This day in history

In 1936, Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind was published.

Quote of the day

"The War between the States established . . . this principle, that the federal government is, through its courts, the final judge of its own powers." Woodrow Wilson, in his book, Constitutional Government in the United States (p. 178)

That's why we have Open Borders, ObamaCare, Affirmative Action, and surveillance drones.

Secure your wifi!

Because you don't want this to happen.

We list. You decide. From

The Patriot Act (Passed in 2001 and extended in in 2011 with additional controls) expands law enforcement powers and removes civil liberties and constitutionally guaranteed rights.

The National Defense Authorization Act, passed on 31st December, 2011, allows the indefinite imprisonment by the military of any "suspects" (including American citizens on American soil) without allowing due process of law.

The MAP-21 Bill, which allows the Internal Revenue Service to suspend the passport rights of Americans, based on the premise that their tax obligations may be unfulfilled.

The National Defense Resources Preparedness order, created in March, 2012, allows the President to take over control of all food, water, labour and industry in the US, "to promote national defense."

30,000 drones to fly over the US allowed by executive order, February, 2012, providing the government with an Orwellian surveillance ability and a killing capacity ranging from selected individuals to entire communities.

Circa 1885, folk philosopher James Whitcomb Riley said, "When I see a bird that walks like a duck and swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck."

Justice Department shields Holder from prosecution after contempt vote

I with AG Holder on this one. I have nothing but contempt for Congress myself.

Be the liberals' Dr. Doolittle

Don't argue with lefties, says Gavin McInnes - if you really want to mess them up, talk to them in their own language. Agree with them - then shift your weight and flip them into an ideological free-fall zone. It's intellectual judo for conservatives, and it looks like fun. An example:

Fran Lebowitz pointed out, “No one earns $100 million. You steal $100 million.” Agree with Fran. Say, “These guys aren’t entrepreneurs. They’re slave drivers.” Then you can add, “That’s the saddest part about illegal immigration. It only benefits rich whites in both countries. Poor Mexicans on both sides of the border are worse off for it, and black workers in California are the first ones to lose jobs to illegal—sorry—undocumented workers.”

Don’t say, “Multiculturalism is a weakness,” because the liberal hears, “Having a variety of restaurants scares me because I’m racist.” Instead say, “High schools in California have metal detectors and the tension between blacks and Hispanics is getting so bad, it’s bordering on a race war. Why? So rich whites can ‘steal’ another $100 million.”

Avoid the carnage of war

This blog has long argued that Mr. Lincoln's War was unnecessary, destructive, and directly responsible for creating a consolidated political power that has since behaved badly at home and around the world, just as Robert E. Lee predicted.

We often butt heads with the "court historians" who sell the official version of that war, which is the foundation myth of the DC Empire as the "great liberator." So it's a pleasant surprise to see a university professor and author questioning both Mr. Lincoln's War and DC's policy of perpetual war:
More than 750,000 men died in the Civil War. Extrapolated to today’s population, the death toll would be close to 10 million. Millions lost their husbands, brothers and sons, and soldiers who survived returned home maimed in mind or body. Most historians today would lament the casualties, but commend the outcome: the liberation of 4 million slaves.

I disagree. The Civil War was a war of choice brought on by the insidious mixture of politics and religion that caused our political process and, ultimately, the nation to disintegrate. The war’s outcome did end slavery, but could we have achieved this noble objective without the slaughter? The U.S. was the only slaveholding nation to abolish slavery with a civil war.

Mr. Goldfield concludes with this warning: "we should remember that wars are easily made, difficult to end, and burdened with unintended consequences and unforeseen human casualties."

That's an invaluable lesson.

"Manna from Heaven"

That's what Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.) said of ObamaCare in the online zine "NewsOne For Black Americans."

Yes. Manna is exactly what this is - a free, miraculous benefit to all! Isn't it wonderful?

NAACP Chairman Roslyn M. Brock issued this statement:

"The NAACP has long supported the full and complete implementation of this law. Access to quality, affordable health care is a civil and human right that should not be reserved for the wealthy or the few."

Subsidized health care is now a civil right? When does a house, a car, and anything else you want become a civil right?

By the way, notice the ad about a quarter of the way down in the right column of the referenced article. It says, "NewsOne on Reparations - Will we ever get our due?"

I think they just got it.

League of the South statement on Obamacare ruling

Our thanks to the black-robed deities on the Supreme Court.

This day in history

In 1767, the British Parliament approved the Townshend Acts. Opposition to these new taxes ultimately led the 13 colonies to secede from Britain.

Funny how history repeats itself.

Is secession the only way out of Obama Care?

From Nolan Chart:

There is no question that Obama Care is not what the Founding Fathers intended. And thirty some states have filed lawsuits against Obama Care. And presently 67% of Americans oppose imposing Obama Care on us! So, can we leave? Can we go through the process of convening a state convention to deal with the question of legal secession?

Maybe Obama has done something good for America. Maybe this particular exercise of imposing socialism on America will provide a second opportunity for the people to say, we are leaving.

Is there anyone out there who really believes Congress will repeal ObamaCare? Since when does ANY government decide it's taken too much power and restores freedom?

Quote of the day, Part II

"As president, Mitt will nominate judges in the mold of Chief Justice Roberts ..."

Just like Dubya did!

Dallas NAACP Wants Texas Lottery Shut Down

The lottery is a tax on people who can't do math. So why is the NAACP shocked - shocked! - that poor people are the lottery's best customers?

The Dallas chapter of the NAACP wants to stop seeing low income Texans pumping money into the state lottery by putting it out of business.

In poorer communities, though, the lottery seems to offer the chance at a life otherwise out of reach.

A study paid for by the Texas Lottery Commission says the people most likely to play Pick 3 are those making $20,000 a year or less –– below the poverty line. And people who are unemployed are more likely to buy scratch-off tickets than those who have jobs or retirees, the study found. ...

They have this delusion that they’re going to win,” said chapter president Dr. Juanita Wallace. “I want them to shut it down,” she said. “Our people are spending their little money, their life savings away in hopes of winning.”

Some people can't handle freedom, therefore, none of us can be free. That's fair.

GOP: Trust DC

This is just unreal. In the aftermath of the Supreme Court's ruling supporting ObamaCare, the GOP is cautioning opponents NOT to do anything rash, such as nullifying this unconstitutional power grab at the State level - as the legislature in Missouri has done.

Instead, we're supposed to trust that the federal government will reform itself and save us all:

Republican governors are planning to ignore the Supreme Court's decision Thursday to uphold Obamacare hoping that the issue will drive voters to dump President Obama in favor of Mitt Romney who has vowed to kill the Affordable Care Act.

After the decision, the Republican Governors Association said that nothing should be done by the states until after the election, a clear signal that they believe a GOP president, House and Senate will kill the health care reform pushed through by Democrats and opposed by Republicans.

After all, the two-party hoax system has worked SO WELL for us ...

Obama and the League of the South

From Michael Hill:

Within half an hour after the SCOTUS made its ruling on ObamaCare, we got our first new member because of that ruling. Here is his message to me:

"With the Obamacare decision, I can no longer pretend we live in a constitutional republic as envisioned by the founders. So, with the burden of pretending it is so (even with the evidence to the contrary) off my chest, I've applied for membership in the League of the South and have also submitted an additional donation."

