricides. Piety is a realization that beyond a certain point victories over nature are pyrrhic." (p. 16)

The article on the dam system that created this problem ends with these sobering thoughts:

Our legacy to the next generations is a catalogue that bristles with similar narratives. Are we never going to learn that the flotsam of our invincible ignorance will always come back to haunt us on a rising tide?

But have we really learned anything? I doubt it. Today, the government is reengineering not just the nation's waterways, but its demographics -- yet another grand social experiment whose consequences will not be known for generations. Those implementing this revolution assure us it will end well. How comforting.

The pro-war, pro-open borders folks at Reason are just amazed and mystified at the alignment of big government and big business against Arizona's border security efforts:

The Chamber of Commerce, which brought the suit, calls the law a “business death penalty” and, in a notable twist, the Chamber’s allies in the fight included leading liberal groups such as the Service Employees International Union, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the National Immigrant Justice Center, and the National Council of La Raza.

So what's the mystery? We're not the least bit surprised that La Raza and the SPLC teamed up with the Chamber of Commerce. We even have a name for them -- the Treason Lobby. Greed unites them: greed for short-term money and political power, with just a touch of genuine hate for traditional America thrown in.

Palin readies East Coast tour amid presidential speculation

Palin's ready! She has plenty of cash, an ugly bus, and an agenda.

And what an agenda! As the record shows, Palin supports the following: the right of the CIC to unilaterally launch wars, domestic surveillance, a "pathway to citizenship" for illegal alien invaders (but "no amnesty," by golly!), and something called "Loyalty Day," which will give all American subjects citizens an opportunity to display the flag and "confirm their loyalty to the country." Just what we needed. Oh, and she vows to continue DC's "Israel First" policy. What a maverick!

Isn't it nice to have a choice of who holds the office of Temporary Dictator?

No need to renew your League of the South membership

Nor do you have to support this blog, or any other organization dedicated to reclaiming our rights and halting DC's demographic revolution. The battle is over, and we, the people, have won. No, really! From the Los Angeles Times:

The Supreme Court on Thursday gave Arizona and other states more authority to take action against illegal immigrants and the companies that hire them, ruling that employers who knowingly hire illegal workers can lose their license to do business.

The 5-3 decision upholds the Legal Arizona Workers Act of 2007 and its so-called business death penalty for employers who are caught repeatedly hiring illegal immigrants. The state law also requires employers to check the federal E-Verify system before hiring new workers, a provision that was also upheld Thursday.

See? The Supreme Court "gave" the states permission to slow the rate of illegal immigration. We now have the right to prosecute businesses that knowingly violate immigration law.

This ruling will pacify a huge swath of the populace angered by the growing floodtide of illegal immigration sponsored and encouraged by the sell-outs in the Chambers of Commerce. Of course, what many will not realize is that the Supreme Court's "gift" can be taken away as easily as it was given. Worse, we legitimize and magnify DC's control over us by accepting the notion that the Supreme Court has the power to grant or deny basic rights to the people of the States.

When you look at this ruling that way, you see it for what it really is -- a snare and a delusion. Maybe you should think twice about dropping your support of the League, or of the patriotic groups working to preserve our way of life.

Reid: Rand Paul's Opposition To PATRIOT Act Gives "Terrorists The Opportunity To Plot Against Our Country"

Why does the League of the South warn that the dream of reforming the Feral government is the real "Lost Cause" of American politics? Simple: Because the two establishment parties care for nothing but power. Democrats howled about the Patriot Act when a Republican regime controlled the levers of central power, but now that they have the White House, their overwhelming concern for the rights of Americans has mysteriously vanished.

Consider these comments of Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Gauleiter:

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) blasted Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on the Senate floor late Wednesday night. Reid called Rand Paul's opposition to the renewal of the PATRIOT Act "political grandstanding." However, that wasn't the worst thing Reid accused the freshman Senator from Kentucky of.

"When the clock strikes midnight tomorrow, we will be giving terrorists the opportunity to plot against our country undetected," Reid said on the Senate floor. "Now, the senator from Kentucky is threatening to take away the best tools we have for stopping them."

If you're opposed to unlimited power for the central government, you're a racist, terrorist, white supremacist, blah-blah-blah.

It's comical the way liberal Democrats have clicked their heels and mindlessly supported Obama's full-throttle assault on the Constitution. Wars of aggression and citizen surveillance are hunkey-dorey as long as their team's in power. What hypocrites.

Feds Issue Threat: No Fly Zone for Texas?

If you stand up to the Feds, be sure to stand on both feet, braced for battle. 'Cause if they say "Boo!" and you back down, you're gonna look silly. A case in point:

Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Justice upped the ante in a high-stakes political game of chicken. Lobbying against pending legislation in the Texas legislature which would criminalize any searches conducted without probable cause, U.S. Attorney John E. Murphy sent a letter to a few high-ranking members of Texas’ government warning against promoting the bill and threatening a complete closure of all flights to and from the state.

“If HR [sic] 1937 were enacted, the federal government would likely seek an emergency stay of the statute,” Murphy wrote. “Unless or until such a stay were granted, TSA would likely be required to cancel any flight or series of flights for which it could not ensure the safety of passengers and crew.”

No doubt written with the threatening intent one reads into it, Murphy added: “We urge that you consider the ramifications of this bill before casting your vote.”

Um, what kind of ramifications? A Libyan-style no-fly zone?

It's time to stop begging for the Feds to respect our rights.

This day in history

- In 1856, bloodthirsty maniac and multicultural hero John Brown led the Pottawatomie Massacre. From USHistory.org:

A great believer in "an eye for an eye," John Brown sought to avenge the sack of Lawrence.

Vengeance would come on the night of May 24, three days after the Lawrence affair. Setting out after dark with 7 others and calling himself the Army of the North, Brown entered the pro-slavery town of Pottawatomie Creek. Armed with rifles, knives, and broadswords, Brown and his band stormed the houses of his enemies. One by one, Brown's group dragged out helpless victims and hacked at their heads with the broadswords. In one encounter, they even killed two sons of an individual they sought. Before the night was through, five victims lay brutally slain by the hands of John Brown.

John Brown's followers insisted that he did no killing at the Pottawatomie Massacre, but he did decide which men would live and which would die.It was the South's turn to be outraged. Destroying property was one thing, but no one had been killed at Lawrence.

