Black pastors organize to stop Obama's assault on marriage

No other group gets as riled talking about government legalizing and endorsing sodomy than Black preachers. They make Billy Graham sound like a squishy moderate. And now that the Democratic Party is poised to endorse same-sex "marriage" in their official platform, this could be a REAL problem come November:

A group of conservative black pastors are responding to President Barack Obama’s support of same-sex marriage with what they say will be a national campaign aimed at rallying black Americans to rethink their overwhelming support of the President, though the group’s leader is offering few specifics about the effort.

The Rev. Williams Owens, who is president and founder of the Coalition of African-Americans Pastors and the leader of the campaign, has highlighted opposition to same-sex marriage among African-Americans. He calls this campaign “an effort to save the family.”

Obama must've been desperate to have taken this chance. Clearly, he thought the donations from Hollywood would offset the negatives. I mean, really - does ANYONE believe that Obama sincerely believed in traditional marriage until just a few months ago?

C'mon! It's all political street theatre. Nothing more.

Warning: Contains facts toxic to your rage

Lefties and infantile storm troopers beware: the following article may be offensive to you since it provides facts and logic that defy the politically correct party line on Chick-fil-A.

New University of Louisville Fight song

The university is considering banning Chick-fil-A from the school cafeteria for its CEO's thoughtcrime of supporting traditional marriage. Martin Cothran over at Vital Remnants suggests the school should adapt a more fitting fight song.

Busload o' Brigands Heading for Charlotte!

Here's one cheeky little proclamation, from an illegal immigrant who plans to ride a bus to Charlotte so she and other illegal immigrants can protest at the Democratic National Convention. Not only do they feel our immigration laws shouldn't apply to them, they're incensed some of us suggest those laws should be enforced:

We’re standing up to sheriffs like Arizona’s Joe Arpaio and getting on a bus for a “No Papers No Fear Ride for Justice” that was to leave Phoenix this past weekend and will end at the Democratic National Convention in September.

Once here in Charlotte, the writer and her friends plan on some "civil disobedience," meaning they intend to break even more of our laws.

Notice that the oh-so-objective Charlotte Observer includes a link to the organization sponsoring this assault on the rule of law. Ah, unbiased journalism. Also notice how that organization, which calls itself No Papers, No Fear, declares it intends to "support local people to build barrio defense." Barrio defense? Does that sound like they intend to assimilate? Or that they plan to colonize?

The first week of September should be REAL interesting. Stay tuned!

Did Andrew Sullivan score some bad weed, or what?

Andrew Sullivan is just another revolutionary posing as a conservative. We seem to have a lot of people pulling that scam these days. They get away with it - and now I'm talking mostly about the Neocons - because they embrace capitalism and the military. Those of us raised in the political hotbed of the 60s knew the left despised both - therefore, anyone who saluted the troops and praised the free market MUST be one of us.

In fact, Neocons are just Trotskyites who've accepted the fact that socialism is lousy for the economy. They still believe in big government as the primary weapon to bring about the global democratic revolution, but realize they need the engine of the free market to finance it.

Now, back to Andrew Sullivan. Like the Neocons he often challenges, he has this thing for the office of the presidency. All big-government proponents lust for centralized power, and the office of the chief executive is where centralized power usually sits. (Though the argument has been made that Sullivan's fixation on the man in the Oval Office is slipping into the Freudian.)

Sullivan's thing is to tout his own agenda as "conservative," which includes same-sex "marriage," legal pot, amnesty for illegal aliens, and socialized medicine. His latest blog post argues that the conservative choice for 2012, is - drum roll, please! - Barack Obama. Yes, really:

On almost every front, on almost every issue, in this crisis, Obama is more conservative than Romney. ...Obama has made outreach to Hispanics real and supports a balanced McCain-style reform to integrate illegal aliens into the legal system, while toughening the border still further. Romney wants 12 million to "self-deport." Obama has sought to integrate the growing numbers of gay couples into their own families and society. Romney seeks to keep this emergent community marginalized outside mainstream institutions.

And just to put the icing on the cake, Sullivan even posts a picture of Edmund Burke! There. That should convince even the biggest skeptic what REAL conservatism is.

Confucius is quoted as saying, “When words lose their meanings, people lose their freedom.” Looks like we're already a long way down that road.

Conservatism Without Alexander, Abraham, and Irving

Dr. Clyde Wilson has a new book out I've been looking forward to reading entitled Forgotten Conservatives in American History. In an age when so-called "conservatives" endorse same-sex "marriage," open borders, and endless war in the name of the "global democratic revolution," we need a reminder of what real conservatism is.

THIS is a choice?

Mitt Romney says he'll support Israeli aggression against Iran, which would have to drag the US into yet another war.

Meanwhile, Obama is rattling the sabers against Iran as well, and may even launch a "pre-emptive" strike against that country. The mild dissent we heard from the left during the Bush-Cheney years has fallen silent.

So what'll it be, America - which leader do you prefer to lead us into war against a country that has not threatened us?

Can Baltimore Fill Its Urban Barrios With Aliens To Save Its Bond Ratings?

Here's what happens when "Sanctuary Cities" go for growth for growth's sake and give the keys to their cities to illegal aliens - they go broke.

Problem is, the foolish city leaders won't be the ones paying the price for their idiocy.

How to Get Off the Sinking U.S.S. Titanic

From the Independent Political Report:

While it is a very unpopular subject, the US is sinking. Few argue anymore that it is economically bankrupt or at best rapidly approaching. An increasing number are realizing that this country is also spiritually, morally and culturally bankrupt — or at best rapidly approaching. Corruption and Special Interests rule in Washington and an increasing number of State capitols and local governments.

Do not insult our Commander-in-Chief!

The pro-war, any-war lefties over at Little Green Footballs are having an attack of the vapors over the billboard shown above. Neither the Lizard King nor his li'l lizards argue with the fact that Obama is a mass-murderer. All they can do is lob insults at the libertarian group that put up the sign. Here's a sample:

Outrageous. Sick. Delusional. Wacko.

But here's my favorite: "Anti-war extremists are so often racists."

Yeah. Good thing we have Charles Johnson to steer us away from extremism.

What does the SPLC know about domestic terrorists?

A lot, it turns out - after all, they hired William Ayers.

Antifa angst

Remember the anarchist/antifa gang that tried to blow up a Cleveland bridge last May? Their goal was to boost the Occupy movement. (Not sure how that was supposed to work, but as you can see from their pictures, these boys can't be firing on all cylinders. Maybe Arthur Jensen could tweak Spearman's hypothesis to account for the low IQ of these Occupy types.)

