Homeland Security has advice for confronting mass murders: scissors

Those cynics who claim the Department of Homeland Security is more concerned with expanding government power than with the safety of Americans need to read this handy advice about what to do if a madman attacks your workplace. Step one: Cower. Here's how:

“To protect your hiding place, lock the door if you can. Block the door with heavy furniture,” recommends the male narrator, speaking in measured, authoritative tones.

Other survival strategies promoted in the video include hiding “behind large items such as cabinets or desks. Remain quiet. Silence your cellphone or pager. Even the vibration setting can give away a hiding position.”
That's great advice. However, my new cell phone and I do not get along very well. Even when I'm not being fired at by a lunatic with a gun, I have difficulty figuring out how to set my phone to vibrate. No matter what I push, I get the message "You have selected AT&T's Premium Text Messaging Service. A charge of $6,000.29 will appear on your next bill." So I can just imagine myself fumbling with my cell phone while Omar Thornton is stalking the cubicles searching for co-workers to aerate.

The DHS video even provides this tip on how to take a stand against your murderer:

“If you are caught out in the open and cannot conceal yourself or take cover, you might consider trying to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available,” says the narrator in the video, which shows an office worker pulling scissors out of a desk drawer.
Because, obviously, no one would have something as icky and scary as a handgun at work. So behold the weapon of choice of Metrosexual America:

But then, it's just a matter of time until liberals and Neocons start demanding scissor registration. Me, I'm stocking up on these babies. Let Diane Feinstein try and stop me. Molon labe!

Quote of the day

"If we don't stop their entry, the problem that currently stands at 60,000 could grow to 600,000, and that threatens our existence as a Jewish and democratic state. This phenomenon is very grave and threatens the social fabric of society, our national security and our national identity." Binyamin Netanyahu, on African immigrants in Israel.

Libertarian or Conservative?

Vox Day calls himself a libertarian. And he objects to being called a conservative.

I agree with 99% of Vox Day's opinions, which is why I check him out daily.

But he is wrong on this issue.

Mr. Day is a conservative. Conservatism is an acknowledgement of man's actual condition. Humans are physical beings with intellectual and spiritual dimensions. Our loyalties belong to our people, our traditions, our communities, our heritage.

Contrast that with the leftists, who denounce and despise bonds arising from the traditional and physical. Our minds make us what we are, claim these ideologues. It is our thinking that defines who and what we are. Thus, re-education is the key to creating paradise on earth.

Egalitarianism, then, is central to leftist ideology. It's all just a matter of correct thinking. Open borders? Check. Women in the military? Check. Same-sex "marriage"? Double-check.

Conservatives take opposing stances on those and many other issues because they see historical wisdom as the accumulated experience of their particular society. Our true natures, thus, have been revealed over many centuries. Conservatives therefore take their heritage as a standard for their own personal development. The physical is as important as the spiritual, so both the body and mind must be developed to make a whole man. (I believe Vox keeps his body as well tuned as his mind.)

Libertarianism, on the other hand, is just another ideology, an artificial way of living cooked up by those who imagine reason - or should I say, "Reason" - is sovereign.

Contrast Vox Day with Roderick Long, who's the Bizarro world image of Vox Day. Long is a "libertarian anarchist" who, like Vox Day, is into sci-fi, philosophy, and blogging. But unlike Day, Long's rigid egalitarianism, atheism, and disdain for traditional loyalties make him the perfect model of a modern libertarian. Unlike conservatives, Long sees individuals as atomized, self-guided, autonomous beings free to do what they want. While conservatives see society as the individual's source of meaning, identity, and guidance, libertarians such as Roderick Long refuse to even acknowledge that society exists. Only the individual is real.

Check out Vox Day's post, and the post that set him off. Tell us what you think who's the conservative, and who's the libertarian.

The American Empire, RIP

Those who dismiss reality, preferring to occupy their own world of perpetual war and grand conquest, just can't let go. They're the ones with fiancial and political connections to the parasitical Pentagon, either as investors or as servants. Taxpayers are supposed to actively or at least passively support this massive fraud, and dump our hard-earned earnings into the bottomless pit of Empire.

But as Justin Raimondo points out, the party's over:

To the rest of us, however – that is, to everyone outside the neocons’ cultic universe – the signs of the Great American Contraction are everywhere, most noticeably in the incomes, productivity, and general economic well-being of ordinary Americans. Our own CIA – never a friend to the neocons, but that’s another story – avers this condition is the single greatest threat to our national security: not Iran, not terrorism, but the very real threat of national bankruptcy. Our national debt is over 100 percent of GDP.
The world's greatest exporter of death and dictatorship is getting a little wobbly - the inevitable fate of empires.

Back to the Articles of Confederation as America's Central Government

Patrick Henry tried to warn us - but we didn't listen:

In hindsight now, 220-plus years later, it is clear that the concerns expressed by the Anti-Federalists were correct. They strongly opposed the central government having more power than the state governments, were concerned about the federal judiciary and rightly feared the presidency could morph into a monarchy.

Actually, the recent presidential election, inauguration and the related entertainment provided proof we have the presidential trappings of monarchy, the centralized power structure of fascism and the immorality of Rome's Caligula. America has come a long way DOWN from the original government established by our founding fathers, The Articles of Confederation.
A few years ago, I would've agreed with this. But the undisguised glee exhibited by those who see the end of the old America makes it clear that reform isn't even an option any more. Only separation can save us now.

Illegal immigration again on the rise

Now why would illegals pour over the border in greater numbers now?

Is it possible they see spineless Republicans ready to betray the nation in pursuit of votes?

Could they be motivated by the prospect of pro-minority set-asides, generous welfare programs, and subsidized health care?

The giant is collapsing, and the jackals are swarming in.

Government Officials Can Still Own Assault Weapons Under Feinstein Bill

So - the government will have a total monopoly on guns, and the subjects citizens will be defenseless.

What could possibly go wrong? It's not like OUR GOVERNMENT has ever abused its power. Besides, only an "extremist" would distrust the government.

There's a superintendent born every minute

Separated at birth?

Heath Morrison, the new Superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, reminds me of Mayhem from the creepy Allstate Insurance commercials. Mayhem inflicts disasters on people who AREN'T Allstate customers.

Morrison, on the other hand, is about to inflict a disaster on the customers of CMS schools. Case in point: Glenn Singleton.

Singleton, you see, is a "diversity consultant." Here's the statement of purpose from Mr. Singleon's company, Pacific Educational Group:

"Working at all levels from the Board and superintendent to beginning teachers, PEG helps the educators focus on heightening their awareness of institutional racism and developing effective strategies for closing the achievement gap in their schools."
Problem is, Mr. Singleton doesn't deliver what he promises. In fact, a recent article in the Charlotte Observer reveals that after Singleton collects his money from a school district, the Black-White achievement gap is as stubborn as ever. In Chapel Hill, for example, after "more than a decade" of Singleton's programs, "The ultimate impact on students remains elusive. African American students there pass state reading and math exams at about the same rate as counterparts in CMS..." Yet, the same article says that Singleton cites the Chapel Hill school system "as one of PEG’s successes."

In every school system Singleton works with, he uses a one-size-fits-all approach. The reason Blacks don't perform as well as Whites, he claims, is purely the fault of Whites: “At Pacific Educational Group we believe systemic racism is the most devastating factor contributing to the diminished capacity of all children, especially black children, to achieve at the highest levels, and contributes to the fracturing of the communities that nurture and support them.”

Little wonder that in district after district, White parents are angered at Singleton for denouncing White teachers as "racist." According to Glenn Singleton, "American society is relentlessly oppressive" for Blacks. "White privilege" explains EVERY problem in the Black community. Every problem.