- In 1863, Clement Vallandigham was banished to the Confederacy. Vallandigham had been found guilty by a military tribunal of violating General Ambrose Burnside's Order No. 38. The order stated that public criticism of the war would not be tolerated.

John Edwards to be prosecuted

And now, for the lighter side of the news:

The United States Department of Justice has green-lighted the prosecution of former presidential candidate John Edwards for alleged violations of campaign laws while he tried to cover up an extra-marital affair, ABC News has learned.

A source close to the case said Edwards is aware that the government intends to seek an indictment and that the former senator from North Carolina is now considering his limited options. He could accept a plea bargain with prosecutors or face a potentially costly trial.

What a pleasure to see this smirking, self-righteous sell-out face the music. More at memeorandum.

NAACP leader arrested after "disruptive, disrespectful" outburst

Sometimes throwing a tantrum doesn't force the adults to give you what you want. Sometimes you get spanked instead, and that's what happened to NAACP crybaby William Barber:

The Rev. William Barber, head of the North Carolina branch of the NAACP, was removed from today's session of the N.C. House by General Assembly police officers after he shouted at legislators from the gallery. ...

[House speaker Thom] Tillis said on the floor that the protest was "one of the most disruptive, disrespectful acts I've ever seen."

Oh, you ain't seen nothing yet, Mr. Tillis! If I know Barber, he can outdo even this performance. Remember, money DOES grow on trees, and if you tightwad legislators don't deliver what he wants, a hissy fit spiced with just the right amount of canned indignation and accusations of "racism" will make you fork over the dough. At least, that's the way it's always worked in the past for the NAACP.

Eighth graders hold mock trial: Jefferson Davis found not guilty

Now here's an amazing story. Despite the steady drumbeat of pro-Empire propaganda, these eighth-graders marshaled the facts of history into a logical defense of Jefferson Davis and the Southern Cause:

Resounding applause came when St. Rose Elementary eighth graders found Jefferson Davis not guilty of treason in the school’s annual mock trial event Monday at the Belmar municipal courthouse on Main Street.

Three member prosecution and defense attorneys argued whether or not the Confederate States of America president’s actions violated constitutional law.

Who would've thought it possible for our message to get through all the Lincoln idolatry and politically correct indoctrination? Not only that, but as you read the story, you can't help but notice the younger generation is not lacking in the art of critical thought.

Know hope.

Supreme Court orders California to release tens of thousands of prison inmates

This in unbelievable, even for the Feral government:

The Supreme Court ordered California on Monday to release tens of thousands of its prisoners to relieve overcrowding, saying that "needless suffering and death" had resulted from putting too many inmates into facilities that cannot hold them in decent conditions.

It is one of the largest prison release orders in the nation's history, and it sharply split the high court.

In the other-worldly thinking of the black-robed deities on the Supreme Court, the needs of convicted criminals trump those of law-abiding tax payers. How much "needless suffering and death" will result from unleashing up to 46,000 predators on an unsuspecting public? No matter, says the American Civil Liberties Union, which gurgles that the court had "done the right thing." The leftist agenda uber alles.

Governor Jerry Brown should tell the Supremes that California's first priority is the safety of its citizens, not the ever-expanding rights of criminals.

Groups want interpreters for civil courts

Groups? What groups? Why, these groups:

North Carolina's courts are violating the rights of people who speak little or no English by failing to provide free interpreters in civil cases, according to a federal complaint.

Charlotte's Latin American Coalition, Muslim American Society and Vietnamese Society have joined together to ask the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate and stop what they say is discrimination in the N.C. courts.

Although the state provides interpreters for indigent defendants in criminal cases, advocates say limited-English speakers are routinely subjected to civil court proceedings they don't understand. The cases often involve disputes over housing, unpaid wages, parental rights and child custody.

Now let me get this straight: People who enter this country without having first learned the language demand their host country pay for interpreters?

Notice how "wants" have turned into rights. And worse, that these rights are things the host country has to pay for. Amazing.

And yet, we're supposed to believe immigrants, legal or illegal, somehow "enrich" this country.

How the Northern view shaped the Civil War

The myth that the "Civil War" was a glorious and altruistic crusade to liberate black slaves and grant them equality has been taking a real beating lately. With a bit of surprised pleasure, we reported this March on David Goldfield's new book, "America Aflame: How the Civil War Created a Nation," which describes the war not as a "triumph of freedom but as America's biggest failure."

Now a more prominent historian undercuts that myth in his latest work:

In his revisionist "The Union War," University of Virginia historian Gary W. Gallagher argues, "Attachment to Union, more than any other factor by far, motivated loyal citizens bent on defeating the rebellion." Gallagher insists that most white Northerners fought for the Union because they subscribed to the interconnection of liberty and Union and disdain for secession articulated by Sen. Daniel Webster in his famous speeches of 1830 and 1850.

Gallagher seeks to correct what historian David W. Blight terms the now prevalent "emancipationist" historical memory of the war. Northern citizen-soldiers fought to preserve the Union, not to end slavery or to transform chattels into citizens.

Of course. Billy Yank (the average Northern soldier, not the uninformed pest who drops nasty comments on this and other Southern blogs) fought out of loyalty to his nation, not to "free the slaves." Problem is, the powers that be exploited those loyalties to enrich themselves and expand their power. As I've argued before, wars are fought for power and treasure, not to do good deeds.

The growing problem for the "emancipationists" is well documented. Statements before, during, and after the war confirm that granting and enforcing equality for African slaves wasn't the point; protecting the Union and the political and economic advantages it afforded was. For example, before the bombardment of Fort Sumter, the U.S. Senate passed the first Thirteenth Amendment, which would have given the institution of slavery absolute protection within the Union, and even specified that Congress would never interfere with it where it already existed.

After hostilities began, the U.S. Congress passed a "Joint Resolution on the War" that made clear the aim of the war was to preserve the Union, not to interfere with "established institutions," that is, slavery:

Resolved: . . . That this war is not being prosecuted upon our part in any spirit of oppression, nor for any purpose of conquest or subjugation, nor purpose of overthrowing or interfering with the rights or established institutions of those states, but to defend and maintain the supremacy of the Constitution and all laws made in pursuance thereof and to preserve the Union, with all the dignity, equality and rights of the several states unimpaired; and that as soon as these objects are accomplished the war ought to cease.

