Obama poised to bypass Congress
What to do, what to do? Obama not only has a mandate, but also a really nifty, progressive agenda. Problem is, those stick-in-the-muds in Congress won't pass it. The answer? Leave 'em in the dust:
When President Barack Obama delivers his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, the biggest question he’ll face will be how to get an ambitious second-term agenda through a divided Congress. The answer: Go around it. On climate change, gun control, gay rights, and even immigration, the White House has signaled a willingness to circumvent lawmakers through the use of presidential power. Already, plans are being laid to unleash new executive orders, regulations, signing statements and memorandums designed to push Obama’s programs forward and cement his legacy, according to administration aides and allies. After all, those silly checks and balances were established by men who didn't even believe in democracy. And isn't democracy all about "One man, one vote?" And everyone knows that Obama's the Man!

Does anyone seriously believe that we now live with anything close to a representative government? Really?
Nullification. The new American revolution.
Stick your boot up your state representative's spine, and encourage others to do the same.

Furthermore, is anyone really surprised by any of this?

Congress is an old toothless and blind hound sound asleep on a shady porch. The executive branch issues edicts posing as law, the courts uphold and expand upon them, and Congress occasionally stirs itself to rubber stamp them. When it's not busy not passing a budget, that is...
Checks and balances my ***!