Anyway, seems one of the conspirators, Anthony Hayne, has made a deal with prosecutors. And the antifa who once supported the "Cleveland 5" are pitching a fit:

Anthony Hayne was brought into the court room wearing street clothes instead of the usual prison orange. Emotions were running high as what many of the supporters and loved ones feared the most unfolded before our eyes. Around 9:30 AM Anthony Hayne formally entered into a cooperating plea agreement with the government on the basis that he was found guilty on all three charges. The judge seemed hesitant about Hayne's move, as it included a mandatory minimum sentence of roughly 16-20 years in prison (188-235 months served). The exact amount of time served would be dependent on the level of cooperation with the government. Formal sentencing will not occur until the trial is concluded.

As the Cleveland 5 support group, as friends and loved ones of all of them, we are shocked by his decision. Particularly by his decision to enter into a plea that would, by its nature, require the exchange of information that would implicate and/or potentially make worse the case of his other co-defendants. As this is and will remain a political case, we can no longer express support and advocacy on the behalf of Anthony.

Reckon Hayne will have to turn in his black hoodie?

Secession Is in Our Future

Here's a thoughtful, well-argued analysis of the mechanics of secession from the Texas Nationalist Movement. It outlines how secession could work from any of the following premises:

1 - the inalienable right of secession
2 - the international law of secession, and
3 - the US law of secession.

You'll definitely want to read the whole thing. Well done!

Quote of the day

"The most significant threat to our national security is our debt." Admiral Mike Mullen, in testimony before the House Armed Services Committee.

So what's the source of America's "most significant threat"? Not al-Qaeda, not the Muslim Brotherhood, but the rabid spendthrifts in DC.

Racism strikes at Thomas Jefferson High!

There's clearly an ongoing civil rights violation at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. Who could fail to see the institutional racism in these numbers?

43 percent are white, 46 percent are Asian and just more than 8 percent are multiracial. Black students, however, comprise just 0.6 percent -- or three students -- while Latino students only comprise 2.1 percent of the class. By contrast, black and Latino students make up 32 percent of Fairfax County's student population.

Why, you'd have to be BLIND not to see the White privilege at work here.

Okay, there is that odd little factoid with the Asian kids doing even better than the White kids (46% vs. 43%) - but if you ignore that (and you'd better!), then the case against White privilege is undeniable.

This is a job for the NAACP and its sidekick, the Coalition of The Silence! (Yes, really, the Coalition of The Silence.) To the Diversitymobile! It's time for yet another lawsuit to sue somebody, anybody, because Asians and Whites have out-performed Blacks and Latinos:

The Coalition of The Silence, a local minority advocacy group, and the NAACP filed a complaint to the U.S. Department of Education Monday alleging that black and Latino students, as well as students with disabilities, are being shut out of the school because Fairfax County consistently fails to identify them for gifted programs.

Wait a minute! Has anyone ever asked Black and Latino kids how they feel about being lumped in with the disabled kids? Wouldn't it hurt their self-esteem to be automatically bunched together like that?

And here's another question: How can the NAACP and its Legion of Doom, or whatever it is, go after TJ High when its results are similar to so many other schools? I mean, TJH's critics even acknowledge that:

Critics argue that students are discriminated against long before they even apply to the school. Of the students admitted to Thomas Jefferson, 64 percent attended top-tier advanced academic middle schools -- most of which are limited in diversity, according to the complaint. To correct the high school's racial imbalance, the plaintiffs argue that the entire district's pipeline must be reformed.

So even the middle schools the TJH students came from are producing similar results. And this pattern has repeated itself in Alexandria for DECADES. Furthermore, almost identical results are the norm in nearly every school district in the country. Does that suggest ANYTHING? I'll even give a hint - maybe, just maybe, the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology isn't doing anything special for the Whites and Asians, nor anything against Blacks and Latinos.

The NAACP demands that we remain willfully blind to the larger pattern at work here. This reminds me of the Leslie Nielsen classic "Police Squad," a TV show that lampooned 70's cop shows. In one episode, the top brains in the squad struggle to find a pattern in the city's crime wave. They study their crime map:

Push pins show the places that have been hit - but darn it, the cops can't predict where the crooks might strike next:

Like the phony cops in "Police Squad," the phony defenders of minorities in the NAACP and the "Coalition of The Silence" see what's going on, but have to pretend they don't. That's because they're all actors playing roles. No one is really that blind to reality. They just pretend they can't see a pattern because the NAACP's job is not to help minority kids, but to demand more government intervention, more set-asides, and more cushy jobs for its friends, jobs supposedly created to benefit "the children," which somehow ALWAYS fail to accomplish the promised results.

And when those projects fail, there'll be another round of righteous indignation, posturing, and more demands for more programs.

Anyone see a pattern here?

Bloomberg calls for "national police strike" until gun laws enacted

That's right - the anti-gun commissar of New York wants to use the government's domestic enforcement arm to impose strict gun laws on the public:

In a primetime exclusive interview, the head of the executive branch of New York City's government provided his solution for implementing stricter gun laws in America:

"I don't understand why the police officers across this country don't stand up collectively and say we're going to go on strike," Bloomberg told the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host. "We're not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what's required to keep us safe."

Notice how big government simply continues to pound away until it gets what it wants. If the people resist, and the government loses a battle, big deal - it just gathers its forces together again and attacks on another front.

The issue isn't settled until big government wins. Period.

This day in history

In 1861, the U.S. Congress passed the Crittenden-Johnson Resolution, declaring that the war was being waged for the reunion of the states and not to interfere with the institutions of the South, namely slavery.

That can't be true! EVERYONE knows the Civil War was a noble crusade to free the slaves.

Robert E. Lee was right!

Remember all those crazy stories the League of the South and other extremist, un-patriotic groups spread about how the federal government was becoming authoritarian? That citizen surveillance was all about keeping the government in power, rather than the safety of the people?

Turns out those stories are true:

The TSA, DHS and countless other security agencies have been established to keep America safe from terrorist attacks in post-9/11 America. How far beyond that does the feds’ reach really go, though? ...

In an interview broadcast on Current TV’s “Viewpoint” program on Monday, former NSA Technical Director William Binney commented on the government’s policy of blanket surveillance, alongside colleagues Thomas Drake and Kirk Wiebe, the agency's respective former Senior Official and Senior Analyst. ...

These powers have previously [been] defended by claims of national security necessity, but Drake says that it doesn’t stop there. He warns that the government is giving itself the power to gather intel on every American that could be used in future prosecutions unrelated to terrorism. ...

So. Robert E. Lee was right that a vast, consolidated republic would be despotic at home and aggressive abroad. "Democracy" and "civil rights" are nothing more than pretty words to justify a domestic police state and a murderous global empire.

How much longer are we going to let ourselves be fooled by this charade?

Grandpa got a gun!