Unleashing Glenn Singleton on Mecklenburg's already troubled schools would be disruptive, divisive, and counter-productive. How could it be otherwise, when "racism" is defined as a sin that only whites can be guilty of, and is presented as the primary cause of minority shortcomings? That can only generate White guilt and Black resentment. Oh, and a "six-figure fee."

Such an agenda has nothing to do with education, and everything to do with whipping up racial animosity for political and financial gain. Contrary to his advertising, Singleton isn't giving "courageous conversations" about race; he's giving lectures, and only to Whites.

At least Mayhem is honest about his intentions.

The Spirit of Rebellion is spreading

In a poll conducted by Anderson Robbins Research and Shaw & Company Research, a representative sample of registered voters were asked, "If the government passed a law to take your guns, would you give up your guns or defy the law and keep your guns?"

A vast majority, 65%, said they would defy the government. (See page 11.)

That's a government that is quickly losing its legitimacy in the eyes of the people.

Secession: a “sacred right” of the people

Here's a great rebuttal to Obama's breezy dismissal of the various secession petitions. It's from a blogger described as "Another New Yorker gone native."

Welcome to the South, Mr. Smith.

Thanks to Bernie for the link!

Quote of the day

"The meaning of man and wife, the will to perpetuity, is being lost. People live for themselves alone, not for future generations. The nation as society, once the organic web of families, threatens to dissolve, from the city outwards, into a sum of private atoms, of which each is intent on extracting from his own and other lives the maximum of amusement — panem et circenses." Oswald Spengler

Thanks to Ryan for the quote!

Spengler's diagnosis is now impossible to dispute. What he calls "the will to perpetuity" has been shamed out of Western civilization. Decades of cultural Marxist condemnation as "racist," "homophobic," and "xenophobic" have undermined our pride in who we are. Sending women into combat, inviting floodtide immigration from the Third World, and same-sex "marriage" are symptoms of a culture that doesn't believe in itself anymore, and has given up on self-preservation.

And then there's that remnant...

Quote of the day

“I think people have come to the sensible conclusion that you can’t say a woman’s life is more valuable than a man’s life,” retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Wilma Vaught.

Perfectly sensible - except to a reactionary such as myself, who's still bitterly clinging to many un-hip notions, as well as to his guns and religion.

In quoting General Wilma, columnist Gail Collins THINKS she's exposing the irrationality of those who oppose sending women into combat. After all, as EVERYONE KNOWS, equality is what this nation was founded on. By implication, those obstructionists who say women should not be exposed to front-line combat are anti-American.

Here's the bottom line: Some things do not change. Human nature is one of them. The rigors of war are another. The DC Empire may proclaim equality all it wants. But in fact, human equality is a biological impossibility. It's also a social and political catastrophe when government tries to impose it - just take a look at the real-world results of trying to implement it.

In fact, General Wilma is not just wrong, but disastrously so. There's a reason that men have historically gone to war, and that is to protect their future. A nation can lose many of its young men but still recover. However, if it loses its women, it will fade away.

DC thinks it's replaced the old-fashioned "Band of Brothers" with the new and improved "Swarm of Siblings," but has instead landed yet another self-inflicted wound. When the history of the DC Empire is written, its epitaph will be "Death by Ideology." It'll be covered in the same chapter as the Soviet Union, which was a victim of the self-destructive idiocy of communism.

This day in history

In 1972, Japanese soldier Shoichi Yokoi was discovered in Guam, having spent 28 years hiding in the jungle thinking World War II was still going on.

Big deal. There are people in America who still think we live in the land of the free.

News flash: Editorial writers don't know history

But they do looooove leftist projects. Case in point: Yesterday's editorial in the Charlotte Observer, entitled "Our task: Making founders’ values real," justified Obama's big-government agenda with a number of jaw-dropping assertions. Here's one of them: "Obama reminded Americans that the country is not living up to its creed – that all people are created equal – when many millions are deprived of real opportunity because of the circumstances of their birth."

C'mon, fellas! The most cursory reading of Jefferson's life work shows he did NOT believe in equality. Even in the narrow context of the Declaration of Independence, from which that quote about equality is wrenched, it's obvious Jefferson wasn't preaching egalitarianism. He was instead arguing that ALL PEOPLES have the right of self-determination, even to the extreme of a people who once swore loyalty to a government that has become oppressive.

The Founders waged a conservative revolution to win back their traditional rights, not to cook up new ones. One of the transgressions Jefferson listed against George III in his "long train of abuses" was that the British monarch had abolished "the free System of English Laws" in the colonies. Lord Dunmore, the royal governor of Virginia, organized an "Ethipian Regiment" of former slaves who swore loyalty to the crown, which Jefferson denounced as exciting "domestic insurrections amongst us." And the Declaration's accusation that the British had "endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages," does not suggest the Founders envisioned a multicultural nation, but instead a nation founded on their European heritage.

The Observer editorial then drops this whopper to argue for the use of force to enact Obama's agenda: "After all, the founders established a strong central government responsive to the consent of the governed..."

Let's vet the first assertion about a "strong central government." The first pact among the 13 sovereign states was the Articles of Confederation, which lasted from 1776 to 1789. The Articles asserted the sovereignty of each state, except for the specific powers delegated to the confederation. The Constitution that replaced the Articles retained the principle of States' Rights in the 10th Amendment. James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, observed, "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite."

Finally, the Founders DID NOT create a democracy. The institution of the Electoral College, which put the election of the central government's chief executive under the control of the sovereign State governments, reveals how much the Founders distrusted popular government.

To paraphrase Daniel Moynihan, the Observer is entitled to its own opinions, but not to its own American history.

China warns Australia not to side with US

Holy cow, it's 1914 all over again:

A CHINESE military officer has raised the spectre of nuclear weapons and warned Australia not to side with the United States and Japan as a territorial dispute in the East China Sea continues to escalate.

Senior Colonel Liu Mingfu, of the National Defence University, blamed America's "orchestration" and Japan's "militarism" for rising tensions over disputed islands known as the Senkaku in Japan and the Diaoyu in China.

"America is the global tiger and Japan is Asia's wolf and both are now madly biting China," Colonel Liu said. "Of all the animals, Chinese people hate the wolf the most."
Why all the saber-rattling? China is simply telling the US to back off from its announced intention to boost its power in Asia. Obama's commitment to establish an increased military presense in the Asia-Pacific region is a direct challenge to China - a challenge the US can no longer afford.

It's just one more sign of buckling caused by DC's imperial overstretch. DC's dreams of global domination are in the process of crashing and burning.

Missouri Sheriffs Pledge To Not Enforce Obama’s Gun Control Laws

The Rebellion is spreading:

As President Barack Obama continues to push gun control proposals in Washington D.C., Sheriff Charles M. Heiss, R-Johnson County is asking fellow law enforcers to sign and send this letter to the president.

The letter expresses concern with the Obama administration and the president’s gun control laws he laid out before Congress last week.

In the letter Heiss tells the president that he has a duty to protect his constituents from incidents of crime, and has the responsibility to protect and preserve their rights and liberties.

Newly elected Sheriff Michael Dixon, R-Osage County is one of about a dozen sheriffs in Missouri to have signed and sent Heiss’ letter.

“On the same day the President is taking his oath to uphold the Constitution, he continues to attack our 2nd Amendment rights,” Dixon said. “As Osage County Sheriff, I also took an Oath to the Constitution; but unlike Obama, I intend to uphold mine.”
Missouri, eh? I wonder if our friend Earl is behind this?