ObamaCare stands!

By a 5-4 decision, straining their unique powers to read between the lines, the Supreme Court has ruled ObamaCare constitutional.

This makes it official - the federal government can do ANYTHING it wants. There are no limits to its power, no matter what the Constitution says about it being restricted to only those powers delegated to it. So an order to private citizens to purchase government-approved health insurance is okey-dokey:

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the individual health-insurance mandate that is at the heart of President Obama’s landmark health-care law, saying the mandate is permissible under Congress’s taxing authority.

The potentially game-changing, election-year decision — a major victory for the White House less than five months before the November elections --will help redefine the power of the national government and affect the health-care choices of millions of Americans.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. sided with the majority in voting to uphold the law, Obama’s signature domestic initiative.

If you're wondering how we can resist, read that last paragraph again about Justice Roberts standing with the government supremacists. Just as in the Arizona immigration case this week, Roberts has voted for unlimited government power.

But - W nominated Roberts!

Yes, he did. So if you think working for Republican candidates for president will restore limited, constitutional government, you just got another reminder you're chasing unicorns and rainbows. When you're through with that, you might want to consider the Founders' solution - secession.

Hispanics boost big government

This Gallup poll explains why Democrats want to import more Hispanics:

The majority (56%) of Hispanic registered voters in the U.S. believe the government should "do more to solve our country's problems." This is more than the 37% of all American registered voters who say the same. ...

Hispanic voters who were not born in the U.S. differ most from the views of all Americans. Hispanic voters not born in this country tilt by 61% to 22% toward the view that government should be more involved in solving problems.

Of course they do. That's the whole point.

Quote of the day

"The modern industrial urban centers are ‘pluralistic’ because they are full of refugees from destroyed communities, destroyed community economies, disintegrated local cultures, and ruined local ecosystems." Wendell Berry

DHS denies Virginia's request for 287(g) agreement

The Obama regime won't let a few legalities get in the way. The sole provision of Arizona's immigration enforcement law the Supreme let stand, to question and check the immigration status of suspects, has been effectively gutted. ICE has simply ended its agreement to share data with seven Arizona law enforcement agencies. Voila!

So this news from Virginia is no surprise:

On Tuesday, Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has denied his request for the Virginia State Police to join the 287(g) program which trains local and state law enforcement to identify illegal aliens in custody for possible deportation.

Gov. McDonnell told reporters: "I'm incredibly disappointed with the Obama administration."

We should all be disappointed - but not surprised.

Black Lawmakers Plot 'Walkout Strategy' During Holder Contempt Vote

No one but the Congressional Black Caucus could get away with this:

The Congressional Black Caucus has called a members-only "emergency" meeting on Thursday to plot a "walkout strategy" ahead of the scheduled contempt vote of Attorney General Eric Holder later in the day.

The plans, detailed in an email from the executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus obtained by the Alley, include circulating a letter disapproving of the vote and having lawmakers walk out of the Capitol to hold a press conference during the roll call.

It's nice how Holder's people are sticking by him.

Study: Racism is hot-wired into human brain

Leftists despise humans. They think humans can be transformed, Frankenstein-style, into something else, something that conforms to their notions of what we should be. That's why they're constantly at war with human nature.

All thought and action that deviates from the leftist agenda is demonized as "racist." It's no accident that the word was coined by the Soviets.

Conservatives, on the other hand, appreciate the complexity and depth of the human soul, and know that the very natural feelings people have for their own are what make life interesting and civilization possible. It's those feelings of affection and loyalty that leftists try to twist as "hate."

So I'm sure this story will drive the lefties absolutely nuts:

The human brain is predisposed to racism because areas that detect ethnicity and those controlling emotion are tightly connected, with fear often the overwhelming thought.

The finding comes from researchers in the US who pulled together results from 17 brain-imaging studies designed to tease out the brain circuitry of race, emotion and decision-making.

But I'm sure the leftist jihad against reality will sputter on.

Dump General Mills!

In the holy name of "diversity," this fake-food behemoth promotes the homosexual agenda, including same-sex marriage.

In response, conservatives are refusing to buy or eat General Mills products.

Truth is, NO ONE needs the starchy, sugary junk this company manufactures and peddles. We'll all be better off without Lucky Charms, Bugles, or Hamburger Helper. So do yourself and your loved ones a favor - two favors, actually - and protect them from General Mills's noxious products.

President of the California Association of Human Relations Organizations Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

I wouldn't normally post this kind of story - but not only is this man an icon of the left, we've been lectured SO MANY TIMES that this sort of thing does not happen that I just couldn't resist:

San Francisco police have arrested veteran gay rights advocate Larry Brinkin in connection with felony possession of child pornography.

Brinkin, 66, who worked for the San Francisco Human Rights Commission before his retirement in 2010, was taken into custody Friday night. He spent the night in jail before he was released on bail, according to a spokeswoman.

I think this man deserves a cookie:

'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Flops at the Box Office

Red ink is flowing from Hollywood's oddest tribute yet to The Great Tyrant.

Maybe now's the time for something like this:

Arizona ruling a blow to States' Rights

Confused by the conflicting reactions to the Supreme Court's ruling on Arizona's immigration law? That's no surprise, seeing as how much confusion is out there these days. To clarify, check out the Southern Poverty Law Center's reaction:

“Today’s decision is a blow to Arizona’s anti-immigrant law and similar copycat laws that have sprung up in other states,” said Mary Bauer, legal director for the SPLC. “The court’s decision affirms that much of these laws are unconstitutional because they are preempted by federal law and that they have significant concerns about the one provision they allowed to stand.”

Rule of thumb: If the Treason Lobby's mouthpiece likes it, it's bad.

The bottom line is that once again, the central government has usurped power. The precedent established is that it can ignore any law it doesn't like, and tell the people of the States what they can and cannot do. Justice Scalia's dissent is direct to the point:

Federal power over immigration comes from the same source as state power over immigration: it is an inherent attribute—perhaps the fundamental attribute— of sovereignty. The States, of course, are sovereign, the United States being a Union of sovereign States. To be sovereign is necessarily to possess the power to exclude unwanted persons and things from the territory. That is why the Constitution’s prohibition of a State’s imposing duties on imports made an exception for “what may be absolutely necessary for executing it’s inspection Laws.”

In his conclusion, Scalia demonstrates how the Court's ruling clearly violates the original intent of the States in ratifying the Constitution:

Would the States conceivably have entered into the Union if the Constitution itself contained the Court’s holding? Imagine a provision—perhaps inserted right after Art. I, §8, ci. 4, the Naturalization Clause—which included among the enumerated powers of Congress “To establish Limitations upon Immigration that will be exclusive and that will be enforced only to the extent the President deems appropriate.” The delegates to the Grand Convention would have rushed to the exits from Independence Hall."

Finally, let's remember that Chief Justice Roberts, a George W. Bush appointee, sided WITH the majority.

So there's only one conclusion to draw from this ruling: Democrat, Republican, it doesn't matter - the central government is completely self-serving and out of control. It is determined to impose demographic revolution from above on the people of the States. That means the people have NO OTHER recourse than themselves and the institutions closest to them. All the major problems we face today ARE THE CREATION of the federal government, from the financial crisis, to terrorism, to the loss of liberty, to uncontrolled immigration. In all those areas, State and local governments provide the ONLY possible relief.