And he's not afraid to use it on thugs who attempt to rob an Internet cafe! Enjoy:

Coming soon to a war zone near you

Here's the inevitable result of uncontrolled Third-World immigration: ethnic flare-ups with the police:

Anaheim hit by more protests over police shooting

Protesters broke windows of least a half-dozen storefronts in Anaheim on Tuesday and five people were arrested in the second major clash between police and demonstrators since an officer shot dead an apparently unarmed man.

The officer shot the man, who police said they later identified as Manuel Diaz, a known gang member.

Demographic upheaval leads to conflict. It was the influx of a hundred thousand Palestinians into Lebanon that sparked that country's bloody civil war. Even Victor Davis Hanson now admits that the demographic revolution in his own California has become a "social, cultural, economic, and political time-bomb, whose ticks are getting louder."

These ethnic time-bombs are popping up all over the country. Sooner or later, they will explode. The only question is, Will we have the political will to defuse them? That means we must stop the uncontrolled flow of illegal aliens, and prior to that, standing up and denouncing the Open Borders/Diversity agenda. Doing so will certainly bring the usual empty accusations of "racism," xenophobia, etc.

Which is worse - being called names, or seeing your community ignite? Those are our choices.

The Homosexual Lobby's Inquisition

Mark Regnerus is on the firing line. Leftist sociologists (sorry for the redundancy!) are targeting him for an article that questioned leftist orthodoxy. Some of these champions of science and free thought even want his professional hide tacked on their walls as a lesson to others:

Whoever said inquisitions and witch hunts were things of the past? A big one is going on now. The sociologist Mark Regnerus, at the University of Texas at Austin, is being smeared in the media and subjected to an inquiry by his university over allegations of scientific misconduct.

Regnerus's offense? His article in the July 2012 issue of Social Science Research reported that adult children of parents who had same-sex romantic relationships, including same-sex couples as parents, have more emotional and social problems than do adult children of heterosexual parents with intact marriages. That's it. Regnerus published ideologically unpopular research results on the contentious matter of same-sex relationships. And now he is being made to pay.

As I noted in "American Lysenkoism" (available for download here), people are being fired in this country for expressing opinions that do not conform to accepted thought.

Land of the free, home of the brave, indeed.

Are men more violent than women?

Yes. Time checks the stats - and they ain't pretty:

[M]en are nine to 10 times more likely to commit homicide and more likely to be its victims. The numbers are sobering when we look at young men. In the U.S., for example, young white males (between ages 14 and 24) represent only 6% of the population, yet commit almost 17% of the murders. For young black males, the numbers are even more alarming (1.2% of the population accounting for 27% of all homicides). Together, these two groups of young men make up just 7% of the population and 45% of the homicides. And, overall, 90% of all violent offenders are male, as are nearly 80% of the victims.

Here's an idea: Human nature, which cannot be changed by "sensitivity training" or any other means, must be taken into account in all areas of private and public decision making. Young men must have avenues for channeling their aggression in productive ways. And of course, such avenues have traditionally existed, including sports, the military, etc.

Long-standing traditions exist for a very good reason: they work. Why do they work? Because they were shaped by us and for us.

League of the South Billboard Campaign

From Michael Hill:

The League of the South has a message all freedom-loving Southerners ought to hear. It is the message of Southern independence from a sinking, corrupt, and destructive government in Washington, DC. When our people hear this message, they usually react positively to it. After all, no one in his right mind wants to go down on an obviously sinking ship.

But how many never hear our message? As much as we hate to admit it, The League of the South is still unknown to most Southerners. Why? One reason is the clutter of mass information. We get buried beneath the crush of topics that dominate the conventional news cycle and the internet. Another is the nature of our message. It’s unpopular with the “powers-that-be,” and is therefore ridiculed, marginalized, or ignored. But perhaps the main reason we remain under the radar is our lack of advertising funds.

The League of the South Board of Directors has approved a major billboard publicity campaign. At present, we have one billboard (design above) on I-75 in south Georgia. The early results have been very promising. Take a look at the website to which the billboard is linked: www.getofftitanic.com.

It will take a steady flow of money to do this project on the scale we envision, and we need your help to make it successful. As President of the League, I’m asking members and supporters to pledge $30 quarterly, $60 semi-annually, or $120 annually to the billboard campaign. If you can pledge more, we’d be much obliged. Our ultimate goal is to raise $12,000 ($3000 per quarter) over the next 12 months.

You can make a quarterly or semi-annual pledge, for which we will send you a “coupon book” as a reminder of your pledge, or you can simply make a one-time annual donation. Anything we raise over and above the necessary amount will be placed in a special fund to help with the continuation of the campaign.

We believe the campaign has merit and will prove successful in getting us out from under the radar and into the eye of the Southern public. Please make your contribution today to: LS, PO Box 760, Killen, Alabama 35645, or visit our website at www.dixienet.org to donate via credit card or PayPal.

Why "Diversity" is nonsense

Though the threat of global communism is no more, the Marxist ideology of equality has taken over government, the universities, and business. Everywhere you go, there's a "Diversity Czar" promoting the endless benefits of affirmative action (i.e., government-sanctioned discrimination).

The current mania for equality of outcome is blind to some stubborn facts that Walter Williams is happy to remind us of:

Asians routinely get the highest scores on the math portion of the SAT, whereas blacks get the lowest. Men are about 50 percent of the population, and so are women, but there's the gross injustice that men are struck by lightning six times as often as women. The population statistics for South Dakota, Iowa, Maine, Montana and Vermont show that not even 1 percent of their population is black. On the other hand, in states such as Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, blacks are overrepresented.

Finally, there's a disparity that might figure heavily in the upcoming presidential election. Twenty-four out of the 43 U.S. presidents have been 5 feet 11 inches or taller, above our population's average height. That is not an outcome that would be expected if there were not voter discrimination based upon height. Mitt Romney is 6 feet 2 inches tall, and Barack Obama is 6 feet 1 inch.

Equality cannot exist, and can only be imposed by force (which is why leftists just love big government). A society where true equality has been forced upon its population would resemble the world of Harrison Bergeron or Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge: a soulless, inhuman, brutal hell.

America First!

Here's an indication of how ideas once viewed as "extreme" are now widely embraced. This powerful call from Pat Buchanan to pull the plug on the doomed DC empire expresses the will of the vast majority of Americans:

We must roll up the empire and put America first again. We should swiftly complete Barack Obama’s work, end the war in Afghanistan and close US bases in central Asia. We should tell Ukraine and Georgia that Nato membership is closed. No US interest there justifies risking a clash with Russia. Let us tell Vladimir Putin that if he stays out of our yard, we will stay out of his.

It's only a matter of time until all that Pat advises becomes policy. Why wait? Or is the notion of a global crusade for "democracy" more important than our well-being at home?

