Let's look at Obama's Executive Order #16
No good can come of this: "Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes." So - in the name of "health care," which is actually an unconstitutional mandate of socialized medicine, DC will use health care providers to spy on citizens. Now THAT'S scary!

Obummer is backing down, not much is happening in his executive order, it is designed to show the psychopathic left that he is "doing something" by having a laundry list of actions that sound nice, but do not do much. Like with Libya, Obama is having this fight forced on him by screeching effeminate Jews. His real plan was budgetary than Amnesty. He wasn't planning to go after guns, and this toothless Executive Order shows that.
It is the legislation that matters. Can the America Right hold a 40 vote Senate filibuster? Can the GOP house kill any anti-gun bill? I think the answer is yes.
All the while we point out that the government doesn't work to both left and right BECAUSE OF THE UNION!
We need to sell Partition to the left: "you could ban guns if we just split America into Red and Blue states!"
Actually, it looks like some of the actual gun *control* will be shunted over to the mouthbreathers at DHS:

If so, it means that neither dems nor repubs have to get their hands dirty with the whole guns rights issue, and it can chewed away piece by piece.
Easy enough to counter: if your doc asks you about your arms, lie. And then maybe find a doctor who won't pop the question.
I agree for now with Afterthought 1/16 2:02 PM: I got the sense that the president more or less wants to "punt" on this issue. He'd like to see Congress pass something or other, but there are clear indications that the Feinstein bill is DOA. It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, emerges.

Physicians asking about evil firearms in the home is nothing new. About 25 years ago I found myself at a medical center completing paperwork as a new patient. One of the questions asked of me was whether or not I had any firearms at home. I didn't resort to profanity, but responded that such information was none of their business and well beyond anything asked of a paying clientele.
It looks like the handwriting is on the wall though. 'Free' medical care will mandate responses to this and similar questions. When kids go in for their inoculations the nice nurses will be sure to ask them if mommy and daddy pack heat or have an old fowling piece hanging over the mantel. If so, expect a visit from the angry misandries who work with the Child Protective Services. East Germany, here we come!

I will make this statement simple. Where are you civil libertarians from the Left? Oh, I know where you are right now. But, do you not see your hypocrisy? Do you see why I can't take any civil libertarian from the American Left seriously? Now, if the doctor asked little Johnny about any abortions Mommy might have had last year/this year, oh no!!!!!!!!!! Call the ACLU! Call Sandra Fluke! Asking about the Bibles in the house? Ok. Asking about the morning after pill in the house? You get the idea. The American Left will NEVER protect your civil liberties except for the alleged right to an abortion (murder of a baby) and to be a moral pervert. You people on the American Left are Barbarians.