Ulysses S. Grant voiced what most Union soldiers thought about the Emancipation Proclamation: "If I thought this war was to abolish slavery, I would resign my commission and offer my sword to the other side."

After the war, Northern politicians openly discussed their true motives. James Blaine of Maine, in his book, "Twenty Years of Congress," had this to say:

"The Reconstructed State governments all recognized the supreme sovereignty of the National Government as having been indisputably established by the overthrow of the Rebellion, which was undertaken to confirm the adverse theory of States' Rights."

And if that wasn't clear enough, consider the actual policies Northern States enforced after the war. The people of the Northern States clearly had no intention of extending full rights to blacks. In 1867, Ohio, Michigan, Kansas, and Minnesota rejected proposals to allow blacks to vote. The Republican Party Platform of 1868 saw nothing wrong with allowing Northern States to deny blacks the right to vote: "The question of suffrage in all the loyal States properly belong to the people of those States."

That's because enforcing the black vote in the South was only a tool for political and economic control. Once those goals were achieved, the Republicans abandoned blacks in the South in the "Corrupt Bargain" that won them power in the 1876 presidential election.

So what's going on? Why the rising tide of "revisionist," pro-Southern history? I suspect it's just another indicator that people realize the existing political order is coming apart at the seams. Empires can only be held together by force, and sooner or later, imperial overstretch takes its toll. We're in the belly of the Titanic, the iceberg has ripped a gash in our hull, and in the darkness we hear the groans and strains of the framework as it buckles and gives.

Lifeboats, anyone?

Southern Music break

Wooo-hooo! It's Friiiiday, y'all! I'm feeling REALLY antiwar today, what with Obama's illegal war in Libya, so here's a great anti-empire song from Southern Rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival!

Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more!

Quote of the day

"I voted for Obama in 2008 because I trust his judgment. And not in any merely abstract way, either: I mean that if he and I were in a room and disagreed about some issue on which I had any doubt at all, I’d literally trust his judgment over my own. I think he’s smarter than me, better informed, better able to understand the consequences of his actions, and more farsighted." Leftist writer Kevin Drum, teaching Americans to obey their leaders.

Bin Laden is still dead!

Bush used the language of conservatism to persuade his base to support socialized medicine (Prescription Drug Plan for Seniors), egalitarianism as the basis for his world democratic revolution, and federal supremacy over States' Rights (No Child Left Behind) -- all big-government goals usually associated with liberalism. Heck, he almost tricked conservatives into supporting amnesty for illegal aliens as a "conservative" goal!

Now Obama has gulled his base into supporting the Bush-Cheney war on freedom terror, as this video illustrates:

"We at NewsBusted want to praise liberals who now support the results of warrantless wiretapping, Gitmo, waterboarding, and the death penalty. Welcome aboard, lefties!"

The consistent message is that Big Government is good, and that housebroken conservatives and liberals must obey its every whim. Meanwhile, our overlords accrue more power over us.

Are there any limits on President Obama's license to kill?

The battle to preserve the Constitution against those who would make the Commander in Chief a dictator is over -- John Yoo won, and we, the people, have lost:

How much evidence should the US government be obliged to show before it kills an American citizen?

None, according to the Obama administration.

And how much evidence should the government be obliged to possess of an American’s wrongdoing before officially targeting them for killing?

That’s a secret, according to the Obama team.

As part of its war against violent extremism, the Obama administration now claims a right to kill Americans without a trial, without notice, and without any chance for targets to legally object. On May 6, the US government launched a drone attack to try to kill a US citizen in Yemen. The Obama administration alleges that Anwar al-Awlaki, an American born Muslim cleric, helped spark killings at Fort Hood, Texas, and an attempt to blow up a jetliner in 2009. Mr. Awlaki might be a four-star bad guy, but government press releases and background briefings have not previously been sufficient to justify capital punishment. The drone attack failed to terminate Awlaki, though two other people were killed.

Before you do anything rash, such as writing your representative or organizing resistance to this power grab, remember that anyone who opposes the CIC stands with the terrorists, and, worse, anyone who opposes Obama is a racist, white supremacist hater.

Southern Exposure

Al Qaeda has already retaliated for the death of Bin Laden, but warns they're just getting started. Who's in their sights next? It could be Dixie, and here's why:

Lopez: And why the South?

Stakelbeck: [T]he vast majority of southerners have bent over backwards to be non-judgmental and make Muslims feel welcome. And the numbers are growing. Some 20,000 Muslims now live in Nashville, a city that I refer to in the book as a sort of mini–Ellis Island. A second reason the South is attractive is that it is still home to vast rural areas that provide plenty of space to plot and train. And a guy walking into a store and buying some guns is just par for the course.

Lopez: Does that mean the South is being targeted?

Stakelbeck: If you talk to counter-jihad activists and concerned citizens in Murfreesboro and throughout Tennessee — a state where several mega-mosques are being planned or proposed — they will tell you exactly that. As I detail in the book, they consider the growth of Islam in their region as a premeditated, direct challenge to the Christian heart of America. Where better to set up shop and show your dominance than in the buckle of the Bible Belt?

Thanks to Paul for the heads up!

This day in history

In 1861, Arkansas was admitted to the Confederacy.

Nationalism: The Opium of Confused Conservatives

The Good Kennedys explain the difference:

Nationalism celebrates force; it frolics in force; international status is nurtured and grows with force. Force expands the nation’s control over its own people every time it is successfully applied to an enemy; therefore pure nationalists seek enemies to destroy. Nationalism looks beyond the nation’s borders for opportunities to expand the nation’s influence—be it economic, ideological, commercial and/or military influence or, when the opportunity allows, not just influence but absolute control. Notice that this new “nation of force” will ultimately look and act more like an empire than a simple nation.

Patriotism, on the other hand, is local; it looks inward to a community with local traditions. Patriots see the nation as a means to protect local communities that compose the nation. Patriots are members of local communities and their primary desire is simply to be “let alone.” Patriots view people residing outside of the nation’s borders as possible trading partners in which they can engage in voluntary exchange—an exchange in which both sides gain. Patriots rally to the flag to defend the nation because the nation is necessary to preserve and defend local communities. Whereas nationalists need and ardently seek to create and expand a strong centralized supreme and ultimately oppressive national government.