Poverty in United States Soars

How could this happen?

The Wise Ones in DC are doing everything they can, from outsourcing our jobs to importing poverty from Mexico.

How poverty could increase is just a mystery, I suppose.

League of the South National Conference!

It was last weekend. All I can say is wow. Just wow.

I'm still catching up with the backlog from work, but, man, it was worth it! The Alabama League Building is simply wonderful - Chairman Mike Whorton and his volunteers did an outstanding job, not just on the building, but also in organizing the conference. I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting, probably the best-attended ever, and still feel the energy from the dedication and enthusiasm of the participants.

Loyal reader Pat sent me the following link to a video that I want to dedicate to the Alabama League of the South.

Quote of the day

“He was only trying to knock him out.” Father of Malik Jones, a teen accused of killing a man while playing the "knockout game."

The Joker's Razor

Jim Goad fires back at the busybodies trying to turn the Colorado movie massacre into an anti-gun crusade:
Look away from the fact that Mexico has stricter gun laws than the US and a higher gun-homicide rate. Ignore the fact that Switzerland has some of the world’s highest gun-ownership rates and a negligible gun-homicide rate. And don’t even try to compare gun-related murder rates in urban areas that have restrictive gun laws alongside low gun-homicide rates in rural areas where firearms ownership tends to be highest. And blot from your memory banks the fact that there are likely millions of privately owned AR-15 “assault weapons” in America that have never been used to commit mass murder.

Alexander Cockburn, RIP

Yes, he was a liberal. And yes, he was honest enough to research and publish his classic expose of the frauds at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Mr. Cockburn kept his cancer out of the limelight, preferring to be known for his journalism, not his disease. A salute to you, sir.

Are We "Neo-Confederates"?

Our latest link is to Stogie, an old friend. His blog is "Confederate Gray." In his latest post, he poses an interesting question about the term "Neo-Confederate," which is supposed to be an accusation:

If those who identify the South as their true homeland, who else might bear the "Neo" label? Some ideas:
  • Tibetans who want their country back from China should be called "Neo-Tibetans."
  • Hawaiians who want their nation back are "Neo-Hawaiians."
  • The South Vietnamese who want to be free of their Communist masters are "Neo-South Vietnamese."
  • Up until the 1991, when the Soviet Union unraveled, Latvians might have been called "Neo-Latvians" and Ukrainians "Neo-Ukrainians."

Ya skewered 'em, Stogie! Looking forward to your future posts.

Three heroes died in Aurora taking bullets for their girlfriends

From the Daily News:

In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.

Even in those moments of depravity and cowardice, ordinary men found extraordinary courage and died protecting the ones they loved.

I am reminded of the words of Dr. E. O. Wilson:

I am stirred by accounts of soldiers, policemen, and firemen who have died in the line of duty. I can be brought to tears with embarrassing quickness by the solemn ceremonies honoring those heroes. The sight of Iwo Jima and Vietnam Memorials pierces me for the witness they bear of men who gave so much, and who expected so little in life, and the strength ordinary people possess that held civilization together in dangerous times.

God bless you all.

I'm back!

Sorry for the limited posting, but I'm neck-deep in family and personal business, as well as preparing to attend the League of the South National Conference.

See you there!

Ed Sebesta Watch

Here's Robert Stacy McCain on Ed Sebesta:

Ed Sebesta is a guy from Up North who moved Down South, and immediately commenced to make himself obnoxious to his new neighbors, beginning in Dallas, Texas, where he lives. Like most towns in the South, Dallas has a Confederate monument. Sebesta decided this monument was a symbol of evil and petitioned the city to remove this awful blight.

His request was declined, and Sebesta’s resulting mad rage turned him into a one-man Permanent Committee of Vengeance, a bizarre single-issue derangement that endeared him to the Southern Poverty Law Center and to no one else.

Well said, Mr. McCain. Regular readers will recall we've noticed and admired Ed Sebesta's peculiar contributions to political punditry before. He's a bottomless well of ideas for conservative bloggers.

Toward the end, McCain adds this lyrical touch:

That Confederate monument still stands 60 feet tall in downtown Dallas.

If Obama wins: Will Texas secede from the union?

This post from a proud Texan is one of those good-news/bad-news stories:

Without question, the Nov. 6 election will be a do-or-die, make-or-break, Rubicon-crossing event. If the presidential election goes one way, we get a “do-over.” We’ll be given the opportunity to take the first step on a long, arduous journey back to our political and economic roots. If it goes the other way, federalism and balance of power will continue to be edged out by an overreaching federal government and an imperial presidency. Socialism will have an unbreakable hold on the economy, and a centralized government, rather than a free market, will determine business’ winners and losers.

The good news: Secession is back as an issue in politics.

The bad news: People still imagine there's a difference between the two parties. Worse, they think Mitt Romney is going to save them from big government - yes, Mitt Romney, the man who championed state-run socialized medicine in Massachusetts.

Look, a Republican Congress will NOT undo Obama Care - there are just too many government jobs at stake. Also, Romney will continue the Bush-Obama wars, and will probably expand Obama's lunatic "China Encirclement" project.

It's domestic surveillance, endless war, and more deficit spending either way.

Witness claims George Zimmerman molested her as a child

The left has been vindicated!

A witness in the case against Zimmerman claims that when she was 6, and Zimmerman was 7, he molested her.

So, by the process that passes for thought these days, that means Zimmerman is a bad person.

Racists are bad people.

Therefore, the white cracker George Zimmerman is a racist who murdered a black child.

Then and now

Barack Obama, 2008: "I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth."

Michelle Obama, 2012: "I mean, hope doesn’t get actualized in three and a half years."

A senior editor at the liberal Atlantic Magazine objects to the toxic and sloppy charge of anti-Semitism that's been leveled against one of his associates. There's a difference, he argues, between hatred of Jews and questioning the actions of the Israeli government.

We Southerners can relate. Guilt by association is a favorite tactic of the left. It's very effective at silencing dissidents.

This eloquent protest looks like a healthy sign that honest, informed debate can resume its rightful place in the political arena. For too long, it's been dominated by totalitatian political correctness, which allows nothing but the parroting of platitudes. Let's see if this revolt against forced conformity takes wing.

DC's Mountain of Debt

DC has piled up the biggest debt in the history of the world. What do our "betters" in the central government do? They build even more military bases around the world and run ads in Spanish to convince more people to sign up for food stamps. The elites who profit from the military-industrial complex, and the welfare lobbies love it. But do you think this can go on forever?

Consider these facts:

- The United States already has more government debt per capita than Greece, Portugal, Italy, Ireland or Spain does.

- the U.S. national debt will surpass 23 trillion dollars in 2015.

- At this point, the United States government is responsible for more than a third of all the government debt in the entire world.