Supreme Court kills 3 of 4 provisions in Arizona immigration law

Once again, the federal government has defined its own power. The question now is: Will the people of Arizona take this sitting down?

A word to the Wise

The "Un-Fair To Be White" campaign has picked up a very UN-surprising supporter - Tim Wise. You remember our "Uncle Tim," don't you? He wrote this nasty little screed after Obama's "shellacking" in the 2010 election:
And in the pantheon of American history, old white people have pretty much always been the bad guys, the keepers of the hegemonic and reactionary flame, the folks unwilling to share the category of American with others on equal terms.

Fine, keep it up. It doesn’t matter.

Because you’re on the endangered list.

And unlike, say, the bald eagle or some exotic species of muskrat, you are not worth saving.

I told you it was nasty. But gleefully fantasizing about white genocide is okey-dokey among "progressive" types. Besides, as the "Un-Fair" campaign makes clear, there's no greater evil in the world than "white privilege," so a little white genocide would be a good thing.

Now I know what you're thinking - if there's this widespread, secret conspiracy among white people to make more money than minorities, the best way to defeat it is for "enlightened" whites to voluntarily surrender a chunk of their ill-gotten gains to a random minority.

But read this account of what happened when a black "anti-racism" activist challenged "Uncle Tim" to do just that. It'll make your day.

Importing corruption

Stories like this are becoming commonplace:

The FBI staged a dramatic raid in the small, majority-Latino town this morning, reports the Times, to arrest Mayor David Silva, along with City Councilman Osvaldo Conde and ex-Assistant City Manager Angel Perales. (Suspiciously, Perales was just fired earlier this week. In the past, he's served as vice mayor and city code enforcer -- classic southeast-circle nepotism.)

Their charges?

The U.S. attorney's office wants Silva, Conde and Perales for "soliciting and accepting $17,000 in bribes from someone who wanted to open a medical marijuana dispensary in Cudahy," according to the Times.

Bribes are ingrained in Mexican culture. Mexicans even have a name for it: "La mordida." The bite. It's how you get things done there, whether you're dealing with the police or public officials. Wal-Mart executives in Mexico were recently accused of "widespread bribery" in their efforts to expand operations.

As Mexican colonization grows, prepare to see more stories like this.

Stop ObamaCare in Missouri

Activist alert from the Catholic Knight:

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has still not signed SB 749. For those of you not familiar, this legislation was passed by both houses of the Missouri legislature, and if signed into law by Governor Nixon, it would effectively nullify Obama's HHS mandate in the State of Missouri.

Obama's HHS mandate is a presidential diktat (executive order) that will require all religious institutions and employers to pay for contraception, sterilisation, and chemical abortions. SB 749 will nullify this in the state of Missouri, effectively insuring religious freedom for the people of the state.

Republicans back Romney's amnesty plan

Obama has his amnesty plan, so Romney had to cook up his own. And even those few Republicans who've denounced Obama's plan either praised Romney or kept their mouths shut.

Meanwhile, outside the District of Corruption, 52% of Americans favor Arizona-style immigration enforcement, while 11% think Arizona's law isn't tough enough.

So who's OUR candidate? And they call this a democracy?

EU should 'undermine national homogeneity' says UN migration chief

Yes, he used the word "undermine." And just who is this "UN migration chief" who wants to "undermine" Europe's traditional demographics? Check it out:

Peter Sutherland told peers the future prosperity of many EU states depended on them becoming multicultural. ...

Mr Sutherland, who is non-executive chairman of Goldman Sachs International and a former chairman of oil giant BP, heads the Global Forum on Migration and Development, which brings together representatives of 160 nations to share policy ideas.

Of course this fat cat wants more immigration. By importing cheap, exploitable labor, big business depresses middle-class wages, generating obscene corporate profits. But that's not all: immigration also destroys social cohesion and trust. Rootless big business wants a world where close-knit communities do not exist, where individuals are friendless, deracinated, and alone. All the better to exploit them.

Big government relishes such a future.

When I hear Occupy protesters denounce both the destruction of the middle class and the obscene profits of big business, then in the next breath agree with big business about the glories of multiculturalism, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

3 South Carolina soldiers killed, 5 injured in Afghanistan suicide bombing

Have we sacrificed enough for the Empire? And how many more are we willing to let die for an unwinnable occupation?

Behind the Crack-up of the Right

In his review of Paul Gottfried's Leo Strauss and the Conservative Movement in America, Pat Buchanan notes the difference between Neocons and actual conservatives stems from how each defines nation and identity:

For traditional conservatives, before the nation is born, “ethnic and cultural preconditions” must exist. All “successful constitutional orders,” he writes, “are the expressions of already formed nations and cultures.” ...

Irving Kristol, he writes, and quotes that founding father of modern neoconservatism, saw America as “a ‘creedal’ nation, a nation to which anyone can belong irrespective of ‘ethnicity or blood ties of any kind, or lineage, or length of residence even.’” ...

Rather than an academic exercise, this difference has profound policy implications. Buchanan explains:

If one believes America is not a normal nation with definable interests, but a creedal nation dedicated to democracy, equality and human rights, one has converted to what Kristol called a “civic religion.” And the mission of that faith is to advance the work begun in 1776, to make America — then the entire world — free, democratic and egalitarian.

If your spine just tingled upon reading the Neocon's ultimate goal, that's because it echoes that of world communism - which makes perfect sense, seeing as how the founding Neocons were communists.

One of the problems with perpetual war in the name of liberating the world is that a nation at war must compromise its freedom. That's exactly what we're seeing here at home - DC's militarism incites terrorism, which requires more domestic spying, which boosts the government's power over us. No wonder we now have a central government that claims the power to arrest and execute its subjects at will.

Abraham Lincoln proposed a startlingly similar reinterpretation of American citizenship. In a 4th of July speech in 1858, Lincoln told his audience that American principles were meant for all peoples, not just Americans [never mind that the Constitution specifically stated that its purpose was to "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity"]. Instead, said Lincoln, the democratic ideals that inspired the Founders applied to everyone in the world, "as though they were blood of the blood and flesh of the flesh of the men who wrote it."

Thus was born the notion that America DID roam the world in search of monsters. But in doing so, we have spawned an even greater monster here at home.

Welsh people could be most ancient in UK, DNA suggests

The Anglo-Celtic roots of Southern culture continue to shape our politics, which is why we find Celtic studies so fascinating. Here's an interesting study on the most mysterious Celts of them all, the Welsh:

Professor Peter Donnelly, of Oxford University, said the Welsh carry DNA which could be traced back to the last Ice Age, 10,000 years ago.

The project surveyed 2,000 people in rural areas across Britain. ...

Prof Donnelly said: "People from Wales are genetically relatively distinct, they look different genetically from much of the rest of mainland Britain, and actually people in north Wales look relatively distinct from people in south Wales."

Those Nigerian email scams

Ever wonder why those Nigerian email scams are so poorly written? They promise easy money in pitches that mix highfalutin language with such embarrassing grammar, you'd think Ed Sebesta was writing them.

Turns out the moronic writing style is actually a feature rather than a bug. Using mathematical modeling techniques, analysts have concluded that well-written email scams would not work as well. Poorly written messages repel smart people, so the only ones dense enough to click on the "Reply" button rather than "Delete" will be gullible enough to give perfect strangers their bank account numbers.