That's why the deficit and the power of the central government expanded during the Bush years. Despite all his talk about being a conservative, Bush was really just another politician working for the Empire. So's Obama.

Quote of the day

"I never believe anything the government tells me." George Carlin

White House blocks media access based on "bias"

If this had happened in the Bush White House, the media and the left blogosphere would've gone ballistic -- but Obama can get away with it. After all, Obama is Obama:

The White House Press Office has refused to give the Boston Herald full access to President Obama’s Boston fund-raiser today, in e-mails objecting to the newspaper’s front page placement of a Mitt Romney op-ed, saying pool reporters are chosen based on whether they cover the news “fairly.”

“I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters,” White House spokesman Matt Lehrich wrote in response to a Herald request for full access to the presidential visit.

Controlling the flow if information is just part of the ongoing DC scam. Before Obama, house-broken "conservatives" supported the Bush Doctrine, where the Chief Executive claimed the power to launch a pre-emptive war on the flimsiest suspicion of a threat to "national security." Obama has expanded that into the Obama Doctrine, which proclaims the CIC can launch a war anywhere, anytime in the name of human rights.

Whatever party is in the White House, the central government pushes for the power to do anything to anyone. All in the name of freedom, of course.

"Whatever the mystery of life is, you can tell when it departs by the change in the appearance of what's left behind." Charley Reese

White Teachers Accuse Black Principal Of Racism

This lawsuit -- if it goes anywhere -- should be worth watching:

Four white Philadelphia elementary school teachers filed federal complaints last week alleging they experienced harassment and racial discrimination by several school and district officials, including being accused by a principal of being unfit to teach black students. ...

As part of their professional development, Ray forced white staffers to read an article “instructing the teachers that white teachers do not have the ability to teach African American students,” the lawsuit alleges.

Problem is, the Black principal has a point. As this report illustrates, the performance gap between White and Black students in Philadelphia has only worsened in the past five years. For example, Chart 9 shows that while 65% of Whites performed at or above standard in Math in 2007, only 39% of Black children passed. How could these teachers claim they're able to teach Black children?

But then, the same report reveals that White students are not performing as well as Asian students. As a school board member here in Mecklenburg County once demanded of the superintendent upon encountering similar statistics, "We have to find out what the schools are doing to our students to get results like that!"

Yes, those teachers have a lot of explaining to do. Clearly, their lawsuit is nothing but a crude attempt to cover up the real problem.

No warrant needed if police think it's for a REALLY good reason

Yes, that's my headline, not the original -- but how far off am I? The black-robed deities who tell us what the Constitution really means are pretty much saying just that:

The police do not need a warrant to enter a home if they smell burning marijuana, knock loudly, announce themselves and hear what they think is the sound of evidence being destroyed, the Supreme Court ruled on Monday in an 8-to-1 decision.

The issue as framed by the majority was a narrow one. It assumed there was good reason to think evidence was being destroyed, and asked only whether the conduct of the police had impermissibly caused the destruction.

"But Old Rebel, there are still rules! The police still have to knock loudly before they can come in."

Yeah. Just like the KGB used to do in the dead of night. Don't look now, but DC has just whittled away another of our traditional rights.

DC vs. America

Nearly 60% of Americans say they want US troops to start coming home, according to this USA Today poll. But then, Americans say all sorts of silly things about foreign policy. In addition to wanting to end DC's imperial adventure in Afghanistan, 51% want to cut the Pentagon's budget to reduce the deficit.

The zany ideas of the great unwashed don't end with ridiculous notions of keeping our noses out of other people's business -- seems the majority is still loyal to what the better educated refer to as "The Old America." For example, another USA Today poll shows that 54% want to end automatic citizenship to illegal aliens' anchor babies. 59% favor Arizona's border security law, which does the job the Feds refuse to do. And 55% oppose Obama's scheme to grant citizenship to illegal immigrants.

However, DC's policies aren't about to change just because a majority of its subjects opposes them. What kind of Empire could survive without demographic reengineering and perpetual war? After all, the two go hand in hand, like gay bath houses and HIV. Responsible leaders know what's best, not a bunch of patriotic xenophobic, anti-progressive yahoos from fly-over country.

“I Love Me Some Rednecks”

Who you gonna call after the tornado hits? The metrosexual latte sipper, or the fella with the pickup truck? From the Moulton, Alabama, Advertiser:

Give me a Lawrence County redneck any day when trouble comes – when fences get blown over and the lights go out, and there are trees and houses strewn like matchsticks as far as the eye can see, what in the world would we do without these rednecks?

Thanks to all of you dear rednecks, you deserve medals for what you have done in the past few weeks. And don’t think the world didn’t notice, they did. In fact, somebody is probably writing a country song about you as you read this.

And while we're on that topic, don't forget to donate to your fellow Southerners! Click here to send needed relief funds through the League of the South.

How Exposure to the Confederate Flag Affects Willingness to Vote for Barack Obama

I simply MUST be more careful about what I joke about. Last week, a story about a black convict's appeal of a murder charge because of a Confederate Battleflag memorial near the courthouse where he was tried prompted me to write about the "magical, mystical, black-destroying power" of the Battleflag.

I was joking.

But these people, so help me, are dead serious:

The present paper explores how a common Southern symbol—the Confederate flag—impacted willingness to vote for Barack Obama. We predicted that exposure to the Confederate flag would activate negativity toward Blacks and result in lowered willingness to vote for Obama. As predicted, participants primed with the Confederate flag reported less willingness to vote for Obama than those primed with a neutral symbol. The flag did not affect willingness to vote for White candidates. In a second study, participants primed with the Confederate flag evaluated a hypothetical Black target more negatively than controls. These results suggest that exposure to the Confederate flag results in more negative judgments of Black targets. As such, the prevalence of this flag in the South may have contributed to a reticence for some to vote for Obama because of his race.

It apparently never occurs to these "political psychologists" that Obama wouldn't be the favored candidate in the conservative South because of his far-left positions -- no, it MUST be because he's black. Instead, we're to believe that if whites weren't exposed to the Confederate Battleflag, goodness and tolerance could blossom within them, and they would vote for Obama, thereby uniting our nation.

What a powerful symbol! It hypnotizes its unwitting victims, black and white.