Only fools - such as the ones in charge in the District of Corruption - could imagine such lunacy could continue for long. Just to make things worse, DC has made reform impossible. That's why we believe secession is the only answer.

Egyptians pelt Clinton motorcade with tomatoes

This is just too funny. Hillary, she of the razor tongue and eye for power, received a rough welcome in Egypt. Protestors shouted "Monica!" at her, and threw shoes at her motorcade. Guess some folks don't like foreigners telling them what to do.

And now, for our "special friend" ...

With a stubborn financial crisis sucking the life out of us, and with unemployment a persistent threat to our economic security, this is absolutely insane:

The House passed their version [H.R.4133] on May 9, pledging unlimited loyalty and riches to our "special friend" Israel, with only two congressman dissenting- Ron Paul and Democrat John Dingell of Michigan.

The U.S. Senate passed their version on Friday June 29, 2012. Known in the Senate as S.2165, the measure guaranteed an astonishing $9 billion dollars in loans to Israel (plus all fees and interest!) in addition to giving "military assistance- stockpiles of defense articles" valued at $200 million for 2013 and $200 million for 2014.

Here's an idea - since Israel is a wealthy nation, let it borrow directly from China, rather than making us get those loans and getting stuck with the interest.

Sheriff Joe Nabs 19 Illegals in Two Days, Despite Obama’s Attempts to Shut Him Down

Three cheers for Sheriff Joe! He's doing the job DC refuses to do:

It’s been a busy two days for Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies, as they captured 19 illegal aliens being smuggled into the U.S. from Guatemala and Mexico, in 3 different sweeps. And as in over 80% of such cases involving Arpaio’s department, all of the illegals were headed for states other than Arizona.

MCSO Human Smuggling Unit detectives arrested eight illegals and booked them into the 4th Avenue Jail on state human smuggling charges. During interviews with detectives, members of the group admitted to paying between $1,000 and $3,000 to be smuggled into the U.S. They were headed to Florida, North and South Carolina, officials said.

How not to fight stereotypes

No, this isn't from the Onion. This is for real:

A Quebec activist who fought the stereotyping of Muslims was charged with supporting terrorism on Friday after an RCMP investigation linked her to an alleged scheme to smuggle weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Mouna Diab, 26, was charged with committing a crime “for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group,” the RCMP said in a statement. She faces a possible life sentence if convicted.

Obama Order Gives Power to Seize Control of All Communications Systems

Obama's latest executive order claims the power to take over all communications systems. So cell phones, telephone systems, the internet - if it carries data, the commander-in-chief is the boss of it.

Can you imagine the chaos that will ensue when - not if -- this new power is invoked?

Of course, anyone who objects to this or any other Obama initiative must be racist. Or maybe even pro-terrorist. Or both.

London 2012: US Ralph Lauren uniform made in China

Of course the US Olympic uniforms weren't made in America!

Heck, these days, with our insane immigration system, even Americans aren't made in America!

Warfare State Sending US Off ‘Fiscal Cliff’

Why does the League of the South oppose DC's endless wars? Well, not only are these wars a direct threat to our freedom, they're also wrecking our economy:

The US budget deficit grew by nearly $60 billion in June, and is on track to exceed $1 trillion for the fourth straight year. By the end of this fiscal year, which ends on Sept. 30, the full budget deficit will total $1.17 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Congress and the Obama administration spend too much in every dimension, but paying for the warfare state makes up an enormous chunk of these massive deficits.

Funny, isn't it, how the Pentagon budget has grown under the Obama regime? It's enough to make you suspect there's not a dime's worth of difference between the two parties.

Who speaks for the worker?

Obama claims Romney's tenure at Bain Capital marks the Republican candidate as an outsourcer of American jobs. Obama's scored a few points painting himself as the protector of the American worker.

Oh? Let's not forget that it was Bill Clinton who pushed through the North American Free Trade Agreement. And Obama signed the Korea Free Trade Act into law with the assurance it would be a good thing for both business and labor.

Pat Buchanan reminds us of what actually resulted from both agreements:

The U.S. trade deficit with Korea tripled in one month. Imports from South Korea jumped 15 percent to $5.5 billion in April, while U.S. exports to South Korea fell 12 percent to $3.7 billion. Suddenly, the U.S. trade deficit with Seoul surged to an annual rate of $22 billion.

Shades of NAFTA. When it passed in 1993, we had a $1.6 billion trade surplus with Mexico. By 2010, our trade deficit with Mexico had reached $61.6 billion.

Does that sound like something that's helped American workers?

And look who's addressing the world forum on outsourcing: none other than Robert Reich, who was Clinton's Secretary of Labor, and an economic adviser to Obama.

Here's a little secret: DC is run by and for the big-business/big-government coalition that's dominated this country since 1865. All the talk about protecting the interests of the little guy is just that - talk.

So when some corporate mouthpiece tries to tell you "the people" are sovereign in this country, remind him that the real sovereign in DC is GovCo.

The moral basis of the Gettysburg Address

This op-ed by Kendal P. Mobley is apparently in response to a previous one by Bill Ward. I've read Mr. Mobley's article twice, and am forced to conclude that he is saying that whatever the merits of Ward's original arguments - and he admits he cannot rebut them - the bottom line is that ending slavery was such a moral imperative, nothing else matters.

That's the ideologue's ultimate refuge. Mobley's argument that "White supremacy was built into the structure of American society" and that Lincoln was therefore driven to crusade for “a new birth in freedom” reveals an embarrassing ignorance of Lincoln's views of blacks (typical of the time), but also of Lincoln's actual motives, which were to protect and consolidate the big-business/big-government coalition that had come to dominate the federal government.

The War Between the States, like all other wars, was about power and treasure, not about freeing the slaves.

Quote of the day

Majority backs Arizona on immigration crackdown law

Despite the inescapable and heavy-handed propaganda about the glories of diversity and the inevitability of a Third-World majority, a solid majority still wants to stop the flow of illegal aliens:

In the wake of the Supreme Court decision to uphold Arizona’s law allowing police to check the immigration status of those they detain, an overwhelming majority of Americans say they want to see their own states enact the same kinds of laws.

The latest Washington Times/JZ Analytics survey, released Monday night, found about two-thirds of all likely voters would like to see their own police be able to check immigration status during routine traffic stops. Support was high across most demographics, including self-identified Republicans and independents, and even Hispanics favored the policy by a 55 percent to 41 percent margin.

Like same-sex marriage, open borders is one of those issues the majority of voters rejects when permitted to express an opinion. The ruling elite, on the other hand, is hell-bound and determined to force us to accept their agenda.

Good to see there's still a little fight left in people.