Prince Sicko

Nothing's quite as entertaining as zapping impoverished people resisting invaders:

After frolicking naked with a nude nubile in Las Vegas, Captain Harry Wales was sent to Afghanistan to co-pilot an Apache attack helicopter and fight the CIA-created opposition, the Taliban.

The dashing young grandson of the aging monarch Queen Elizabeth and the second son of heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles has since compared killing Afghan insurgents to playing video games.

Taking out officially designated enemies with Hellfire missiles is a “joy for me because I’m one of those people who loves playing PlayStation and Xbox,” Harry told the BBC. “So with my thumbs I like to think I’m probably quite useful.”
The only thing that could be even more fun would be strafing civilians with a remote drone. After all, when you're in an Apache, you are at least exposed to enemy fire. What's the fun in THAT?

Thanks to Earl for the head's up!

Quote of the day

"When a nation goes down, or a society perishes, one condition may always be found; they forgot where they came from." Carl Sandburg

This day in history

In 1906, Robert E. Howard was born. This native Texan became the king of pulp fiction, creating such memorable characters as Conan and Solomon Kane.

One of the real-life colorful characters who inspired the young writer was his grandfather, a Confederate veteran who literally "rode with Forrest":

Howard had a profound admiration for his grandfather’s exploits, a Confederate veteran, a man who “rode for four years with Bedford Forrest,” “was accounted the strongest man in his regiment and one of the strongest men in Forrest’s command. He could cleave a man from shoulder to waist with a single stroke of his saber,” [he] “loaned money, dealt some in cattle; he bought a sheep ranch, but, in the midst of a cattle country, with hired men running it, it was not a success. He wandered over into western New Mexico and worked a silver mine not far from the Arizona line” where “chief old Geronimo once stole a bunch of [his] horses.”
Howard also drew inspiration from his own Anglo-Celtic heritage. Tales of Celtic warfare fired his imagination, and certainly planted the seeds of the future exploits of Conan. In a letter to fellow author H.P. Lovecraft, Howard wrote:

Books dealing on Scottish history were easier for me to obtain than those dealing with Irish history, so in my childhood I knew infinitely more about Scottish history and legendry than Irish. I had a distinct Scottish patriotism, and liked nothing better than reading about the Scotch and English wars. I enacted these wars in my games and galloped full tilt through the mesquite on a bare-backed racing mare, hewing right and left with a Mexican machete and slicing off cactus pears which I pretended were the heads of English knights.
Howard's Conan stories portray its hero as an honest, fierce, manly, and incorruptible barbarian who cannot comprehend the soft, cynical, self-doubting, and decadent city dwellers he often has to rescue.

Not a bad example for the modern Southerner. Here's one excellent site, appropriately named Conan The Cimmerian, that celebrates Howard's pro-Southern legacy.

Burn the Constitution!

An openly Marxist magazine calls for scuttling the Constitution. Marxists know their projects require the heavy hand of omnipotent government if they're ever to be implemented. And the whole point of the Constitution (and further reinforced by the Bill of Rights) was to LIMIT the power of the central government.

We are entering the Era of Interesting Times.

What do gun control laws actually control?

Thomas Sowell points out how many gun control activists simply don't know what they're talking about:

There are people who have never fired a shot in their life who do not hesitate to declare how many bullets should be the limit to put into a firearm's clip or magazine. Some say ten bullets but New York state's recent gun control law specifies seven.

Virtually all gun control advocates say that 30 bullets in a magazine is far too many for self-defense or hunting — even if they have never gone hunting and never had to defend themselves with a gun. This uninformed and self-righteous dogmatism is what makes the gun control debate so futile and so polarizing.

Anyone who faces three home invaders, jeopardizing himself or his family, might find 30 bullets barely adequate. After all, not every bullet hits, even at close range, and not every hit incapacitates. You can get killed by a wounded man.
In fact, Sowell argues, gun control laws (like so many government programs) often create the opposite of what they were intended to do:

Most factual studies show no reduction in gun crimes, including murder, under gun control laws. A significant number of studies show higher rates of murder and other gun crimes under gun control laws.

How can this be? It seems obvious to some gun control zealots that, if no one had guns, there would be fewer armed robberies and fewer people shot to death.

But nothing is easier than to disarm peaceful, law-abiding people. And nothing is harder than to disarm people who are neither — especially in a country with hundreds of millions of guns already out there, that are not going to rust away for centuries.

When it was legal to buy a shotgun in London in the middle of the 20th century, there were very few armed robberies there. But, after British gun control zealots managed over the years to disarm virtually the entire law-abiding population, armed robberies became literally a hundred times more common. And murder rates rose.
The bottom line is that gun control makes the population more dependent on the government for protection. And by disarming the law-abiding, gun conrol laws create the nightmarish state that Sam Francis called "anarcho-tyranny." In both cases, the government boosts its power.

Stonewall Jackson's birthday

Excerpt from January 2012 Lee-Jackson Day Observance, Kinston, North Carolina, address by Bernhard Thuersam, North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission Chairman:

“I want to quote from John Esten Cooke’s Military Biography of Jackson in 1876 – he wrote of Jackson’s death:

“Apprised that his final moment was approaching, he sent kind messages to all his friends, the Generals and others; taking thus his leave of earth, and sending his…farewells. He who had passed through a thousand scenes of carnage, expired upon his bed, surrounded by weeping friends, who were taught by that….spectacle [of] how a Christian soldier can die.”

Jackson was a born leader, and had that supreme spirit of combativeness, the very foundation of military success. But combativeness and military ardor do not make a commander – enterprise is essential, and this was the secret of Jackson’s astonishing success. His rule was never to allow an enemy to rest, attack whenever possible, and press on until all opposition was broken down and the day gained.

He always preferred to arrive, by forced marches, in the face of an unprepared enemy. A sluggish or unwary adversary was doomed already – when he least expected it, Jackson was before him, attacking with all the advantages of surprise. He aimed to succeed rather by sweat than blood. Douglas McArthur’s Inchon landing in Korea was pure Stonewall Jackson.

Jackson’s military movements were always based upon close calculation, and he was certainly not wanting in foresight and caution. He seemed to have known what was in his power to achieve, and as thoroughly what was beyond his strength. He generally kept open his lines of retreat and provided for potential disaster.

It may be said of him with truth, that he deserved victory. No man was more careful in the use of every precaution to ensure success, and no soldier was ever less indebted to sheer luck. No general ever made a greater use of mystery. He would not permit his men to enquire about the names of towns through which they passed – he directed his troops to answer questions about destinations with “I don’t know.”

Until all his arrangements were made, no adversary could draw him into action. When the final moment came, he attacked with all his strength – if one assault failed, he made a second. If this failed, he sent in the reserve, if this didn’t retrieve fortune, he placed himself in front of his troops to conquer or die. His battle cry was “give them the bayonet!”

Napoleon trusted his star, and Jackson it is rightly said, believed in his destiny -- and the Lord of Hosts – for his ability to gain success against his enemies. There were no half measures with him, he always favored decisive blows to his enemy. Limited wars such as Korea and Vietnam would not have interested him.

He was the only Southern general in favor of attacking the Northern invader at Fredericksburg; at night and to drive him relentlessly into the river. At Port Republic he said “if the President will give me 60,000 men, I will be in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in two weeks.” One certainly saw much of Stonewall Jackson in another Southern general -- George S. Patton.

But Jackson was not a hard man. On the field he was absorbed with his task – but his bearing, his smile and the ready hand to his cap, were always courteous, and never seemed to lose the simple and modest air of kindly good Christian breeding.

Had the war closed with Southern military success and his life intact, it is not likely he would have been a man of politics. It is certain he would have been a dominant man, and if dragged into the presidency would have administered government in accordance with his views of Christian right-thinking.