H/T to American Renaissance.

'Dividing Forces are Mounting in Europe'

A spectre is haunting Europe — the spectre of resurgent nationalism. All the powers of old Europe have entered into an unholy alliance to exorcise this spectre: IMF and Eurozone, antifa and Green, NATO parasites and German prosecutors.

This ancient, powerful force is rousing those patriots who thought their beloved homelands had been absorbed by a nameless, formless abstraction called globalism. Its power is undeniable, and the ruling elite cannot stop it:

As southern Europe continues coping with refugees fleeing the unrest in Libya and Tunisia, a number of countries have become increasingly nervous about just what to do with them. Italy, which has borne much of the burden of what President Silvio Berlusconi called the "human tsunami," recently issued visas that allowed many refugees to travel into northern Europe when member states failed to help with the problem. Then Italy, France and other countries demanded revisions to the Schengen border-free travel agreement - a cornerstone of EU values.

But on Wednesday Denmark took the bold, unilateral step of reintroducing permanent border controls, claiming it was concerned about organized crime and illegal immigration. Behind the decision was the country's right-wing populist Danish People's Party (DPP), which leveraged a favorable vote on the center-right minority government's economic legislation to force the measure through.

This patriotic and populist wave is shaking the European Union to its foundations. Many have already recognized that multiculturalism is dead; now, the death of the trans-national superstate is at hand.

So when do these stirrings of rebellion reach our shores?

Thanks to Big Chief for the heads up!

Treasury to tap pensions to help fund government

The Empire's ship of state has rammed into the debt ceiling. In a desperate attempt to keep the hulk afloat, federal gnomes are raiding pension funds.

Recognizing the sinking ship for what it is, China unloads its holdings of US securities for the 5th month.

But there's nothing to worry about. Go back to watching American Idol. Or a game. Let the experts handle your future.

The American South is rediscovering its Confederate heritage

Here's an interesting view from London of the Southern heritage movement, via The Telegraph:

To most people who hoist [the Battleflag] in their front yards, it stands for honour and tradition and the Old World chivalry of Gone With the Wind. They revel in its outrageous defence of vanishing values, its uncompromising statement against the decadence of modern life and the voluminous size of federal government. The Civil War is as potent to many white Southerners as the Blitz is to a Brit. Regardless of the historical reality, it is their finest hour. To take that away from them seems rather cruel.

Not only does this most conspicuous symbol of the South evoke traditions and values that stand in proud defiance of the rot that passes for culture in a decaying empire, its presence still has the power to drive the regime and its adherents to madness. The reason is simple: The Battleflag represents a latent, powerful challenge to a bloated, corrupt, bankrupt regime. Our enemies know this, and as more Southerners awaken to the fact, the same culture that has defied countless attempts to eradicate it will nurture a political movement that will be even harder to suppress.

Three Southerners arrested for terrorism

The SPLC warned everyone about the domestic terror threat posed by those Southerners. There's no denying it this time:

Three U.S. citizens were arrested Saturday on federal charges that they provided $50,000 and other material support to the Pakistani Taliban.

Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan, 76, imam at the Flagler Mosque in Miami, and one of his sons, Izhar Khan, 24, an imam at the Jamaat Al-Mu'mineen Mosque in Margate, Fla., were arrested after morning services in Florida. Another son, Irfan Khan, 37, was being held in a Los Angeles hotel.

The men, originally from Pakistan, are U.S. citizens. The four-count indictment doesn't charge the mosques with wrongdoing, according to a Justice Department statement.

I would put this story in my "Blood is thicker than water" file (see here and here, for example), but there's no room.

Then and now

From LewRockwell.com:

In the eighteenth century, France was the superpower of Europe with a military that dwarfed those of its neighbors. And who dictated France's decisions to go to war? The answer: the king, his generals, and his courtiers at the Court of Versailles. In the twenty-first-century, the U.S. celebrates its status as the world's "sole superpower" with a military second to none. And who dictates its decisions to go to war? Considering the lessons of Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Libya, the answer is no less obvious: the president, his generals, and his courtiers within the vast edifice of Washington's national security state.

The ongoing, expanding Libyan War is in clear violation of the Constitution -- but then, EVERYONE knows that only white supremacist racist haters want to restrain the central government to its enumerated powers. To do so would be to limit its ability to advance its freedom agenda at home and abroad.

36 Statistics Which Prove That The American Dream Is Turning Into An Absolute Nightmare

Wealth is being transferred from the Middle Class to the politically connected ruling class at an increasing rate. Here's one reason:

The competition for decent jobs in America has gotten absolutely insane. There have been reports of people actually getting down on their knees and begging for jobs. Many Americans are starting to wonder if they will ever get a decent job again.

Meanwhile, the government continues to import more cheap labor from the Third World. That means more losses for the Middle Class and bigger gains for the upper class.

And some wonder why we refer to the Empire as an illegitimate regime.

Europe moves to end passport-free travel in migrant row

Camp of the Saints, African style, anyone? No, thank you, says Europe:

The “N” Word

Years ago, a charge of "racism" from the Southern Poverty Law Center was a feared fatwa that defined the condemned as unclean. Any who uttered a thought the SPLC had declared blasphemous to the religion of political correctness risked losing their jobs. Woe to those who deviated from correct thought!

But that was then. These days, the charge of "racism" has been SO OVERUSED, it's a joke, as Jason Rink sees it. He knows that educating Americans about nullification doesn't put him in bed with neo-nazis. (In fact, Hitler was opposed to States' Rights. He believed in an all-powerful central government.) And when such a charge comes from the SPLC, which spins gold from its mind-numbing fearmongering, everyone knows it's a joke. The SPLC quiveringly quotes one of Rink's "extremist" statements: "Government itself has become the enemy of liberty over time."

The horror! Why, that statement sounds so un-American, it could have been said by Thomas Jefferson.

Court: No right to resist illegal cop entry into home

Don't look now, but the basic relationship between the individual and the government is quickly being redefined -- and not for the better:

Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes.

In a 3-2 decision, Justice Steven David writing for the court said if a police officer wants to enter a home for any reason or no reason at all, a homeowner cannot do anything to block the officer's entry.

"We believe ... a right to resist an unlawful police entry into a home is against public policy and is incompatible with modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence," David said. "We also find that allowing resistance unnecessarily escalates the level of violence and therefore the risk of injuries to all parties involved without preventing the arrest."