But as Will Rogers once reminded us, everyone's ignorant about something. The same technique that separates fools from their money also works to convince otherwise smart people to sacrifice their Constitutional rights, their tax dollars, and even their children.

Who can forget this message at the onset of the Iraq War?

To: American patriot

From: George W. Bush, American Top Gun Hero and Beloved President

I regret any initial embarrassment my letter might cause you, as we have not had any correspondence before this time. My name is George W. Bush, and am the son of George Herbert Walker Bush, the elected president of the United States of America. In my capacity as the legally elected successor to my father, I am contacting you with a proposition that will be beneficial to the both of us.

You may have heard that terrorists stalk our land of the free. They want to use horrible weapons of mass destruction that can be entrusted to no one but me and nations that are friendly to me. It is my desire and responsibility to protect you from these terrible people who hate us because of our freedoms.

Here is my proposition to you: if you can provide me with the permission and the keys to enter your home and place of business without a warrant, and to monitor your emails and the web sites you visit, and to strip your American citizenship and subject you to deportation (if you are lucky), or to the execution cells at Guantanamo Bay, conveniently located in Cuba, then I will be able to protect you from the forces of evil which are even today everywhere in our great country. Only these measures which you will happily and patriotically accept will ensure your continued freedom and happiness. Trust me.

And thus millions of mainstream conservatives supported a war that has diminished, rather than protected, our liberty.

But are liberals immune to this kind of thing? Just ask the ones who've donated to the fabulously wealthy Southern Poverty Law Center after falling for the SPLC's fearmongering. Will Rogers was right.

It's "unfair" to be white

Everyone's equal, but the illusion of race perpetuates inequality. If we can just convince enough white people to scrawl anti-racism slogans on their faces, then the illusion will be burst, and injustice will disappear.

Or something like that. Here are some enlightened kapos who say it better than I ever could:

Liberal Study: Anchor Babies, Immigrant Kids Destroying Economy

No surprises here. All politicians cheerfully sacrifice the country's interests for their short-term gains. Obama's found his roller skates with Latinos:

Here’s more hard evidence that Barack Obama’s newly announced amnesty for “kids” under age 30 is creating long-term damage to America. And it’s a policy, by the way, which Mitt Romney wouldn’t say he’d reverse . . . because he won’t. We’ve long known that anchor babies–not just their illegal alien parents–are a huge drain on American society and our dying economy. They cost the State of California–just that state–billions of dollars. But now even a liberal children’s foundation is sounding the clarion call through a study that says America’s future will be undermined by the children of immigrants, that they will destroy an economy which is already pretty sick and wounded.

The Free Trade Betrayal

Pat Buchanan exposes "Free Trade" agreements for what they are - one-sided deals for politically connected big business that enrich the few and impoverish the majority. It happened with NAFTA, says Pat, and now it's happening with the Korean Free Trade agreement - just as the critics warned it would.

What should we demand from our trade policies? Pat puts it directly and simply: "Instead of a trade policy crafted for the benefit of multinationalist corporations, we need a new trade policy that puts America and Americans first."

Of course, the internationalists of the left whoop with glee at the prospect of Americans being reduced to a Third-World standard of living. For them, equality is what it's all about. No wonder Karl Marx supported Free Trade:

But, in general, the protective system of our day is conservative, while the free trade system is destructive. It breaks up old nationalities and pushes the antagonism of the proletariat and the bourgeoisie to the extreme point. In a word, the free trade system hastens the social revolution. It is in this revolutionary sense alone, gentlemen, that I vote in favor of free trade.
Karl Marx, "On the Question of Free Trade" - January 9, 1848

But putting "America First," as Pat counsels above, is portrayed by the ruling elite and its mouthpieces as "racist." The Southern Poverty Law Center explicitly links opposition to "Free Trade" with "extremism": "NAFTA and other international economic pacts are deeply resented by radical rightists, among others, who see them as evidence of the growing power of a global elite, or 'New World Order'."

The globalist enforcers smear our desire to protect our jobs as "xenophobic." After all, enlightened people know it's wrong to care more about Americans than foreigners.

Meanwhile, the ultra rich shovel in the dough - and their mouthpieces get their cut.

The Immigration Ploy

Thomas Sowell accuses Obama of shameless pandering in the pursuit of votes. Obama's mini-amnesty was not enacted to benefit Americans, nor even illegal immigrants, but to win re-election.

Compared to other national politicians, that makes Obama about average. Power is what motivates all of them.

Here's what too many have forgotten:

Not only is border control fundamental, what is also fundamental is the principle that immigration policy does not exist to accommodate foreigners but to protect Americans – and the American culture that has made this the world's richest, freest and most powerful nation for more than a century.

No nation can absorb unlimited numbers of people from another culture without jeopardizing its own culture.

But to agree with Sowell, Americans must first:

1) think long-term

2) understand the vital role of culture in the development of individuals

3) not worry about being called a white supremacist neo-Nazi racist

However, I'm afraid Americans aren't capable of these things any more.

Well, at least this open borders position makes sense, because if there's one thing this country doesn't have enough of, it's lawyers.

And you thought those illegals were coming here just to pick tomatoes and mow lawns.

Congress apologizes for exercising sovereignty

Unable to accomplish anything else, Congress has issued an apology for American attempts to restrict immigration back in the 19th century:

The United States has apologized to African-Americans, Japanese, Native Americans and Hawaiians for wrongs in the name of government. Now it has made that rare apology to Chinese-Americans for discriminatory laws adopted 130 years ago.

The House of Representatives passed a resolution Monday expressing regret for the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act, which imposed severe restrictions on Chinese immigration and naturalization ...

Wait ... we're apologizing for exercising sovereignty over our own soil? What's next? Should we send reparations to the Eskimo for not including one of their members as one of the Founding Fathers?

And what about China's own immigration controls? has this blunt and direct summary about immigration to China:

China is not an immigrant country. No law or regulations are set permitting immigration. A foreigner is only allowed to reside here for reasons of work, study, travel, or marriage over a certain period of time.

Sounds like the Chinese want China to remain Chinese. And there's nothing wrong with that - preserving your traditional culture is what sovereignty is all about.

Mexican president thanks Obama for amnesty plan

Mexican President Felipe Calderón called Obama's decision "an unprecedented action."

It is indeed. Once again, an American president has taken the side of a foreign nation against Americans. He's already joined Mexico and other Latino nations in a lawsuit against Georgia.

Just shows how alien the ruling elite in DC really is.

"The Party of Lincoln" Looked the Other Way While 1 Million Black Americans Died

At the Hampton Roads peace conference, Alexander Stephens asked The Great Emancipator Lincoln how the slaves would live if suddenly freed, with no preparation for a radically new life. Lincoln casually answered, "Root, hog, or die."

In Sick from Freedom, a study of the years after Emancipation, historian Jim Downs reveals that many slaves, lacking education or property, did die:

... as many as 1 million of the freed slaves died from cholera or smallpox while the federal government, controlled by The Party of Lincoln for half a century after the war, did essentially nothing at all about it. Thousands of ex slaves returned to work on the plantations where they were previously enslaved because the alternative was starvation and death from disease.

But Lincoln must still be worshiped. Like the liberals of today, it's not the actual effects of their policies that matter, but the noble intentions.