Chicago police sergeant: "Tribal warfare" on the streets

There's just too much vibrancy in these neighborhoods:

Chicago is in the grips of a deadly gang war. At least 275 people have been killed in the city so far this year and many more have been shot, many of them innocent bystanders to the gang violence. Among the latest victims were 12- and 13-year-old girls shot Tuesday night. They survived.

Sgt. Matt Little leads one of the teams in Chicago's Gang Enforcement Unit. There are about 200 such officers in the city-- versus 100,000 gang members.

"Almost all the violence we're seeing now is from the gangs," Little said. "When there's a shooting we'll respond to the shooting. We'll figure out where we believe the most likely area for retaliation is and we'll work that area trying to both prevent retaliation and possibly build a case on offenders."

Notice how most of the Chicago cops are wearing jeans with blue shirts and vests that say "Police"? Not as undercover, but apparently as their normal uniform. Is that because of budget cuts?

Another odd thing about this story: The headline refers to "Tribal" violence, but there's no explanation. Are the Latinos duking it out with Blacks, as they are in Los Angeles?

Chicago was never this bad in Al Capone's day.

Southern governors secede from Medicaid

That's Politico's headline, not mine. And "secede" isn't really, correct, either. Still, it's a sign that the spirit of rebellion against unlawful authority is still alive in the South:

House Republicans are lining up to repeal the Affordable Care Act on Wednesday, but GOP governors in the South have a real plan to gut the law.

Govs. Rick Perry in Texas and Rick Scott in Florida have both said they won’t expand Medicaid to more of the working poor in their states — rejecting a central part of the law designed to cover 15 million more Americans.

What happened to the prediction that California represented the wave of the future?

Does this mean government can't continue growing forever? That deficit spending will sooner or later catch up with you? Stay tuned!

From a loyal reader:

Old Rebel, California can be the wave of the future as well as a disaster. Here are some reasons why both are true:

1. 40% of all workers in L. A. County ( L. A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal aliens
working without a green card.

2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

3. 75% of people on the most-wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

9. 21 radio stations in L. A. Are Spanish speaking.

10. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 4.9 million speak Spanish. (There are 10.2 million people in L. A. County .)

(All 10 of the above statements are from the Los Angeles Times)

I love you, you love me

Attorney General Eric Holder assured his people at the NAACP convention in Houston today that he was against voter fraud laws, which he says is just a plot to disenfranchise you-know-who.

One audience member shouted, “We love you,” to which Holder responded, “I love you back!”

There's a lot of love in Houston! And no wonder, since the NAACP takes such a special interest in voter fraud.

Why Conservatives Are Happier Than Liberals

This isn't an empty rah-rah from the right, it's the conclusion of many researchers from all over the political spectrum:

Scholars on both the left and right have studied this question extensively, and have reached a consensus that it is conservatives who possess the happiness edge. Many data sets show this. For example, the Pew Research Center in 2006 reported that conservative Republicans were 68 percent more likely than liberal Democrats to say they were “very happy” about their lives. This pattern has persisted for decades.

The article touches on a couple of explanations, including conservatives' lifestyles, which are focused on faith and family. It's true that conservatives tend to be married and attend church while liberals tend to remain single and unchurched.

Underlying those behaviors are the time-tested sustenance of traditional values. The reason those values are old is because they work.

The left despises humanity, preferring other-worldly theories about what mankind SHOULD be, if only it would obey the left's noble pronouncements. The left is incapable of appreciating the beauty and mystery of Creation. Where we see richness and variety, the left sees confusion and irrationality. Little wonder the left is always so angry at subjects that continue to go back to their old ways, even after their would-be handlers have shown them a "better" way. That's why the left is ALWAYS for more government power, including the power to destroy those who resist.

Always bitter, always convinced of their superiority, the left manifests its hatred with a manic energy. Conservatives, on the other hand, are more content, and therefore less likely to expend the time and energy to organize politically.

So what seems to be an advantage for the left is really a sign of its inherent weakness.

Ted Nugent Wonders if 'We'd Have Been Better Off if the South Had Won the Civil War'

More people now realize that the real winner at Appomattox was Big Government. Here's Ted Nugent:

The Detroit-born rocker and outspoken conservative activist writes in a new op-ed for The Washington Times of his fundamental fear of what he calls "Fedzilla," or a government with a social safety net. Triggered by Chief Justice John Roberts voting to uphold President Obama's Affordable Care Act -- but calling the mandate to buy insurance a tax instead of a penalty -- Nugent says, "Because our legislative, judicial and executive branches of government hold the 10th Amendment in contempt, I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War. Our Founding Fathers’ concept of limited government is dead."

Here's my take on what might have happened if the South had won:

- Lincoln would have been impeached for mishandling the war.

- With the rise of mechanized agriculture, slavery would die out naturally, as it did throughout the rest of the Western world.

- Due to the setback of losing the South, the US remains a manufacturing and mercantile republic, thus avoiding imperial ambitions. The Spanish-American War would never have happened. The Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico would have eventually won their freedom from Spain on their own.

- The US and the CSA would have stayed out of World War I. The belligerent European powers would have been forced to negotiate a cease-fire. The Romanov, Hapsburg, and Hohenzollern royal houses would have remained in power. Thus, no communism, no fascism, no World War II, no Korean War, no Vietnam.

Oh, and by the way:

Barney Frank marries longtime partner in Massachusetts

Congressman Barney Frank, 72, has "married" his partner Jim Ready, 42. That's a 30-year age difference!

Frank is one of the more charming members of Congress. In the mid-80s, a male prostitute he hired for sex moved in and ran a homosexual dating service from the apartment, supposedly without Frank's knowledge. Even in DC, that was too much, and the House voted 408–18 to reprimand Frank.

So this was a traditional wedding: Something old, something new, something censured, something lewd.

Hillary Clinton says Afghanistan 'major non-Nato ally'

Yes - the geniuses in DC think they're encircling China, which is why Obama is focusing so much on the Pacific these days.

It might work for a while - it's been done before - but the military option is soooo 20th century. The Empire is so invested in its own military, it cannot think of any other means of countering Chinese power, which comes not from the barrel of a gun, but from its manufacturing and entrepreneurial capabilities.

Muslim Congressman: U.S. Schools Should Be Modeled After Madrassas

"America will never tap into educational innovation and ingenuity without looking at the model that we have in our Madrassas, in our schools where innovation is encouraged. Where the foundation is the Koran," Rep. Andre Carson (D-Indiana).

And if you fail to embrace this idea, you are a white supremacist Islamophobe, and a very bad person.

Initiative would let Arizona voters overrule federal law

Once again, Arizona is showing the way:

Voters could get the right to overrule federal laws and mandates under the terms of an initiative filed late Thursday. ...

Organizer Jack Biltis said he turned in more than 320,000 signatures. The next step will be for the Secretary of State to determine, after screening the petitions, if there are at least 259,213 valid names on the forms to allow the measure to go on the ballot.