As a man, his virtues were recognized even by his opponents. Humble before his Maker, gentle in daily life, a sincere politeness to every human being, steadfast in purpose, and when fully aroused, as in the crisis of battle, he was sublime in the fire of his spirit.

As we all know here, his religion was his life. It was the broad foundation of all his thoughts and words and deeds. He seemed to live, consciously, under the very eye of God, and shaped all his actions with reference to Divine approval. The question was always: “Am I conforming my life to the will of God.”

No stain of insincerity, meanness, or vanity ever marred his character, the character which combines the loftiest virtues of the gentleman, the soldier, and the Christian. He sleeps now, cold to praise and blame – and an example to us all.”

Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman, North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission.

Martin Luther King, Conservative Icon?

Well, why not? In an age where submitting to government-sponsored demographic revolution and citizen surveillance are touted as "conservative," a man who cheated on his wife, plagiarized other writers, and conspired with communists can be deemed as "conservative" as anyone else:

As the nation celebrates King's national holiday Monday, a new battle has erupted over his legacy. Some conservatives are saying it's time for them to reclaim the legacy of King, whose message of self-help, patriotism and a colorblind America, they say, was "fundamentally conservative."
It's all part of the regime's efforts to convince would-be dissidents to adopt the regime's beliefs. Clever, no?

Bernie's Southern History

Michael (Martin Luther) King Defined:

A black community activist and admitted socialist, associated with many American communists.

To gain the support of liberal whites in the early years of his career, King made a few mild denunciations of communism but admired and emulated the communist use of labor union organization to acquire power. After training at facilities like the infamous Highlander Folk School in Tennessee, King frequently spoke before communist front groups such as the National Lawyers Guild and Lawyers for Democratic Action. He further attended seminars at Highlander which taught communist subversion tactics such as the mass public demonstrations which he later employed.

Though King was apparently not a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and had mildly criticized the Soviet Union, he had knowingly surrounded himself with communists. His closest advisor, Stanley Levison (King was photographed with Levison at Highlander in 1957), a known communist as well as his assistant Jack O’Dell. According to official records, Jack O’Dell was a member of the National Committee of the CPUSA in 1962 and had been listed as a communist party member as early as 1956. Robert Kennedy, and later Jack Kennedy repeatedly warned King to stop associating with communist subversives, though the advice was ignored.

King employed black communist Bayard Rustin from 1955 to 1960 as an associate, advisor and personal secretary. King and Rustin founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) one month after Rustin attended the 16th Convention of the CPUSA in February 1957. King served as president of the SCLC and vice-president was Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, who was also the president of an identified communist front known as the Southern Conference Educational Fund.

Soon after returning from a Moscow visit in 1958, Rustin organized the first of King’s mass demonstrations in Washington, and the official organ of the CPUSA, The Worker," openly declared the march to be a communist project and endorsed it. Although he left King’s employ in 1961, Rustin was called upon by King to be second in command of the much larger march on Washington which took place on August 28, 1964.

Just before the King holiday was signed into law by Ronald Reagan, New Hampshire governor Meldrim Thompson wrote the President expressing grave concern about King’s morality and communist connections. Reagan responded that “I have the same reservations you have, but here the perception of too many people is based on an image, not reality.”

California's Hispanic population to outnumber whites by end of 2013

Like a guest who boorishly arrives two hours early for dinner, the inevitable-but-oh-so-delightful Hispanic future has dropped in on California a tad prematurely. And, yes, California officials are surprised, but happy:

California's Hispanic population is slated to become the state's majority ethnicity by the end of this year according to a new report by the governor's office.

New ethnicity trends outlined in Gov Jerry Brown's 2013-14 budget proposal revealed the state's expected new majority while reasoning the state’s declining birth rates and increasing migration as causes.

It's a swap that comes earlier than experts had expected.
Since Governor Moonbeam's working on the California budget, has he factored in this demographic upheaval? Yes, he has:

Gov Brown, responding to the outlined future of his state, has since proposed shifting more school funding to those schools with more students in poverty and/or don't speak English.

Currently 40 percent of the state's students are living in poverty and 20 percent are non-native English speakers he said.
Wait - I thought only those bad, bad people at VDare and American Renaissance thought Hispanic immigration meant importing poverty. Does this make Jerry Brown an eeeevil white supremacist?

Yes - because noticing certain facts is racist.

19 January Birthdate of General Robert Edward Lee a Legal Holiday in North Carolina

North Carolina in 1892 made the birthdate of Robert E. Lee a legal holiday in the State. Like Washington before him, he led Americans, including North Carolinians, in battle in their second War of Independence in defense of their homes, inalienable rights and liberty. He considered his State of Virginia as his country, and the South as his home.

General Dwight Eisenhower said of him in 1960:

“General Robert E. Lee was, in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation. He believed unswervingly in the Constitutional validity of his cause….he was thoughtful yet demanding of his officers and men, forbearing with captured enemies but ingenious, unrelenting and personally courageous in battle, and never disheartened by a reverse or obstacle.

Through all his many trials, he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his belief in God. Taken altogether, he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history. From deep conviction I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee’s caliber would be unconquerable in spirit and soul.”

Quote of the day

"Americans who still contort their minds and imaginations to justify their foreign empire are ignorant of history and blind to historical patterns. Now what was obvious to a few skeptics like me is becoming increasingly obvious to everyone around the world." Vox Day

Secession movement just needs "more oxygen"

Hey, remember that secession movement that EVERYONE KNOWS can't amount to anything? Well, for some mysterious reason, it's still getting press coverage. Dr. Michael Hill is interviewed over at WND:

A Southern heritage organization that has argued for an investigation of “injustices” committed by Union troops against the South during the Civil War now says the offhand dismissal by the White House of secession petitions filed by residents of all 50 states may actually help the movement.

“I think that this is going to rejuvenate and give it more life, and obviously we need to fan the flames and give it more oxygen,” said Michael Hill, president of the League of the South, which has numerous chapters across the United States.
In other words, the biggest booster of State secession is an arrogant, bankrupt, out-of-control federal government. As Dr. Hill explains:

The League also notes the Obama administration’s actions recently on guns and amnesty for illegal aliens....

“But in the longer term it can be dealt with very effectively by secession and southern independence,” Hill said. “If we were our own country we would not have to be subject to draconian gun laws being forced down our throats by the likes of Chuck Schumer, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein.”
Exactly. Those who are donating their time, sweat, and donations into groups that beg our overlords in DC for a few more gun rights, or for limiting abortion, or to please enforce border security, should instead support the only real solution to all their problems by joining the League of the South.

65% See Gun Rights As Protection Against Tyranny

Need some good news? Here's some:

Two-out-of-three Americans recognize that their constitutional right to own a gun was intended to ensure their freedom.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 65% of American Adults think the purpose of the Second Amendment is to make sure that people are able to protect themselves from tyranny.
Despite the toadies in media comparing gun rights defenders to Nazis, and the Second Amendment to slavery, most people in this country still embrace their inner Rebel. Now that's encouraging.

"It's like they're reading your mind!"

Wait for the ending - it's worth it. You have been warned:

States' Rights and Self-Defense

From the League of the South News Service:

On 16 January 2013, President Barack Obama issued a series of twenty-three "executive actions" designed to control "gun violence" in America.

The League of the South, the premier Southern nationalist organization, issued the following statement from its President, Michael Hill:

"We encourage all Southerners to defend their God-given right to self defense. To defend oneself and one's family, real property, and rights presupposes having the means to do so, and in our day that means firearms ownership and the right to keep and bear such arms whenever and wherever necessary.