U.S. Backed Syrian Rebels Killing Christians

Not only has the Iraq War been a disaster for Christians there, but they are now threatened throughout the Middle East. Now the wave of persecution has swept into Syria:

The United States federal government, seated in Washington D.C., is backing Syrian rebels who are systematically executing (murdering) Christians in the streets, in their homes, and in their churches. They are killing priests and nuns, women and children, and all funded with American tax dollars. That's right America, the money we paid Uncle Sam last April is blood money. A portion of it is being used to help radical Muslims kill Christians. How does that make you feel?

Kevin Levin Ain't the Voice of God

Great response to Kevin Levin from Connie Ward:

Just because the SCV's defense of the flag is the only thing Kevin Levin pays attention to does not meant that's the only thing the SCV cares about or works on. Sheesh.

You'll definitely want to read the whole thing. We need more sass like this!

Quote of the day

"Blessed are the young for they shall inherit the national debt." Herbert Hoover

Why the Battle flag had to come down

A federal judge has ruled against the Sons of Confederate Veterans in their attempt to fly the Battle flag in Lexington, Virginia. Of course, that has Kevin Levin at Civil War Memory clucking with glee. The Battle flag shouldn't fly in public, says Levin, because "nothing the SCV or anyone else says or does can change the flag’s symbolic connection to a history of violence and racism."

As opposed to the DC Empire's flag?

Let's not forget the Empire's genocide against the American Indians, or its murder of over one million Filipinos resisting American occupation, or the half-million Iraqis who died as a result of US sanctions.

The purpose of Levin's propaganda against the South is to demonize resistance to the central government. Levin is just another apologist of Empire who defends it by selling its self-serving version of history. Glory, glory, hallelujah, and all that stuff.

That's why we refer to Levin as a "court historian."

Time to take a stand!

Use this form to contact your representatives and express your OUTRAGE at Obama's illegal and treasonous Executive Order to effectively pass the DREAM Act.

Why do we need a Congress if the Temporary Dictator can make immigration laws? Or nullify them? This is amazing.

The Coming Breakup

Maybe a better name for this post is "The Coming Liberation." Whatever you want to call it, it's coming. No, we're not psychic, just students of history. All Empires overreach and collapse.

Here's Vox Day's take on the imminent breakup of the European Union, and the coming breakup of the American Union:

With the end of the perceived prosperity, the centrifugal force bringing people together has also ended and now the political inertia is moving in the opposite direction. Given the negative economic prospects for the next decade or two, it will be much more surprising if the various political unions do not break apart as the people brought into the various countries, drawn by the economic prosperity, will tend to become the focus of the divisive forces that will break apart the states on their various fault lines.

You'll want to read the whole thing. (BTW, Vox Day should be on your daily blog route.)

Obama administration will stop deporting younger illegal immigrants

As if in answer to my earlier post, Obama has issued a sweeping amnesty to illegal aliens.

If Obama can do this by Executive Order, what can he NOT do?

This is just more bad news for the 7 in 10 American teens who can't find a job this summer.

I'm so old, I can remember when the American government actually protected Americans.

Dream Act activists want deportations stopped

We got rid of the Occupy Charlotte gang, but now we're seeing an even more persistent group of demonstrators taking aim at the Queen City. While the Occupy movement agitated for relief for foreclosed homeowners and limits on corporate power, these new protesters demand what they see as a basic human right: The right to be rewarded for breaking in front of the line:

College and high school students protested outside a campaign office for President Barack Obama Thursday, demanding that he stop the deportation of undocumented youth. ...

The activists waved signs with messages like “Executive Order Now” and chanted “Undocumented, Unafraid.” The group formed during the summer of 2010 during a 13-day hunger strike in Raleigh to draw attention to the Dream Act.

These protesters know overwhelming public support for border security laws such as Arizona's makes it unlikely they're going to get what they want by working peacefully and legally through the political process. So they're demanding that Obama issue an Executive Order to give them what they want - or else:

The National Immigrant Youth Alliance, or NIYA, the umbrella group for organizations like the N.C. Dream Team, has urged its network to “carry out acts of civil disobedience in Democratic campaign offices across the country from now until the November elections.” ...

“Activists will take actions at additional offices today and will continue to do so until the president issues an executive order to stop DREAMer deportations,” according to a statement posted on their website Thursday.

Sounds like a threat, doesn't it? But what else can we expect of people who've already demonstrated their disdain for the rule of law?

Proponents of amnesty and floodtide immigration mouth slogans about the wonderful things Latinos bring to us, from new foods to "vibrancy," whatever that means. But one thing they are definitely bringing with them is the corruption of banana republic politics. Will Obama be the caudillo strong man who cuts through the Gordian knot of legal technicalities so he can deliver the goods to his supporters? Or will he wait until after the election?

On the bright side, it will be entertaining to see the Democrats under siege.

Pentagon to salute gay troops

From the Washington Times:

Officials said Thursday that they’re planning the first-ever event to recognize gay and lesbian troops. They declined to give details about what the event will be, but officials said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta feels it’s important to recognize the service of gays in the armed forces.

June is gay pride month in the U.S. This is the first time the Pentagon could participate, since September’s repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell."

My, how things change. "Don't ask, don't tell" has been replaced by "Don't question, don't dissent."

"The right to preemptive strike"

When you are soooo good that you have a monopoly on morality, anyone who meets your disapproval deserves a good beating.

No, I'm not talking about the Neocons, but their domestic twins, the "antifa." Both groups worship violence as a tool for reconstructing the world. Both also support totalitarian government as a means of creating and wielding unlimited power to control others. And both invoke the all-holy principle of universal rights and equality to justify their actions. They only argue about the immediate target: Do we bomb Iran or Alabama?

The leftist thugs who attacked a meeting of peaceful diners at a Chicago-area restaurant last month clearly conspired to terrorize and hurt innocent people. Here's how one local report described the attack:

A horde of masked figures stormed the restaurant in a single-file line, wielding bats, claw hammers and metal batons — their presence announced when one shouted, “‘Hey, bitches, the ARA is going to f--- up this place.’ ”

With that, the shrouded thugs went on a rampage, clubbing diners at The Ashford House restaurant on May 19 in Tinley Park. They did not discriminate as to the targets of their violence, even pushing an 80-year-old woman to the ground, according to an eyewitness who’s a former Chicago police officer.

Ten people were injured, some with head wounds.

Rather than feel shame for their cowardly attack on elderly people, the leftists and their supporters are proud of their actions. On their own web site, Anti-Racist Action proclaims the right to launch a "preemptive strike" against any who disagree with them (and the communist Worker's World agrees). After all, their victims were guilty of crimethink. Totalitarians cannot tolerate independent thought, and overt dissent must be eradicated.

Of course, these people are driven not by idealism, but by self-aggrandizement and power.

ACLU sues over same-sex adoption ban

Since North Carolinians are just too stupid to endorse the homosexual agenda, the bully-boys of tolerance have no choice but to force it on us - for our own good:

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday morning challenging North Carolina’s law that effectively prohibits same-sex couples from adopting children.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of six gay or lesbian couples from different parts of North Carolina who have one or more children each. It claims the state law violates the constitutional rights of children.