David said a person arrested following an unlawful entry by police still can be released on bail and has plenty of opportunities to protest the illegal entry through the court system.

Yeah, those old Western European traditions are passé in an empire, where all cultures (except one) are equal. The tradition under English common law that recognized the right of a man to defend his castle just won't do in a multicult regime. Back then, if the King's men act illegally, a citizen had the right to resist -- it was a type of nullification over illegal acts, another right the ruling elites wish to eradicate.

Instead, we're supposed to submit to a central government that claims all power, all sovereignty. Re-read that last paragraph in the above quote. It states that the Empire's subjects are not to worry about the abuse of government power, because they can rely on -- yes, the government -- to make sure everything's all right. Feel better?

I prefer this view of the matter:

"The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the force of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storms may enter, the rain may enter, but the King of England cannot enter."

But as the Anglo-Celtic majority does away with itself, expect the legal and political traditions that it nourished to fade away with it.

Government Emergency Messages On Your Cellphone: Valuable Information, or an Attempt to Scare You Into Submission?

It's not that Neocons invented the use of fear and distortion to control a subject population: They were just the first to openly admit it (see here, for example). Now, we're seeing a liberal Democrat using fear of terrorism as a means to expand his power. Even more disturbing is a plan to install a mandatory "Government Emergency Message" app on all cell phones, which could be the central government's ultimate population-control tool, as this Zero Hedge article reveals:

Of course, the emergency alerts could hypothetically be useful, if used sparingly, only in real emergencies, and only in a way which helps people. But given that the government has used claims of "national security" to effect all sorts of shenanigans, it's hard to believe that the system would not be used for political purposes. See this. (Remember that peaceful protest is now considered "low-level terrorism", as shown here.)

Indeed, fear is the main tool which governments have to motivate, pacify and control their people.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Is Dead, Vader Says

From the Galactic Empire Times:

Obi-Wan Kenobi, the mastermind of some of the most devastating attacks on the Galactic Empire and the most hunted man in the galaxy, was killed in a firefight with Imperial forces near Alderaan, Darth Vader announced on Sunday.

In a late-night appearance in the East Room of the Imperial Palace, Lord Vader declared that “justice has been done” as he disclosed that agents of the Imperial Army and stormtroopers of the 501st Legion had finally cornered Kenobi, one of the leaders of the Jedi rebellion, who had eluded the Empire for nearly two decades. Imperial officials said Kenobi resisted and was cut down by Lord Vader's own lightsaber. He was later dumped out of an airlock.

When the end came for Kenobi, he was found not in the remote uncharted areas of Wild Space and the Unknown Regions, where he has long been presumed to be sheltered, but in a massive compound about an hour’s drive west from the Tatooine capital of Bestine. He had been living under the alias "Ben" Kenobi for some time.

State Supreme Court to hear Caddo Confederate flag case

Just when you think you've heard it all! A black man convicted of murder while burglarizing a white firefighter is appealing because -- and I'm not kidding -- the Confederate monument near the courthouse where he was tried made a fair trial impossible.

Good Lord, please give me strength...

The ACLU supports this lunacy. According to them, the monument, placed at the courthouse by those ferocious terrifiers of black men known as the United Daughters of the Confederacy, "presents an intolerable risk" to African-Americans.

"An intolerable risk"? Really? From these ladies? But it gets better. Professor Charles Ogletree, director of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice at Harvard Law School, bellows that the magical, mystical, black-destroying power of the Confederate flag is "demeaning to a whole generation of people."

Naturally, the NAACP chimes in, agreeing that black people are such delicate flowers that a flag on a monument built by little old ladies is just too much for them.

Imagine if the head of the Sons of Confederate Veterans or League of the South announced to the world that a hunk of marble and a piece of cloth with magical symbols could frighten Southerners into whimpering impotence. I'd be angry at them and embarrassed for myself and my people.

Thanks to Gail for the link!

Fear of an erudite white

Jim Goad gives us this must-read piece on Jared Taylor and those who would silence him. Check out this startling description of the holier-than-thou goons who've hounded Taylor for years:

At a scheduled 2007 debate in Halifax, a crew of violent agitators wearing masks—you know, just like the Klan!—forcibly ejected Taylor from the room before the debate started. Anti-racist busybodies were able to shut down the last two American Renaissance conferences merely by engaging in such compassionately humanitarian tactics as phoning in death threats to the hotels where they were to be held. They even show up to hassle him when he holds press conferences about being hassled.

This is not the behavior of intellectuals, but of religious fanatics. Their hysterically censorious actions are not those of people who feel they’ve won the debate, but of those who fear that if their god were held up to the harsh light of logical scrutiny, it might shrivel up and die.

That is precisely the unspoken fear that drives the "Tolerance Taliban" to silence politically incorrect dissent. They can't argue the facts, and therefore have to resort to threats.

Please read the whole thing. And when you do, re-read the last two paragraphs of this remarkable piece, and ask yourself if things really have to get that bad. Increasingly, I fear the answer is "yes."

Liberals in southern Arizona seek to form new state

This is a good thing:

A long-simmering movement by liberal stalwarts in southern Arizona to break away from the rest of the largely conservative state is at a boiling point as secession backers press to bring their longshot ambition to the forefront of Arizona politics.

A group of lawyers from the Democratic stronghold of Tucson and surrounding Pima County have launched a petition drive seeking support for a November 2012 ballot question on whether the 48th state should be divided in two.

The ultimate goal of the newly formed political action committee Start our State is to split Pima County off into what would become the nation's 51st state, tentatively dubbed Baja Arizona.

Not only does this keep secession in the political dialogue, it reminds us that splitting is sometimes the best course for all parties (see Independence, Declaration of). It's the best means to provide folks with the government that best suits them.

As an extra bonus, it segregates the pathology of liberalism from the main body, which not only saves the better part of Arizona from a self-destructive ideology, but by making the rest of the State more uniform and united, increases the likelihood of the real Arizona's eventual secession from the source of the disease, i.e., the District of Corruption.

Freedom -- to do what?