We encourage our Southern State governments--the lesser magistrates--to employ the doctrines of Nullification, Interposition, and Secession to protect their citizens from unlawful encroachments by the government of the United States."

Click here to read the entire release.

"The national government is beyond hope."

That's the conclusion of one of the more insightful and articulate bloggers fed up with alien, occupying force in DC. Obama's anti-gun agenda has proved to be the last straw.

This comes from a pro-war blogger I've respectfully disagreed with in the past. Like many other former Bush supporters, he's come to realize that the greatest threat to our security and liberty is not from goat herders in Afghanistan, but from an all-powerful central government. This growing chorus includes many of the posters at Free Republic, and even Sean Hannity.

Obama has stripped away the veneer of respectability and benevolence from Leviathan.

People ask me: Why secession?

Why? So we don't have to submit to being governed by people like this:

"New York is different and more progressive than a lot of areas in other states, and some of the Southern areas have cultures that we have to overcome. But we do have a model set of what Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals, have come together and put the party labels behind them and come forward with something that says, 'hey, we may disagree, but one thing is clear, that we have to do something' and that's exactly what they've done." Charles Rangel, D-Yankeeland

Local minutemen, sheriffs discuss gun control

Here's the kind of community input our Southern elected officials need to hear! From WTVD-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina:

Hundreds of people met Wednesday evening to talk passionately about the Second Amendment and their rights to bear arms.

Three local sheriffs, including Wake County's Donnie Harrison, took part in the minutemen's discussions in Zebulon. The meeting came just hours after President Obama unveiled his gun control plans.

A boiling point in the meeting came about midway through. When dozens inside and dozens more outside of the Fargo Cattle Company Steakhouse bristled about a possibility that the federal government could violate their Second Amendment rights.

"What we didn't hear is that it doesn't matter what they say, we're not going to come and get your guns," said Wayne County resident Adam Drissel.
There's bad and good news here. While the sheriffs did not vow to ignore illegal orders to confiscate the guns of private citizens, they did promise to uphold the Constitution. Now, technically, that's a promise to respect the people's right to self-defense - but I, for one, would've felt better about a more specific promise.

Sometimes we have to settle for what we get.

The other good news is that public officials are getting their eyes opened to the breadth and depth of passion on this issue. And while Obama hasn't threatened to confiscate weapons, the actions he has taken portend further problems.

As always, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. Looks like more people are switching off American Idol and their basketball games and becoming more vigilant.

Oregon sheriff: 'Unconstitutional' gun control laws won't be enforced

Well, there's still some backbone left in this country:

An Oregon sheriff says he will not enforce any federal regulation that President Barack Obama lays out in his package of gun control proposals Wednesday.

Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller joins several other public officials across the nation who have decided to square off with the White House even before it outlines what its plans are for expanded measures.

Mueller sent a letter to Vice President Joe Biden this week saying he won't enforce any federal regulation "offending the constitutional rights of my citizens." He won't permit federal officers to come to his county to enforce such laws either, he said.

Mueller's defiant stand exploded into a groundswell of support. His letter -- posted on the department's Facebook page -- earned more than 59,000 likes and shares -- and was growing by the minute.
THIS is what we need more of!

RIck Perry responds to Obama

I've had my problems with Governor Perry in the past, but I have to hand it to him - his response to Obama's ludicrous and unconstitutional executive orders on private gun ownership is a classic:

"In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president."
Now THAT sounds like something a Southern governor would say!

Let's look at Obama's Executive Order #16

No good can come of this:

"Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes."

So - in the name of "health care," which is actually an unconstitutional mandate of socialized medicine, DC will use health care providers to spy on citizens.

Now THAT'S scary!

Family of MLK's former secretary is sued by his estate

One thing you have to admit about MLK's heirs - they definitely keep their eyes on the prize. They have cashed in on their father's name and made millions on MLK's legacy. Thanks to MLK, the goodies flow to them like a mighty stream.

That's why they're suing MLK's former secretary for papers worth a measly $75,000. Yes, these fat cats are bullying an 87-year-old lady. Can't let any droplets of that mighty stream flow in the wrong direction, you see. And this isn't the first time these insatiable moneygrubbers have sued to fatten their estate:

The suit is among the latest in a series of legal actions taken in the name of King’s estate.

In 1987, Coretta Scott King sued Boston University for personal papers from her husband’s graduate school days. In 2008, Martin and Bernice King sued their brother, Dexter, accusing him of mismanaging the family corporation that controls King’s image and intellectual property. There have been other lawsuits and threats of suits.
What a perfect symbol of the Civil Rights hustle.

White House: North Carolina can't secede

Well, we asked permission, but the government says we can't govern ourselves. I guess that's how government of the people, by the people, and for the people works.

Dr. Michael Hill on Obama’s response to secession petitions

From the Southern Nationalist Network:

Dr. Michael Hill is President of the League of the South, a former university professor and the author of Celtic Warfare and Fire & Sword. In this podcast Dr Hill speaks about the White House’s response to the secession petitions which were signed by over a million people who want to secede from the United States. Dr Hill talks about why he is glad that the Obama Administration argued that ‘might makes right.’ He continues by addressing the moral argument in favour of self-determination. Finally, Dr Hill touches on recent remarks on secession and the US war against the South by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh and announces the upcoming League of the South national conference for 2013.

54,000 Mexicans sign petition for US gun control

I bet Obama pays attention to this petition. After all, 54,000 future Democratic voters Mexicans can't be wrong.

Texas Proposal: JAIL Any Federal Officials Trying to Enforce New Gun Restrictions in the State

Speaking of Texas, here's another reason to know hope:

A Texas lawmaker says he plans to file the Firearms Protection Act, which would make any federal laws that may be passed by Congress or imposed by Presidential order which would ban or restrict ownership of semi-automatic firearms or limit the size of gun magazines illegal in the state, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Republican Rep. Steve Toth says his measure also calls for felony criminal charges to be filed against any federal official who tries to enforce the rule in the state.
Let's hope and pray this proposal becomes a bill, that it's passed, and then ENFORCED.

The Texas Nationalist Movement Responds To White House

We've all seen the White House's official response to the secession petitions. In short, the regime's response was, "Self-determination? Forget it! We're in control."

What the White House is saying is that we must submit to DC's agenda, like it or not. From the overriding of the Bill of Rights, including the right to self-defense and the right to a jury trial, to Obama's intention to transform the country into another banana republic, our role is to fund our own dispossession and keep our mouths shut.

So this energetic and bold response from the Texas Nationalist Movement is especially invigorating:

In the absence of a Constitutional prohibition to a State asserting its independence and with the firm knowledge that the actions of the Federal Government represent an definite impairment to the right of local self-government, the Obama administration's response to the petition for secession for Texas represents yet another argument in favor of Texas independence.

With their response to the secession petition, the Obama administration restates the opinion of other current and past world leaders such as Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, Bashir Assad, Mao Zedong, Santa Anna and King George III who also believed that governments can and should deny the right of self-determination.

In doing so, they have couched their response with misinterpretations of the Constitution, a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature and construction of the Union, ignorance of the intent and words of the Founding Fathers, contempt for the sovereignty of the States and thinly-veiled threats of violence against any State that exercises their right to self-determination.
Well said! Here's a toast to our friends in the Texas Nationalist Movement:

Thanks to Patrick for forwarding!

Liberalism Versus Blacks

Every time Thomas Sowell publishes a new article, liberals chip their molars from all the teeth-gnashing. So here's Sowell's latest iconoclastic masterpiece:

Liberals try to show their concern for the poor by raising the level of minimum wage laws. Yet they show no interest in hard evidence that minimum wage laws create disastrous levels of unemployment among young blacks in this country, as such laws created high unemployment rates among young people in general in European countries.