State law prevents unmarried couples from petitioning for adoption, and same-sex marriage has been outlawed in North Carolina for some time. In May, voters approved elevating the same-sex marriage ban as a constitutional amendment.

Yes, the ACLU is going to bulldoze tradition and law "for the children" - as if society couldn't figure out how to raise children over the past several thousand years.

What this country needs ...

... is a little more genocide of brown people.

That's the message of this latest effort by professional warmonger Bill Kristol to launch yet another war of aggression in the Middle East - this time against Iran.

Other war-crazed psychopaths smokin' some of that Kristol meth is Gary Bauer (who ironically claims to be "pro-life") and serial liar Elliott Abrams.

By their fruits ye shall know them.

Obama Is Losing A Stunning Amount Of African-American Support In North Carolina

A poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic-leaning polling firm, reveals that 20% of the blacks in North Carolina would vote for Mitt Romney if the election were held today.

Doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but that means only 76% of blacks now support Obama, as opposed to the 95% support he enjoyed in 2008.

That's huuuuuge!!! And disastrous for what was a swing state in 2008, when Obama was riding a wave.

Obama blew it when he announced his "change of heart" over same-sex marriage. Black churches are adamantly opposed to the homosexual agenda.

These poll results are also disturbing news. If Romney wins, we're in for another war, most likely with Iran. When that happens, brace yourself for even more reprisals from enraged Muslims. We might not be as lucky as in the past, when most of these attacks were stopped. (Not all were: Remember 9/11, the Fort Hood massacre, and the recruiting center murder in Little Rock?)

And that's the good news. To beef up his sinking popularity, Obama might launch a war, put the country on a war footing, take over key industries, and warn Americans not to change horses in the middle of the stream.

It worked for his role model.

NASCAR's Slow Ride to Nowhere

The thrill is gone, and the numbers prove it.

After two decades of phenomenal growth, NASCAR’s popularity has hit the wall. Last March, Jeff Gordon couldn’t believe the rows of empty seats he saw at Bristol Motor Speedway. Where were the cheering fans who normally packed the stands and infield?

Attendance is down at NASCAR races, and no one seems to know why. Even the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte is languishing. Though marketing analysts predicted 800,000 paying visitors would pass through the museum’s doors in 2011, only 272,000 showed up, resulting in an operating loss of $1.4 million. Fresh marketing experts were enlisted, who soon promised higher attendance for the Hall of Fame’s second year. Instead, the number of visitors dropped another 30 percent.

So what happened? Like many other relationships, the one between NASCAR and its fans dimmed because both parties have changed, making the old love affair impossible to carry on.

First of all, you know a relationship is in trouble when one of the parties says it wants to see other people. That’s exactly what NASCAR has told its Southern fanbase.

NASCAR used to be an all-Southern event. At every race, hundreds would wave the battle flag. The Rebel 500 at Darlington, South Carolina, opened on Confederate Memorial Day. Its opening parade featured a Confederate soldier waving a battle flag.

But that was then. Around 2003, NASCAR decided it had to reach out to minorities. A year later, its officials announced they would “change the ‘face’ of the sport” and launched what they called their “Drive for Diversity” program to attract women and minorities. Nothing wrong with that. But perhaps – just perhaps – their approach was flawed. NASCAR officials and drivers seemed to think the sport couldn’t attract Latinos and blacks unless it first drove off its traditional base. In 2006, NASCAR President Mike Helton announced, “the old Southeastern redneck heritage that we had is no longer in existence." And referring to the battle flag that was once welcomed, even expected, at NASCAR events, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. said, “Anybody who is trying to show that flag is probably too ignorant to know what the hell he's doing."

Yep – the love was gone.

And NASCAR itself has changed. Where once outlaws and daredevils such as Dale Earnhardt Sr. and “Fireball” Roberts flirted with death at 200 mph, today’s stars are too busy babying expensive equipment and fretting about their point standings to take the risks that made NASCAR thrilling.

But the real cause of NASCAR’s woes, the one that condemns the sport to a slow death, is that we, the fans, have changed. We aren’t the “car people” we used to be.

There’s a black-and-white picture on my desk of my father and mother posing beside a new 1953 Pontiac on Daytona Beach. On their honeymoon, I was astounded to learn, they drove that car on the beach – at 85 mph! (My parents?) Six years later, the Daytona International Speedway would replace the beach track. To my father’s generation, and to a large extent, mine as well, cars represented freedom and status and endless possibilities.

From about the time I was in the seventh grade, whenever we kids heard a friend’s father had bought a new car, we’d have to know the car’s vitals: How many horses under the hood? How fast can it go?

These days, people judge a car by its fuel efficiency and number of iPhone adapters.

Cars simply are not the prized possessions they once were. Love of cars and what they stood for – yes, it was love – brought folks together at the racetrack. The chariots of yore are now viewed as unavoidable overhead.

“Made in the World”

From the One-Worlders at the World Trade Organization:

Today, companies divide their operations across the world, from the design of the product and manufacturing of components to assembly and marketing, creating international production chains. More and more products are “Made in the World” rather than “Made in the UK” or “Made in France”. The statistical bias created by attributing the full commercial value to the last country of origin can pervert the political debate on the origin of the imbalances and lead to misguided, and hence counter-productive, decisions.

Can you think of a more useless label than "Made in the World"? It's almost as bad as "liberal Democrat" or "pro-war Republican."

The message we're supposed to absorb and adopt is that it's wrong to prefer products made in one's own country. Economic nationalism is just as eeeeevil as nationalism itself. So wanting goods that are the products of your own country is as wrong as wanting your neighbors to be "Made in the USA."

We're all globalists now.

Opposition to Obama = Racism

Vendor at Texas GOP convention has regrets about his sales of "Secede" bumper stickers

Some of the items Michael Franks sold at the recent Texas Republican Convention were manufactured in China or Central America. However, one hot-selling item was made here, and he's having second thoughts about it:

But his bumper stickers, including those declaring "Secede" over a Texas flag and parodies of Barack Obama slogans ("NOPE"), are American-made. He regretted selling the "Secede" stickers for just a buck: "I could have gotten $5 here easily."

The news is out: The South Was Right!

It's not just our little secret any more.

For years, the League of the South and its supporters have warned that the greatest threat to our security and freedom is the federal government. Not goat herders in Afghanistan, not Iraqis resisting foreign occupation, but an unconstrained central government in DC. The problem, we insisted, was that the Founders' limitations on the power of the federal government had been nullified by Lincoln's Counter-Revolution, and that the only - the ONLY - solution was to restore State sovereignty. Centralized government is the single greatest threat to its citizens' lives and liberty, as history has repeatedly reminded us.

Slowly - excruciatingly so at times - our message has entered and helped re-define the mainstream. Where once the domesticated left and right defended big government as the guardian of domestic and national security, today we're increasingly seeing both liberals and conservatives reflecting our views. Liberals now warn that Executive Power is out of control, and must be reined in. Conservatives who once demanded absolute obedience to "our" commander-in-chief now warn that Ron Paul is right to advocate stripping the power of the president to launch wars and imprison American citizens at will.

Most gratifying is the renewed support for the core principle of the Declaration of Independence - the right to secede, which has grown by 10% in the last two years. We see that right as fundamental to liberty.