Biltis, who said he has spent more than $1.2 million on the campaign so far, said it is time for Arizona to step up and reclaim its constitutional rights.

The "flagship" example, he said, is the federal Affordable Care Act. He said there is nothing in the U.S. Constitution which gives the federal government the power to enact a national health care plan.

Wait - the PEOPLE are sovereign? Not the Supreme Court?

What a radical concept!

DOJ lawsuit: Physical test for police officers discriminates against women

Women applicants aren't passing the Corpus Christi, Texas, police exams at the same rate as men - and as EVERYONE knows, any discrepancy based on race and sex is OBVIOUSLY the result of discrimination:

The Corpus Christi, Tex. Police Department has found itself on the business end of a civil rights lawsuit after the Justice Department concluded that a physical ability test used when considering job applications discriminates against women.

As a condition for employment, new applicants must pass a physical ability test (PAT) involving: pullups, a 300-meter run, a 1.5 mile run, and sit-ups. Only 19 percent of female applicants passed this test between 2005 and 2009, compared to 63 percent of men, the DOJ complaint records.

The Justice Department says that the test discriminates against women because “use of the PAT in the screening and selection of applicants for entry-level police officer jobs is not job-related, for the entry-level police officer position,” according to the complaint.

Well. This really isn't unexpected. In Griggs vs. Duke Power, the Supreme Court ruled that IQ tests, or any job evaluation tool that produces a disparate impact on "protected groups," whether or not there's an intent to discriminate, violates America's Holy of Holies, the 1964 Civil Rights Act. So this latest move by the Obama regime is just the latest skirmish in big government's war against reality.

Egalitarianism is the ideal of demagogues and the tool of tyrants. It's easy to see why - by demanding that society conform to an impossible standard, the control freaks can delight themselves by tormenting the normal and healthy in the name of the most sacred ideal of them all - at least, in their minds. And the more their victims struggle to comply, the more morally pure the enforcers make themselves appear.

Office says Rep. Jackson being treated for 'physical and emotional ailments'

And now, on the lighter side of the news, it seems Jesse Jackson, Jr. will seek treatment for "emotional ailments." The report goes on to suggest what might be making the congressman a little nervous:

In the days before the announcement, a longtime friend of Jackson's, Raghuveer Nayak, was arrested on federal fraud charges involving Nayak's surgical centers. Nayak was at the center of the U.S. Senate seat scandal that sent former Gov. Rod Blagojevich to prison.

Jackson, 47, who has distanced himself from Nayak, remains under a House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations that Nayak offered Blagojevich up to $6 million in campaign cash to make the congressman President Barack Obama's successor in the U.S. Senate.

We've been watching this slo-mo scandal with some relish. Jackson, son of shakedown artist Rev. Jesse Jackson, openly despises both Southerners and the Constitution they largely created and defended over the decades.

Watching this enemy of liberty and all things Southern as he inevitably faces the consequences of his actions will be like sipping a fine wine.

A Most Glorious Fourth

Civil War Memory (aka, the "League of the Anti-South") is featuring a painting of Union troops occupying Vicksburg. The title of the post is, "A Most Glorious Fourth."

After all, what could be more glorious than crushing self-determination?

In California, immigration bill designed as the "anti-Arizona"

Looks like the California death spiral has accelerated:

While America's debate over immigration has been dominated recently by crackdowns in states like Arizona and Alabama, California legislators are trying to turn that tide with a bill to protect illegal immigrants that they dub the "anti-Arizona." ...

The California bill, which has the support of over 100 immigrant rights groups, police chiefs and mayors, was drafted not only as a symbolic counter to legislation in neighboring Arizona, but also to push back against a federal program called Secure Communities that shares the same principles as Arizona's law, supporters say.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, or ICE, established the Secure Communities program in partnership with local law enforcement agencies and the FBI to deport unauthorized immigrants.

Let's see if this blatant effort to block DC's half-hearted attempt to enforce immigration law will be condemned for interfering with federal policies, as liberals claimed the Arizona law did.

Muhammad vs. the Attendant!

Muhammad Ali was once on a plane when turbulence hit. A flight attendant ordered all passengers to fasten their seat belts.

Ali ignored her. She came over to his seat and politely asked him to fasten his seat belt. Ali, never noted for his modesty, replied, "Superman don't need no seat belt." Without missing a beat, the attendant responded, "Superman don't need no airplane!"

Snopes says this story is "undetermined," so it's probably true.

"In 1776, America was already part of a multi-national, multi-religious, polyglot empire—the British Empire which already had African, Hindu and Chinese subjects, as well as French Catholic subjects in Quebec, and Spanish Catholic subjects on various islands.

The New Model Military

"Patriotism" in post-American America means worshiping the military. And of course, an "American" in post-American America can refer to anyone, whether they come here legally, of if they choose to break and enter. But instead of referring to America's traditional demographics, "American" is now synonymous with "immigrant." So what better way to express one's patriotism than to celebrate the military's program of fast-tracking immigrants through the naturalization process? From the Los Angeles Times:

The federal government has a program to expedite citizenship applications from military personnel. Three times each year — just before Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Veterans Day — the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services holds naturalization ceremonies in San Diego strictly for members of the military. ...

"Our nation was founded by young patriots like yourself," retired Rear Adm. Mac McLaughlin, president and chief executive officer of the Midway Museum, told the gathering.

Yes, they're EXACTLY like the Founding Fathers, as the next paragraph makes clear:

In addition to China and Jamaica, the new citizens hailed from Mexico, the Philippines, American Samoa, Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Guatemala, Kenya, Poland, Taiwan, Thailand and Venezuela.

If you look at the article, you may notice the left column (how appropriate!) featuring op-eds promoting open borders.

Is this what's supposed to take the place of real patriotism? I'm supposed to get all teary-eyed reading a story about Third-World colonization?

No, thanks.

Homeland Security Report Lists ‘Liberty Lovers’ As Terrorists

Now let me get this straight - we have leftist thugs attacking elderly people as they sit down to eat at a family restaurant, sending innocent victims to the hospital, and anarchists plotting to blow up bridges - but the Department of Homeland Security has its eyes on conservatives who are "suspicious of centralized federal authority"? Yep! Read it for yourself:

A new study funded by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.

Entitled Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970-2008 (PDF), the study was produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland. The organization was launched with the aid of DHS funding to the tune of $12 million dollars.

While largely omitting Islamic terrorism - the report fails completely to mention the 1993 World Trade Center bombing – the study focuses on Americans who hold beliefs shared by the vast majority of conservatives and libertarians and puts them in the context of radical extremism.