The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals' expansion of the welfare state. Most black children grew up in homes with two parents during all that time but most grow up with only one parent today.

Liberals have pushed affirmative action, supposedly for the benefit of blacks and other minorities. But two recent factual studies show that affirmative action in college admissions has led to black students with every qualification for success being artificially turned into failures by being mismatched with colleges for the sake of racial body count.
That last sentence about the all-important metric of progressivism, "body count," is very insightful. Leftists venerate numbers more than anything; the actual impact on real people's lives just doesn't register with them. The more the better in everything.

Rush Limbaugh: US Left wants to ‘finish off’ the South

I don't always agree with Rush, but he's on the money this time. A great instant analysis from the Southern Nationalist Network.

Penn Jillette: "Mistrust of government is a beautiful thing"

"I disagree with Bush and Obama tremendously, and on the exact same issues."

Obama claims "executive authority" over guns

No need to worry about confiscation, says Obama - after all, he assures us, "responsible" gun owners have nothing to worry about. Well, I feel better - but he's still laying the groundwork for future, more radical action:

Obama added that he was willing to take steps to "reduce gun violence" through executive action. "I'm confident that there are some steps we can take that don't require legislation and that are within my authority as president," he asserted.
Remember when Al Sharpton urged Obama to "to work like a Third-World dictator" to accomplish his goals? This claim of authority over gun rights sounds like something a "presidente for life" from some banana republic would say.

Southern Discomfort

George Packer argues that the South's disproportional influence on the politics and culture of the rest of the US is fading, thanks to demographic changes. As a result, he argues, there's "a larger historical shift is under way." In this New Yorker article, Packer explores the possible directions this shift could take:

As its political power declines, the South might occupy a place like Scotland’s in the United Kingdom, as a cultural draw for the rest of the country, with a hint of the theme park. Country music and NASCAR remain huge. Alabama teams have won the past four college football titles. After the Crimson Tide’s big win over Notre Dame on January 7th, a Web site called Real Southern Men explained the significance in terms of regional defiance: “Football matters here, because it is symbolic of the fight we all fight. Winning matters here, because it is symbolic of the victories we all seek. Trophies matter here, because they are symbolic of the respect we deserve but so rarely receive.” That defiance is a sure sign, like Governor Rick Perry’s loose talk of Texas seceding, that Southernization has run its course.
As I see it, there are only two alternatives: submission and subordination to a Third-World tide, or independence and survival.

Robert E. Lee Birthday Observance

Please plan to attend the annual Robert E. Lee Birthday Observance at the Old State Capitol House Chambers, downtown Raleigh this coming Saturday, 19 January at 2PM. The birthdate of Lee has been observed as a legal holiday in North Carolina since the early 1890s, and it is one of three days when the flag of the Confederate States of America flies over the Old State Capitol building.

This year’s keynote speaker is Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman of the North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission, and Director of the Cape Fear Historical Institute.

The Observance is sponsored by the North Carolina Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Military Order of the Stars and Bars. The Old State Capitol building, built in 1840, is located at 1 East Edenton Street, downtown Raleigh.

Bernie's Southern History

“The much-vaunted “march to the sea” was a pleasure excursion, through a well-cultivated country….Sherman boastfully writes that he “destroyed two hundred sixty-five miles of railroad, carried off ten thousand mules, and countless slaves; that he did damage to the amount of $100,000,000. Of this, his army got $20,000,000, and the $80,000,000 was waste,” as they went “looting” through Georgia.

But not content with this, when “this cruel war was over,” he presented the delectable spectacle of “how we went thieving through Georgia” at the grand review of his army in Washington, by mounting his bummers on mules laden with chickens, ducks, geese, lambs, pigs and other farm productions, unblushingly displayed, to cover up the concealed money, jewelry and plate taken from the helpless women – to delight the President, to edify the loyal people, to gratify the hatred of the populace to the South, to popularize the thirst for plundering made by his troops, to be an object lesson to the present generation, to instill a broader view of moral right, to heighten modest sensibilities, to refine the delicate tastes of young ladies, to humiliate a conquered people; or wherefore was this unwise “Punch and Judy” show given?

During the revolutionary war, when the British fleet ascended the Potomac river, one ship sailed up to Mount Vernon – the residence of the arch rebel, Washington – and made a requisition for provisions which his agent filled. The English commander must have been a gentleman because he did not burn the dwelling, insult the family, nor commit robbery!!!

Gen. Bradley T. Johnston, in his life of General J.E. Johnston, quotes that, “Abubekr in the year 634 gave his chiefs of the army of Syria orders as follows: Remember that you are always in the presence of God, on the verge of death, and in the assurance of judgment and the hope of paradise. When you fight the battles of the Lord acquit yourselves like men, without turning your backs; but let not your victory be stained with the blood of women and children. Destroy no palm tree, nor burn any fields of corn….nor do any mischief to cattle, only such as you kill to eat…..”

It is not I who charge Sherman with destroying cornfields, cutting down fruit trees, or “driving off one cow and one pig;” he himself boasts as having done it. If he did take “one cow and one pig,” he kindly left the poor women their tears and their memory.”

Farrakhan on 'Django Unchained': 'It's Preparation for Race War'

Farrakhan isn't the only anti-White radical with this view of Tarantino's latest cinematic bloodbath. Others have said the same.

Quote of the day

"Secession from the degenerate, socialist blue states is looking to be a more viable, more realistic option than ever. Amputating the cancer is likely the only route left for survival. Hannity foresees states leaving union if federal government continues ‘radicalized, abusive’ pattern

Wait - SEAN HANNITY has endorseed the principle of secession?

Next thing you know, Joe Lieberman will call for an end to US taxpayer subsidies to Israel, and Mark Potok will demand that DC enforce the borders.

Days of miracle and wonder ...

Welcome to the fringe! cont'd

As the anti-Second Amendment lynch mob swells around the nation, stoked by our overlords in DC and their toadies in the media, it's comforting to see cool-headed, objective reporting on the issue from Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center:

The League of the South, a white supremacist secessionist group based in Alabama, on Wednesday said that “the biggest threat is the U.S. government itself” and described the Obama administration as “a criminal regime.” “Those in positions of power who exceed the limits of lawful authority ought to be made to live in mortal fear of their transgressions,” league president Michael Hill said.
Well, thank you for that, Mark. We couldn't ask for a more fair and unbiased report. (I have quoted the SPLC agitprop as it appeared on their site, EXCEPT where I inserted links to the actual party cited, instead of links to the SPLC's own jaundiced hit pieces.)

Dr. Hill's last statement in that paragraph above mirrors Thomas Jefferson's own view about the proper relationship between the people and their government. So how that's supposed to prove Hill's or the League's "extremism" is puzzling.

And as for the League viewing DC as "the biggest threat," we need to recall this statement from that notorious den of radical right opinion that calls itself "CNN":

Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government's become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens.
56%, eh? So once again, I wonder: Who's the real extremist? And who's reflecting the views of the Founders and the majority?

Gun-free zones work!

White House responds to secession petitions

"Once you're in, you can't get out."

Welcome to the fringe!

It's been kinda fun watching the metrosexuals squirm as people have voted with their wallets in favor of the right to bear arms. Gun dealers can't keep up with demand, and that's good.

Almost equally entertaining - and instructive - is the War Party's reaction to Chuck Hagel. Now, as we've cautioned, Hagel's no peacenik, but in the eyes of the looney tunes in charge of "accepted" public opinion, he's out of the "mainstream," meaning he agrees with the vast majority of Americans that we do NOT need any more foreign military adventures. As Pat Buchanan observes, it's the War Party that's really stuck in the fringe. After all, Obama won in 2008 because he was perceived as the peace candidate.