Basic to the League's message is the true history of the American Revolution and War For Southern Independence. The only way activists can challenge the federal Leviathan is to first realize it is illegitimate, and that its claim to absolute power as a means to protect and advance "democracy" at home and abroad is a lie.

Here's a powerful example of how the Southern view is shaping opposition to DC's war on civil liberties. The latest essay by's Justin Raimondo, entitled America is a Battlefield (In the war against tyranny), argues that we must understand the history of the War Between the States if we are to stop the federal Leviathan.

In a remarkable paragraph that could have been written by Michael Hill or Clyde Wilson, Raimondo rails against the historical ignorance that allows our handlers in DC to justify their illegal power grabs:

The average American’s ignorance of basic history is so scant that they don’t realize there is ample precedent. If you ask them what they know about the Alien and Sedition Acts, you’re apt to get a blank look. As for Abraham Lincoln shutting down newspapers and imprisoning his political opponents – bringing up such inconvenient facts is heresy as far as the Lincoln cult is concerned. We aren’t supposed to talk about it, or, if we do, we’re only allowed to say something vague about how it was necessary to free the slaves.

The message is one any Southern activist would endorse: Lincoln's legacy of an all-powerful central government as an enforcer of freedom is a threat to us all. It is a myth based on warped history that produces not liberty, but death and tyranny.

Southerners can only agree with Raimondo that what he calls "Lincoln’s depredations" during the Civil War were a death-blow to the Founders' vision, and that unless we repudiate Lincoln's legacy, then "The American Revolution stands repealed without a shot being fired."

"Obama has furnished one more example that no matter which party’s presidential candidate wins, the permanent regime stays in place." Sheldon Richman

No matter which party you vote for, you get the same thing: taxpayers are forced to subsidize politically connected big business and perpetual war. Meanwhile, our rights are whittled away. Is it time to try something different? Instead of casting votes that only ratify a tyrannical, murderous agenda of ever-expanding government, it's time to reclaim delegated power from DC and restore self-government. It's time to secede.

Latinos: Obama has our back

"Latinos are a force that can and will help decide this election. We have jobs, education, immigration - President Obama is on our side on all of these issues."

Nothing divisive about that.

Where Is the Outrage?

Both the Tea Party and Occupy protests reveal deep-seated unrest in the Empire. The people are fed up with the government, and dissatisfaction is rising.

What to do? If you're in the ruling elite, there's only one thing to do: send in the drones and monitor the troublemakers. But, as Andrew Napolitano reminds us, such a blatant act of domestic aggression would never have been tolerated by America's Founders. They would have grasped the implications of what such a threat would be to their liberty, something we're too busy with Tweeting and Facebook updates to comprehend. So Judge Napolitano spells it out for us:

The photos that the drones will take may be retained and used or even distributed to others in the government so long as the “recipient is reasonably perceived to have a specific, lawful governmental function” in requiring them. And for the first time since the Civil War, the federal government will deploy military personnel inside the United States and publicly acknowledge that it is deploying them “to collect information about U.S. persons.”

It gets worse. If the military personnel see something of interest from a drone, they may apply to a military judge or “military commander” for permission to conduct a physical search of the private property that intrigues them. And any “incidentally acquired information” can be retained or turned over to local law enforcement. What’s next? Prosecutions before military tribunals in the U.S.?

Of course that's next. Every abuse of government power that the people tolerate invites more such abuse.

Iowa NAACP leader quits over same-sex marriage

The gap between the NAACP's ruling elite and its rank and file continues to grow - to the embarrassment of the left:

A prominent leader in the Iowa/Nebraska branch of the NAACP — the country’s oldest civil rights group — announced today that he is resigning as branch president and a national board member in the wake of the national organization’s decision to endorse marriage between people of the same gender.

The Rev. Keith Ratliff Sr. of the Maple Street Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines issued a statement saying he was stepping down from the NAACP national board and as Iowa/Nebraska state conference president “due to the NAACP’s position and support of same-sex marriage."

It's been decades since the NAACP abandoned its original mission to become just another front for revolution.

American Support For Secession Increases 10% in Just Two Years

Don't look now, but our message is catching on. From CNS News:

Nearly one-quarter of Americans believe that states have the right to secede, according to a recent poll from Rasmussen Reports -- up 10 percentage points in two years.

The latest poll is just one of many that shows that Americans have “serious and growing concern about the federal government,” according to Scott Rasmussen, founder and president of Rasmussen Reports.

There's only one way to react: This is big.

"10 percentage points in two years"? That means ANOTHER 30 million Americans have changed their minds about the right of secession since the last Rasmussen poll.

This sea change in public opinion can't be attributed ONLY to the efforts of organizations such as the League of the South, the Second Vermont Republic, and the Tenth Amendment Center. Nor can it be said to be entirely the work of tireless advocates such as Dr. Michael Hill, Dr. Thomas Woods, or Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo.

No, as much as these worthy groups and individuals have done to spread the word, the real cause of this dramatic change in attitudes toward secession is DC itself. It's the central government that's spending us blind, that's asserting the right to wiretap, imprison, and even assassinate its subjects at will while illegally waging war on innocent civilians abroad. The truth of Robert E. Lee's prediction that a centralized government will be "aggressive abroad and despotic at home" can no longer be denied.

This is not what the American people want. As the CNS report makes clear, only 1 in 5 Americans believe the federal government has the consent of the governed. The same Rasmussen survey reveals that a majority of Americans - 51% - now sees DC as "a danger to liberty."

Rightfully so. As noted political scientist and author Ed Sebesta has observed, "Secession is back as an issue in politics." How long until secession goes from a political issue to a political objective? To quote Robert E. Lee again, "It is history that teaches us to hope."

Calling Border Patrol violates Latinos' "civil rights"

This is insanity posing as standard operating procedure:

A federal department ruled last week that the Forest Service violated a Spanish-speaking woman’s civil rights by calling the Border Patrol to help translate during a routine stop, saying it was “humiliating” to Hispanics and an illicit backdoor way to capture more illegal immigrants.

The ruling by the Agriculture Department’s assistant secretary for civil rights could change policies nationwide as law enforcement agencies grapple with how far they can go in trying to help the Border Patrol while not running afoul of racial
profiling standards.

How long can we continue enduring a central government that's at war with its own population? That ALWAYS sides with foreigners and foreign governments?

Quote of the day

“The road for the advance of industrial capitalism was opened up during the years of the Civil War and the Reconstruction periods; for it was during 1861-1875 that the nation was committed fully to the protective [tariff] system, a national banking structure, homesteads [for immigrant labor], government aid to Pacific railways.... By 1875, virtually, the task was done....” (Louis M. Hacker, The Triumph of American Capitalism [New York, 1940], pp. 383)

But - the mainstream media, Hollywood, and the court historians say the North fought to free the slaves - the ONLY war in history to be fought for noble purposes, rather than for power and money. Something doesn't add up here ...

CBO: Federal debt to double in 15 years

Where is DC taking us? Over a cliff. From the Washington Times:

The federal government is staring at a disastrous fiscal picture with debt approaching 200 percent of GDP within two decades if Congress doesn’t change course on spending and taxes, according to the latest analysis by the Congressional Budget Office released Tuesday.

The CBO said it’s the worst picture since a brief period during World War II when spending ballooned to fund the military campaign.