"All the world over, so easy to see
People everywhere just wanna be free
Listen, please listen, that's the way it should be
Peace in the valley, people got to be free"

Young Rascals, People Got to be Free

Yes, people "wanna be free," but should they? It might be a good idea to find out what they want to do with their freedom. Take this example from Egypt, where the people have rid themselves of nearly 30 years of Mubarak's dictatorship:

Christians in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, are holding a protest vigil near Tahrir Square following an attack on two churches in which 12 people died.

More than 180 were wounded in clashes on Saturday after conservative Muslims attacked a church in the Imbaba area.

Protesters have gathered outside the country's state television, accusing the army of failing to protect them.

Say what you want about Mubarak, but he prevented chaos like that under his watch.

Then there's the example of Iraq, an artificial country of different peoples cobbled together by the English and French after World War I. Only the brutality of Saddam Hussein could hold it together. After W the Magnificent "liberated" the Iraqis from Saddam, the result has been, uh, messy:

The dead in April alone included generals, police commanders, a deputy minister and the head of Iraq’s tax agency. The wounded included a member of parliament, a judge and the head of the national theater, survivors of attacks on their motorcades.

Among 50 targeted killings last month, most were carried out by gunmen using silenced weapons, according to Iraq’s Interior Ministry, which oversees the country’s police forces.

So instead of a flowering of democracy for only $50 billion, American taxpayers purchased anarchy for a cool trillion dollars -- talk about a bait and switch!

But that's what happens when social and political constraints are suddenly removed -- you never know what the result will be. And the less you understand how those constraints came to be, the less you'll appreciate exactly what they're preventing from happening. It might not be pretty.

That's why Patriarch Gregorios III, the head of the Melkite Greek-Catholic Church, asked Western nations as politely as he could to mind their own business:

“Our Arab countries are not ready for revolutions, and not even for democracy of the European kind and model,” the patriarch explained in a recent letter to Western leaders. “I am asking the West not to encourage revolutions unconditionally here and there in the Arab world.”

Sounds like good advice.

Triumph for Scottish Nationalist Party

Good news from Scotland:

A party advocating independence for Scotland has won a surprising mandate in the regional assembly there, according to election returns Friday that also showed the junior partner in Britain's governing coalition, the Liberal Democrats, getting thrashed in local races across the country. ...

But the stunner of Thursday's elections was the success of the Scottish Nationalist Party, or SNP, which won a majority in the Scottish Parliament, the first time any grouping has done so since the assembly was established in Edinburgh in 1999.

The head of the SNP, Alex Salmond, who will serve another term as Scotland's first minister, lost no time in declaring his intention to introduce a plebiscite on Scottish independence within the next five years.

"The SNP can finally claim that we have lived up to that accolade as the national party of Scotland," Salmond told cheering supporters in Aberdeen. "That is why, in this term of the Parliament, we shall bring forward a referendum and trust the people with Scotland's own constitutional future."

It's unclear how a referendum on secession, a longtime dream of nationalists such as actor Sean Connery, would fare at the polls. Although plenty of Scots favor unyoking themselves from England and Wales in theory, breaking up the union that has existed officially since 1707 would be incredibly complicated.

Congratulations to Mr. Salmond and his compatriots. We're pulling for you.

National Latino Museum?

I guess this was inevitable:

Actress Eva Longoria, music producer Emilio Estefan and 21 other members of a presidential commission created in 2008 on Thursday asked Congress to support the first national Latino museum in the United States, in recognition of the contributions of the Hispanic community for more than 500 years in this country.

And what would we get for the $6 million this will cost? Plenty:

Although the commission did not provide any details about the content, programs or collections to be housed in the museum, the future cultural institution may well include exhibits about the Latino presence here before the country's founding in 1776.

In addition, for example, the museum could emphasize the founding in 1565 by Pedro Menendez de Aviles of St. Augustine, Florida, the first city established in what is today the United States, 42 years before the English colonial settlement in Jamestown, Virginia.

But de Aviles was European. Shouldn't the exhibit on him be in the European Museum? Oh, wait, Congress doesn't have the money for that.

LEAGUE OF THE SOUTH TORNADO RELIEF FUND UPDATE

5 MAY 2011

Compatriots: Yesterday, I went down into the heart of the tornado damage area in NW Alabama. There are many little communities that have been by-passed and virtually forgotten by the relief efforts. I found two in extreme north Marion County--Shiloh and Clifty Creek. The local volunteers at the fire station in Shiloh community were very happy to see supplies coming in. I told them we would be back. They asked who "we" were and I told them The League of the South. They asked for the website address and other info and said they would not forget us. Moreover, they said they would let the storm victims know as well. This is what it means to be "servant leaders," something we claim to be.

As of this afternoon (5 May), we have raised exactly $4,375. That's in only four days of fundraising. Thanks to you all for your generosity. The largest single donation has been $1000--I challenge someone to top it! These poor folks we are serving really need and appreciate it.

Sara has really worked hard as our official Purchasing Agent, though she is not satisfied with her performance (she thinks she can save even more on her purchases). My 82-year-old Mama (a proud LS member) sent a good deal of cash to buy my gasoline for these trips--she still works a 40-hour week). My youngest daughter has been volunteering as a cook in Tuscaloosa to help feed the workers there. I'm really proud of my family, both biological and League!

I had intended to have the 2011 LS national conference agenda finalized by next week, but it looks as if I'll have to delay it because of our relief work. Once it's completed, I'll notify everyone and we'll post it on our www.dixienet.org website.

Hang in there,

Obama administration floats draft plan to tax cars by the mile

Wow. Just as the president claims new powers to kill foreigners he doesn't like, he again expands the reach of government at home. (I guess no one ever thought about the implications of that before.) How many ways could this be abused?

The Obama administration has floated a transportation authorization bill that would require the study and implementation of a plan to tax automobile drivers based on how many miles they drive.

The plan is a part of the administration's Transportation Opportunities Act, an undated draft of which was obtained this week by Transportation Weekly. ...

Among other things, CBO suggested that a vehicle miles traveled (VMT) tax could be tracked by installing electronic equipment on each car to determine how many miles were driven; payment could take place electronically at filling stations.

But remember, if you disagree with DC tracking your car, you're a racist supremacist anti-government extremist hater.

Obama reserves right to act again in Pakistan

This post is for those who still don't realize that whatever empty suit occupies the Awful Office, he'll do whatever he damn well pleases:

The White House said Wednesday that US President Barack Obama reserves the right to act again against top terror suspects inside Pakistan, following the raid which killed Osama bin Laden.