Wow! So-called "patriots" who are "reverent of individual liberty" and are "suspicious of centralized federal authority" are loose in this country? Fortunately, the Department of Homeland Security and the Southern Poverty Law Center have been documenting their activities, and know their every movement.

They even have a surveillance painting of these extremists plotting their subversive activities:

USDA combats ‘mountain pride,’ self-reliance to boost food stamp rolls

The point of every government program is to increase the power of government. Undermining self-reliance is a sure path to making government central to the lives of the subject population. And this story illustrates that point vividly:

The USDA has adopted a range of strategies and programs designed to bring more people to SNAP, including taking on “pride.” A 2011 Hunger Champions Award document reveals that local assistance offices have been rewarded for “counteracting” pride and pushing more people to sign up for benefits.

The Ashe County Department of Social Services in Jefferson, N.C., for example, received a “Gold” award for confronting “mountain pride” and increasing food stamp participation by 10 percent.

Remember the old joke, "We're from the federal government, and we're here to help!"? It's funny because the implicit warning is true - government is a destructive force in society because natural order is an impediment to the growth of government power.

Our enemies know that. We need to know it, too.

Illegal Alien Parents to Benefit from President's DREAM Act Decree

The Obama regime has just sent a clear message to illegal aliens future Democrats - have more anchor babies. They're the ticket to the ad hoc amnesty Obama granted them. Don't believe it? Here's Big Sister herself spelling it out:

BLITZER: What about the parents of these children? The children come forward now, they identify themselves. Should the parents be concerned that potentially they could be deported? They would now be identified as illegal immigrants.

NAPOLITANO: No. We are not going to do that. We have internally set it up so that the parents are not referred for immigration enforcement if the young person comes in for deferred action.

La Duce then tosses in some empty assurances about how Obama's decree only applies to children, but the intent here is pretty transparent.

Not sure if that's the kind of transparency candidate Obama promised ...

TV legend Andy Griffith dies at 86

From the Charlotte Observer:

He was a vocalist, an actor, a stand-up comic, a producer and once even a schoolteacher, but we knew him best for creating the mythic Mayberry, a Camelot in bib overalls where home-spun wisdom reigned.

I grew up watching Andy and Barney and Ernest T. and the Darlings. Andy Griffith will always be remembered.

In tribute, here's my favorite episode: "Opie and the Bully."

The storm approaching Charlotte

The Charlotte city government has issued permits to various groups to protest at designated areas and to speak at a city-provided platform during the Democratic National Convention in September.

Here's a partial list of the groups with permits to protest, with links to their home pages:

Raleigh FIST, which believes "the only way to achieve true liberation for all peoples throughout the world is through socialism" and is therefore "dedicated to achieving such a society by building a multi-national, multi-gendered organization of revolutionary youth." They even come out and admit they intend to achieve that by "overthrowing bourgeois society for a socialist future." (They seem to mean it, too - check out their tribute to mass-murderer Che Guevera.)

Students for a Democratic Society of Chapel Hill, UNC Asheville, and NC State. You remember the SDS? That was radical bomber Bill Ayers's group back in the 60s. And their radical rhetoric hasn't changed a bit since then:

Oppressed people are at the forefront of movements for liberation. We understand that our work must target structures of domination in order to build powerful diverse movements for change. We realize that lines of power cut deep in our society, and we must be grounded in the work of combating systems of white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism, imperialism, heterosexism, transphobia, and the many other forms of oppression thoughtfully and strategically.

And let's not forget the Occupy movement, which promises to be a major presence in Charlotte come September. In the Observer article, Occupy Charlotte member Michael Zytkow expressed his disgust with the city's rules:

“The parade route is abysmal,” he said. “We essentially want the right to speak at a zone that would not be far from the convention.”

“We denounce the government telling us where we can or cannot march,” Zytkow said.

Think these cats are going to behave?

Oh, and I almost forgot - 20,000 Muslims will also converge on Charlotte to host their own events during the DNC, including a massive public prayer.

I don't foresee any possible problems. Do you?

Catholicism Comes To Dixie

Here's an interesting and overlooked piece of Southern history with significant modern-day implications:

Virtually all of the South's major Civil War heroes were Episcopalians, from Jefferson Davis to Robert E. Lee. Not only were they just ordinary Episcopalians, but "high church" Episcopalians at that. The "high church" Episcopalian movement began in the United States between 1790 to 1820. It was an attempt by American Episcopalians to recover much of what had been lost from English Christianity after the Reformation period. This included the recovery of liturgy, vestments and sacraments. Granted, there wasn't necessarily much theological development behind these things initially. It was simply an attempt to get in touch with one's ancient Christian roots, and this accompanied the return of Romanesque architecture in the Old South.

Thought for the day

"Just think - homosexual marriage is illegal here in North Carolina, but Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow could still marry each other." Email from a Pesky Reader.

Quote of the day

"Our power will only increase as time goes on. Because of demographics, as goes the future of the Latino family, so goes the future of the United States." Rep. Charlie Gonzalez, chairman of the House Hispanic Caucus.

See? And everyone thinks assimilation is this BIG problem. In fact, we're assimilating to our colonizers just fine.

Tim Wise the hypocrite

Kudos to loyal reader Harold who caught the following comment on a leftist web site I linked to recently. It has some interesting information about Tim Wise, the trigger-happy, endlessly bloviating windbag:

According to the Assessor of Property for Davidson County TN, the anti-white propagandist agitator Tim Wise lives in a house worth $639,300. The neighborhood he lives in, in Census Tract 134, is 97% white and ZERO PERCENT BLACK.

Tim Wise is a hypocrite.

Look him up for yourself:

Current Property Mailing Address
State TN
Address 4405 WESTLAWN DR
Zip 37209

You can find the racial makeup (97% white, zero percent black) of Tim Wise’s neighborhood in Census Tract 134 by using the “Mapping America” webpage from the New York Times, just enter in his address that I have provided above:

Tim Wise is a hypocrite. He gets rich off of creating racial division and he doesn’t practice what he preaches. “Diversity for thee, but not for me” seems to be Tim Wise’s real motto.

97% white? Whoa - I used the site to look up the demographics in my neighborhood - it's only 86% white.

That makes me 11% more tolerant than Tim Wise.

White House salaries increasing

And conservatives claimed Obama wasn't improving the economy!

US opposes ‘world heritage status’ for Jesus’s birthplace.

Now why would a "Christian nation" oppose such a thing? Here's why.

Florida governor will not implement ObamaCare

State nullification is the only possible remedy for an out-of-control federal government, whether you're talking about stopping illegal immigration or socialized medicine.

This day in history

In 2000, the Confederate flag was removed from the South Carolina statehouse.

And almost overnight, the black-white performance gap vanished in the schools, crime in black communities disappeared, and black illegitimacy rates plummeted.
