Could the Carolinas secede in wake of Obama's re-election?

Now things are getting interesting! From WBTV:

Could North Carolina and South Carolina secede from the Union again? New petitions posted on the White House's website are stirring the debate with thousands of supporters in favor of the movement.

In less than 48 hours, more than 4,700 people have signed a petition asking the Obama Administration to allow South Carolina to secede. A separate petition for North Carolina already has more than 7,200 signatures.

North Carolina and South Carolina are among 21 states with active petitions on the White House website seeking secession.
The comments are very revealing. The antis have nothing but insults in their quiver. All they can do is scream that support for self-government is evidence of "treason" and, oh yes, "racism." Can't say as I blame them - how do you defend an authoritarian government that claims the power to launch wars, imprison its dissidents, and even execute its citizens at will? Name-calling is all the defenders of empire have left.

Face it: The news is out. DC has lost its legitimacy.

My sig is on the North Carolina petition!

Old Rebel, I'll have to admit that your assessment of an Obama 2nd term appears to be spot-on, and taking effect with lightning speed.
This would not be happening if the Plastic Republican had won. My apologies for any doubts I had.

I reckon Obama is the catalyst for Hope and Change after all, in ways his supporters did not expect.

I don't care who finally does it, you all in the Carolinas or the Yankees up in Vermont, but somebody needs to get this thing initiated. One of my main worries, however, is all the foreigners, including statist Yankees, who have moved into the region over the past decades. As you know, they're all over Charlotte, the Research Triangle, and down in Southern Pines/Pinehurst where we lived.

One step at a time, though!

Texas has the requisite signatures. Lets see if they get taken seriously. In the meantime, I better go sign ours.

rex osborne,

I need to get my name on that petition. If nothing else, it's an effective way to get our message out.

And once folks realize there's an organization out there waiting for them, things will REALLY start rolling.

David Smith,

I'm reminded of Robert E. Lee's counsel: "It is history that teaches us to hope."

In every struggle, you have countrymen who fight against you. Every people will have their quislings and kapos to deal with. It's just part of the battle we have to fight.

Roger u,

Thanks for the reminder! And let's spread the word.

I like that observation: "all people around here need Is a reason to believe it's possible." So true. Perhaps now political leaders will step up and take up the cause of their people.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18
King James Version (KJV)

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

They played most of you for chumps when you went out and voted. If there is one lesson that people need to take away from last week it is that we will NEVER vote our way out of this. That is a lost dream. Never again be so foolish as to think that the political process is still fair and intact in America. The answers lie in other directions.