“In the past few years, the federal government has been recording the largest budget deficits since 1945, both in dollar terms and as a share of the economy. Consequently, the amount of federal debt held by the public has surged,” the CBO report said in a long-term budget outlook that paints a shockingly dark picture of government finances.

I used to ask folks if they were angry enough yet to join the League of the South. Now I ask if they're scared enough.

Everything’s Bigger About Texas

Gail Collins notes the disproportionate influence Texas enjoys over the rest of the country - and, paradoxically, how enthusiasm for independence continues to grow throughout the state. She begins by recalling what Governor Rick Perry said at a Tea Party rally in Austin in 2009:

It was quite a moment. Perry was standing behind a podium with a “Don’t Mess With Texas” banner, wearing jeans, his trademark boots, and looking pretty damned ticked off. “Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may,” he said, quoting the state’s great founding father, Sam Houston. When Houston made that remark, he was definitely attempting to break away from the country to which Texas was then attached.

“We didn’t like oppression then, we don’t like oppression now!” Perry roared to the cheering crowd, some of whom were waving “Secede!” signs. It did sure sound like an Alamo kind of crisis. Their backs were to the wall!

And, important point: This was just a rally about the stimulus package.

It was perhaps the first time the rest of the country had taken notice of the fact that 21st-century Texans did not necessarily consider the idea of breaking away to become a separate nation as, um, nuts.

What's nuts is to expect a bankrupt, self-serving, and corrupt central government in DC to start respecting our rights and stop squandering billions of taxpayer dollars. Almost every day brings more news about DC's jaw-dropping incompetence and arrogance.

Every day the bucket goes down to the well. One day, the bottom will drop out.

Alabama Adopts First Official State Ban on UN Agenda 21

Agenda 21 is a UN plan aimed at "combating poverty" by "changing consumption patterns." In the name of protecting the environment and assisting the poor, it would deprive productive Western nations of sovereignty and property.

Alabama has responded with a forceful and effective countermeasure:

The Alabama Senate Bill (SB) 477 legislation, known unofficially among some supporters as the “Due Process for Property Rights” Act, was approved unanimously by both the state House and Senate. After hesitating for a few days, late last month Republican Governor Robert Bentley finally signed into law the wildly popular measure — but only after heavy pressure from activists forced his hand.

Virtually no mention of the law was made in the establishment press. But analysts said the measure was likely the strongest protection against the UN scheme passed anywhere in America so far. The law, aimed at protecting private property rights, specifically prevents all state agencies and local governments in Alabama from participating in the global scheme in any way.

Resistance to Agenda 21 has come from "Tea Party groups, liberty-minded Democrats, libertarians, and a broad coalition of activists." Politicians can no longer ignore the pressure they're getting from the grass roots. Thanks to these activists, Alabama has taken a stand with Tennessee to halt this usurpation of power and property.

Romney sees big jump in poll

Nooooooo! It can't be true!

This means increased government surveillance, the federal nullification of the Bill of Rights, and a Republican Dream Act - all as part of a "severely conservative" agenda.

Canadian homosexual porn star cannibal who ate his Chinese boy friend arrested on Karl-Marx-Strasse

Janet Napolitano featured at DHS "Gay Pride" ceremony

Don't Ask Don't Tell repealed. The president of the United States comes out for same-sex marriage. A federal court rules California's Proposition 8, which affirmed traditional marriage, is unconstitutional.

Yes, the Homosexual Lobby has scored major wins lately in DC. So it's time for a victory lap - and who better to lead it than Janet Napolitano? From The Blaze:

On June 7, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is holding a gay-themed event called the June Pride Ceremony. The hour-long gathering, scheduled to take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., will feature DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano as a guest speaker, among others. The purpose of the event is to commemorate June Pride Month, while also marking “a year of significant progress for DHS Pride and for the LGBT community.”

The Homosexual agenda depends on a big, centralized government to impose it on an unwilling population. Same-sex marriage has been rejected in every popular referendum - even in California. Little wonder homosexual activists find the totalitarian Department of Homeland Security such a cozy haven.

MS-13 gang leader to serve 50 years for sex trafficking teens in Northern Virginia

A gang member was sentenced Friday to serve 50 years in prison for forcing girls as young as 14 to work as prostitutes in Northern Virginia.

A jury at U.S. District Court in Alexandria in February found 24-year-old Rances Ulices Amaya, also known as “Murder” or “Blue,” guilty of conspiring to commit sex trafficking of a child and three counts of sex trafficking.

According to an affidavit on file in federal court, Amaya, of Springfield, a leader of the criminal street gang Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, prostituted teen girls at hotels throughout northern Virginia, including in Woodbridge, Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church.

This day in history

Jefferson Davis was born in 1808.

A West Point graduate, Davis distinguished himself in the Mexican-American War as a colonel of the Mississippi Rifles volunteer regiment, and was the United States Secretary of War under President Franklin Pierce. Both before and after his time in the Pierce Administration, he served as a United States Senator from Mississippi. As senator he argued against secession but believed each State was sovereign and had an unquestionable and constitutional right to secede from the voluntary Union of the Founders, just as they had seceded from England seeking political liberty. Davis resigned from the Senate in January 1861 after receiving word that his State of Mississippi had voted to leave the voluntary Union.

Davis explained his actions stating:

“[T]o me the sovereignty of the State was paramount to the sovereignty of the Union. And I held my seat in the Senate until Mississippi seceded and called upon me to follow and defend her. Then I sorrowfully resigned the position in which my State had placed me and in which I could no longer represent her, and accepted the new work. I was on my way to Montgomery when I received, much to my regret, the message that I had been elected provisional President of the Confederate States of America.”

Davis was a great and patriotic American who tried to save the old constitutional republic from revolutionaries, and who left the old union with the old constitution intact to form a "more perfect Union" and with the consent of the governed. He contended that he would rather be out of the Union with the Constitution than to be in the Union without the Constitution. Ironically, the Southern States seceded in order to save the Constitution of the Founders. Davis remarked in July 1864:

"I tried in all my power to avert this war. I saw it coming, and for 12 years, I worked night and day to prevent it, but I could not. The North was mad and blind; it would not let us govern ourselves, and so the war came, and now it must go on till the last man of this generation falls in his tracks, and his children seize the musket and fight our battle, unless you acknowledge our right to self-government. We are not fighting for slavery. We are fighting for Independence, and that, or extermination, we will have....Slavery never was an essential element. It was the only means of bringing other conflicting elements to an earlier culmination. It fired the musket which was already capped and loaded. There are essential differences between the North and the South that will, however this war may end, make them two nations."

At the end of the War, when a fellow traveler remarked that the cause of the Confederates was lost. Davis replied: “It appears so. But the principle for which we contended is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form.” In 1881, Davis was critical of the Gilded Age corruption and political ignorance of the United States Constitution and remarked: “Of what value then are paper constitutions and oaths binding officers to their preservation, if there is not intelligence enough in the people to discern the violations; and virtue enough to resist the violators?”

Though charged with treason, President Davis demanded a fair trial in order to argue the constitutionality of the South’s actions in 1860-1861. This was denied by his revolutionary tormenters, and the reason was revealed by Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court, Salmon P. Chase, in 1867. Chase admitted that:

"If you bring these leaders to trial, it will condemn the North, for by the Constitution, secession is not a rebellion. His capture was a mistake. His trial will be a greater one. We cannot convict him of treason."