Obama's spokesman Jay Carney was asked whether the president would be prepared to target fugitives again if they were on Pakistani soil, despite Islamabad's complaints the bin Laden raid was unauthorized and unilateral. ...

"He maintained that that was his view and, by the actions he has taken as president, feels that it was the right approach and continues to feel that way," he said.

Well, if you're a patriotic American, you have to support the Commander in chief as long as he feels that he's doing the right thing. Only racist xenophobic supremacist haters still think the Constitution limits the president's power.

Bin Laden, Geronimo link angers Native Americans

Now this is just too much:

The reported use of "Geronimo" as a codeword in the operation that led to Osama bin Laden's killing has angered some native Americans and threatens to become an embarrassment for the Obama administration.

Geronimo was an Apache warrior leader who fought for tribal lands against U.S. and Mexican forces in the 19th century and who, like bin Laden, evaded capture for many years. He was held as a U.S. prisoner of war from the time he was captured in 1886 until his death in 1909.

What better code word could the Seals have used after killing an egomaniac who's despised all over the world? I guess they could have yelled "Geraldo," but it just wouldn't have had the same ring.

Arizona Prospering After SB 1070

I love stories like this:

Arizona’s tough anti-illegal immigration law SB 1070 was enacted into law on June 29 of last year. The Obama administration immediately sued Arizona and got an injunction preventing it from going into effect while the case was litigated. Critics warned that the law would hurt Arizona; no one would want to move to Arizona and illegal immigrants would flee the state, ruining the economy.

The sky-is-falling alarmists were wrong. Results from the 2010 Census reveal that Arizona is the second-fastest growing state in the country after Nevada. Lee McPheters, director of the J.P. Morgan Chase Economic Outlook Center at Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business, predicts that Arizona’s population will increase by close to two percent this year.

People all over the country fought back against the boycotts of Arizona, organizing “buycotts” and purposely traveling to Arizona to help with tourism.

Who said it would be the end of the world if the people of the States did the job DC refused to do? The Southern Poverty Law Center, for one:

Harsh anti-immigrant laws enacted in communities across the country – promoted by national nativist organizations that want to severely limit immigration – have burdened taxpayers with millions in legal expenses, inflamed racial tensions and devastated businesses, according to a report issued today by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

That's right -- businesses in States that passed such laws would be devastated. So certain was the SPLC of the eeeeevils that would be unleashed by these laws, they even quoted the ultimate authority -- themselves -- to prove their point. Now that's objective scholarship!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Bin Laden Story Continues to Change

What? The government -- I can barely type the words -- LIED to us? Tell me it ain't so! But it is:

The culmination of years of surveillance, with Navy SEALs bursting into a residence and engaging in an epic firefight with the world’s most wanted terrorist (hiding behind his wife and armed with an AK-47) in his palatial estate certainly makes for good copy, and movie studios were already lining up to turn it into feature films. The only problem was it never happened. ...

We now know that bin Laden was entirely unarmed, his wife was shot in an entirely different room. There was no “human shield,” no Ak-47. Bin Laden’s palatial estate, presented as damning evidence of Pakistani culpability, turned out to be a moldy, unairconditioned house.

Yes, it's true -- the same government that lied about the Gulf of Tonkin, Project Northwoods, WMD, Jessica Lynch, Pat Tillman, etc. etc., has lied to us again.

Hint: The Internet makes it much, much more difficult to keep all the people fooled all the time.

Quote of the day

"Without exception, all SEALs are male members of either the United States Navy or the United States Coast Guard." Wikipedia

Gee, and I thought the US government promoted equality.

Now that the shouting's over

Okay, we've shouted ourselves silly over the government's successful hit on Bin Laden. Now that the 48-hour hate is dying down, let's recall that the government we've been cheering is still imposing demographic revolution on its people, despite overwhelming popular resistance; steals from the middle class to further enrich its allies in big business; and launches illegal wars of aggression despite the will of the people.

This day in history

In 1937, Margaret Mitchell won the Pulitzer Prize in fiction for Gone With the Wind.

Dick Cheney: Torture works!

America's slithery power behind the throne is gloating that his methods helped nail Bin Laden. From Fox:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney told Fox News that if controversial interrogation tactics were successful in getting the intelligence needed to find and kill Usama bin Laden after more than 10 years, then those tactics need to stay in place.

Maybe Cheney has a point. If so, why stop there? If the torture methods so famously used by the Khmer Rouge work, why not use them in the war against drugs? Or in IRS audits? How about in the investigation of hate crimes? After all, the Bill of Rights is for good Americans, not drug dealers, tax cheats, racists, or terrorists.

After all, if you're truly innocent, you have nothing to hide.

Ron Paul backslides on immigration

Here's some troubling news from NumbersUSA:

The biggest problem with Rep. Paul's (R-Texas) latest comments on immigration is that they are NOT just some ad hoc thoughts tossed off carelessly at some speaking event. These are engraved in a brand new book.

Until the release of the book, Liberty Defined, Dr. Paul had a mixed record in Congress and the fact that he had taken the NumbersUSA "No Amnesty" pledge at the end of his Presidential campaign in 2008.

That had earned him a C-minus on our 2012 Presidential Hopefuls Immigration Stances Report Card. Not impressive, but the third best (behind Rep. Bachman with a B-minus and Gov. Tim Pawlenty with a C+) of all the Hopefuls.

For all his pretty words about "liberty," Ron Paul doesn't seem to get it. Western standards of liberty can only thrive in a Western society. If we allow ourselves to be Latinized, we'll be forced to submit to Latino standards of what government can and cannot do. You can forget about gun rights, and the rule of law.

And that's just for starters.

Bin Laden dead?

Really? Can I see the death certificate?

Alabama Close to Enacting Arizona-Style Illegal Immigration Crackdown

Here's more good news about the people's continuing fight against DC's demographic revolution:

Both bills would require police officers to demand proof of citizenship or residency from anyone they stop for a traffic violation or other infraction if they have reasonable suspicion the person is in the United States illegally. Those whose legal status can't be determined could be jailed and eventually charged with trespassing if they are determined to be in the country illegally.

Once again, the South takes a stand against illegal invaders.