From open borders, to endless wars, to gun rights, the ruling elite is 'way out there in never-never land compared to most voters. Our overlords imagine themselves to be the norm, and anyone who questions them MUST be the extremist.

From a spike in gun sales, to continued support for border security, to the growing public rejection of endless wars, the ruling elite is in for some more rude shocks. What fun to watch them flail their arms and run around in panic.

Give 'em Hagel!

Chuck Hagel had the audacity to say that he was a US senator, not an Israeli senator. To the Israel-firsters, that was blasphemy.

Just as leftists scream that resistance to affirmative action and open borders can only arise from “racism,” Neocons whine that failing to subsidize Israel is evidence of anti-Semitism.

The real problem with Hagel, as far as the Neocon nutjobs go, is that among pro-war berserkers, Hagel just isn't berserk enough. In fact, Hagel can be counted on to continue the Obama regime's program of illegal, secret wars fought by drones and hit squads - that's the way "No-Drama" Obama likes it. Both Obama and Hegel are all for continuing the Empire's bloody agenda of intervention into everybody else's affairs so DC can continue to enforce its hegemony.

As tempting as it sounds to support someone the War Lobby hates, it doesn't make sense. Hagel is just another liberal interventionist for the Empire.

Quote of the day

“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” Thomas Jefferson

League of the South news release

9 January 2013

For immediate release:

The Obama administration is threatening to use Executive Orders to further dismantle the Second Amendment. Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein (CA) is set to introduce a draconian bill to ban “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines, among other things, later this month. Between the two, they are intent on turning otherwise law-abiding gun owners in the South and elsewhere into outlaws with the stroke of a pen.

But won’t these law-abiding gun owners comply with the new “laws?” Won’t they dutifully register their “assault weapons” with the authorities and submit to other restrictions on buying, owning, and transferring firearms? Some will but many will not. They will instead become outlaws.

In the last month, millions of Americans have bought millions of weapons and over a billion rounds of ammunition. They are not buying these expensive things in order to register them or turn them in to the gun grabbers at some point in the future. They are buying them to defend themselves, their families, and their property from whomever might threaten them. And at present, the biggest threat is the U.S. government itself.

The League of the South, the premier Southern nationalist organization, will not comply with any diminution of our God-given right to keep and bear the sort of arms a free people need to remain free. This means “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines. Moreover, we will view any attempt to deprive the Southern people of these tools as a criminal act by a criminal regime.

League President, Michael Hill, noted: “Those in positions of power who exceed the limits of lawful authority ought to be made to live in mortal fear of their transgressions. This is the foundation of a free and healthy society.”

Hill also pointed out that “gun control is not about limiting violence against the innocent. On the contrary, it is about promoting it against the law abiding. Once the citizenry is effectively disarmed, it will be open season for thugs of both the underclass and the ruling class to dispossess the productive and law-abiding middle class.”

The League of the South is an advocate for a free and independent South. Therefore, we understand that a free people is an armed people. And, as Hill puts it: “We intend to be free from the destructive clutches of Washington, DC, sooner rather than later, God willing. And that will necessitate us being armed to defend our liberty for those who would deny it to us.”

Obama considering Executive Orders against guns

What's a Chief Executive to do with a do-nothing Congress? Or one that stalls the president's agenda on silly constitutional grounds?

When negotiations fail, there's always the imperial option - and according to Joe Biden, Obama is considering just that:

President Barack Obama is exploring executive orders to help stop mass shootings in America, Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday.

"The president is going to act. Executive orders, executive action, can be taken," Biden told reporters before meetings with groups representing survivors of mass shootings. "We haven't decided what this is yet, but we're compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and all the rest of the Cabinet members."
Americans and their "representatives" in the Congress have shut their eyes to the steady increase in Executive power over the years. The CiC now claims the power to launch war unilaterally, to imprison or even execute Americans without a trial, and to ignore existing immigration control laws. So what's to stop the president from outlawing guns? Congress won't. The Supreme Court won't.

Only this can stop him now:

The troubling lessons from Tinley Park

The good news is that five racial socialists have been sent to jail for attacking unsuspecting restaurant patrons. The bad news? For starters, the perpetrators benefited from free legal aid from attorneys who agree with the attackers' notion that anyone branded a "racist" has no rights, so an attack on them is justified.

While the authorities who handled the case did not openly embrace the attackers' ideology, they definitely failed to prosecute the thugs with the vigor they should have, as Nicholas Stix explains in this disturbing and eye-opening article.

Particularly ominous is that supporters of the "antifa" (anti-fascist) bullies who commited this assault openly brag about violently confronting anyone they deem "racist." The Anti Racist Action goons entered the Tinley Park restaurant yelling, "Hey, bitches, the ARA is going to f--- up this place.” One "anti-racist" web site said this about the Tinley Park attack: "The Five heroically showed that these [racist] groups have to be crushed sooner than later." Here's an account of their "heroic" action:

Panic shot through the small Tinley Park restaurant as quickly as the stream of determined, black-clad assailants marched in, clubs and hammers in hand.

The wide-eyed hostess frantically dialed 911. Old men leapt from their tables and grabbed chairs to fend off the surprise attack.

Instantly batons and fists were flying, launching food, plates and chaos. In less than two minutes, the attackers headed for the doors, fighting off customers and restaurant staff into the parking lot.

Ten people were injured, at least three of them needing staples to close bloody head wounds.

An unpublished restaurant security video viewed by the Tribune of the bizarre Saturday afternoon melee had no sound — but it screams with images of fear and aggression.

Men in their twenties hide behind masks so they can launch a sneak attack on elderly victims. Yeah - real heroic. But the attackers were motivated by noble intentions, you see. They saw the attack as a "pre-emptive" action against "racism."

That's the toxic thinking that led to this crime. Now we have the added incitement of Tarantino's "Django," in which, as one enthusiastic viewer wrote, an ex-slave "triumphs over white supremacists." As if that wasn't sufficiently blood-curdling, here are tweets from viewers who openly call for the murder of whites after viewing the movie.

No wonder folks are arming themselves these days.

2- Create lesson plans for school teachers to "correct for deficiencies in American history school textbooks." (Because the public schools, as EVERYONE KNOWS, are SOOO biased toward the South and against the Union.)

3 - More papers about the neo-Confederates could be written for scholarly publication.

4 - Fundraising and administration of the "Anti-Neo-Confederate Super PAC." This "Super PAC" will conduct "political actions to oppose neo-Confederacy." (It's about time someone offered an alternative to all those pro-Confederacy political juggernauts that dominate American politics.)

5 - Torment and publically embarrass the Southern Poverty Law Center until Morris Dees finally consents to give Ed Sebesta a job.

Sebesta's ANC not only has the sprawling headquarters shown above, but a Facebook page and Twitter account. Both pages not only remind visitors of how important Ed Sebesta is, but also feature Sebesta's awesome "anti-Confederate flag." Even more disheartening for Southerners and advocates of local self-determination, Sebesta's Twitter account reveals he already has 6 - yes, "six" - followers.

We might as well surrender now and take up scrapbooking.

Bernie's Southern History

This new feature by Bernhard Thuersam will highlight overlooked facts of Southern history our handlers would prefer we forgot. Enjoy!

General George B. McClellan believed that the War against the American South should be “conducted according to the established usage of civilized nations,” not against civilians, and with an intent to minimize destruction and casualties.

Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman, North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission

"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Richmond Must Fall to a Republican General:

“McClellan’s troubles began when some Democratic papers in early 1862 began touting him as a presidential candidate in 1864. This was not his doing, but it sealed his fate. The Republicans in Congress and the White House realized that they had a problem: Were McClellan to capture Richmond, he would pose a serious threat to Lincoln’s reelection. In other words, military victory in 1862 meant political defeat in 1864.

[The Republicans] could not demote McClellan, however: He was too popular and respected, and they had no reason they could give for doing so. Their only was out of this dilemma was for McClellan and the Army of the Potomac to fail. And it appears that Lincoln and his new Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton, deliberately sabotaged McClellan’s peninsular campaign.

….McClellan was right to advance on Richmond from the east, via the peninsula between the James and York Rivers, as opposed to the overland route favored by the [Lincoln] administration. It was shorter, had fewer natural obstacles, and could be supplied and reinforced easily by sea, but it was McClellan’s plan, and that doomed it.

At the outset of the campaign, the President, after assuring McClellan otherwise, transferred [General Louis] Blenker’s division to General [John] Fremont in the Shenandoah Valley; then he withheld [General Irvin] McDowell’s Corps (for the defense of Washington, he claimed). That was 50,000 troops. A member of his staff told him: “General, the authorities at Washington are painfully afraid that you will succeed in taking Richmond, and therefore are stripping your army in the beginning.”

So, when the Seven Days battles commenced in late June [1862], McClellan, on the offensive, was outnumbered (101,000 to 112,000). These engagements hardly amounted to the decisive repulse they are sometimes described as. McClellan’s command suffered fewer casualties than did the Confederates (15,849 to 20,614), little equipment or supplies were lost, and his new position on the James River was secure; with reinforcements, he could had resumed the offensive in August.

The President’s decision to terminate the campaign and withdraw McClellan’s army was not a military one. Gen. John Pope’s Army of Virginia was ready to march south. Richmond would be taken by a Republican general, or not at all. Pope issued orders that essentially authorized the plundering of civilians and the destruction of property. The reign of arson and theft had begun.

When McClellan heard of the new policy, he was appalled and vowed never to carry it out: “I will not permit this army to degenerate into a mob of thieves.” He later sent a letter of rebuke to Lincoln: The war “should be conducted according to the highest principles known to Christian civilization. It should not be….a War upon population; but against armed forces and political organizations.”

America's coming gun war

Here's some encouraging news from Pat Buchanan: The spirit of rebellion is still alive:

Just as East Berliners, before the Wall was built, voted with their feet, fleeing west, Americans are voting with their checkbooks, paying hundreds and thousands of dollars to buy the guns liberals loathe.

The reflexive response of the gun controllers is to blame this on that malevolent force, the gun lobby, at whose apex is the NRA.

But those crowds coming to gun shows in droves and buying semi-automatics are not there because the NRA issued some order.
It's a good idea to remind our DC overlords that this country is still guided by the Spirit of 1776, not 1984.

Bank of America Freezes Gun Manufacturer's Account

Yet another reason to cancel your BoA accounts:

Bank of America has reportedly frozen the account of gun manufacturer American Spirit Arms, according to its owner, Joe Sirochman.

In a Facebook post dated December 29, Sirochman wrote the following:

“My name is Joe Sirochman owner of American Spirit Arms...our Web site orders have jumped 500 percent causing our Web site e-commerce processing larger deposits to Bank of America. So they decided to hold the deposits for further review.

“After countless hours on the phone with Bank of America, I finally got a manager in the right department that told me the reason that the deposits were on hold for further review -- her exact words were -- ‘We believe you should not be selling guns and parts on the Internet.’”(emphasis added)

Sirochman also wrote that he told the bank manager that “they have no right to make up their own new rules and regs” and that “[American Spirit is a] firearms manufacturer with all the proper licensing.”
You may recall the prominent role BoA's president, Hugh McColl, played during the attack on South Carolina's Battleflag memorial to its WBTS dead. Now the company (possibly in cahoots with other globalist megacorps) is attacking our gun rights.

If you have a BoA credit card or checking account, now is a good time to cancel AND TELL THEM WHY.

By Any Measure, the U.S. Is the Largest Sponsor of Terror

The "vast, consolidated republic" that Robert E. Lee warned about is responsible for killing civilians resisting foreign domination in the Philippines, Indonesia, Iraq, and in many other areas around the world targeted for DC-styled "liberation."

From blatant international bullying to secretly organizing death squads, no other force on earth is as malevolent as the DC Empire.

VP Biden: Hispanics "the Center of this Nation's Future"

Step aside, amateurs - no one can pander like Joe Biden:

Seeking to consolidate support from Hispanic lawmakers ahead of an all-out amnesty battle, Vice President Joe Biden last week called Hispanics "the center of this nation's future." The Vice President made these remarks in a speech at a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) event held to welcome Hispanic Members of the 113th Congress. Biden was joined at the inside-the-beltway event by other Administration officials, including Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar and Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.
Well, he's right - IF we allow DC to ignore immigration laws and let Hispanics displace Americans, then, yes, the US will become yet another Hispanic country, with an Hispanic majority in control. Joe even made this explicit:

Biden encouraged the audience to get the Hispanic community mobilized to push for amnesty legislation. "It's no longer about what can be done for the Hispanic community," he said. "The question is what the Hispanic community is going to do to take this country to a totally new place."
Question - do WE get a say in this transformation? I've spent time in Latin America. It's an interesting place to visit - but I would NOT want to live there.

How about you?

Judge orders Black and Latino newcomers to be advanced ahead of senior firemen

Everyone is equal - and if an admissions test for firefighters fails to reflect that Fundamental Truth™, then OBVIOUSLY the test is racist. And racism must be punished:

Nearly 300 black and Latino firefighter candidates who didn’t score high enough to join the FDNY in 1999 and 2002 are getting a rare opportunity take their entrance exams again. ...

The break is part of a controversial ruling from Brooklyn Judge Nicholas Garaufis, who in July found the FDNY guilty of discrimination after a group of black firefighters and the Vulcan Society successfully challenged the methodology of its entrance exams.

Garaufis ordered the city to pay $187 million in damages.
Veteran firefighters were outraged by the ruling - but you know how those beneficiaries of White privilege are.

Besides, who cares about them? We should instead focus on what this ruling means to those who get that little extra boost from a compassionate government. Jose Ortiz, for example, told a reporter he "had to fight back tears" when he heard he gets to try again. This time, he promised, he's going to go into that testiing center "like a warrior." Yes - a warrior fighting back tears - exactly the kind of man you want to depend on when you're trapped in a burning building.

The Soviet Union collapsed as a direct result of its anti-human, communist economic system. The DC Empire is dying from its blind adherence to the anti-human ideology of equality.

Jesus and the Democrat

A Republican, in a wheelchair, entered a restaurant one afternoon and asked the waitress for a cup of coffee. The Republican looked across the restaurant and asked, "Is that Jesus sitting over there?"

The waitress nodded "yes," so the Republican requested that she give Jesus a cup of coffee, on him.

The next patron to come in was a Libertarian, with a hunched back. He shuffled over to a booth, painfully sat down, and asked the waitress for a cup of hot tea. He also glanced across the restaurant and asked, "Is that Jesus, over there?"

The waitress nodded, so the Libertarian asked her to give Jesus a cup of hot tea, "My treat."

The third patron to come into the restaurant was a Democrat on crutches. He hobbled over to a booth, sat down, and hollered, "Hey there honey! How's about getting me a cold mug of Miller Light?" He too looked across the restaurant and asked, "Isn't that God's boy over there?"

The waitress nodded, so the Democrat directed her to give Jesus a cold beer. "On my bill," he said loudly.

As Jesus got up to leave, he passed by the Republican, touched him, and said, "For your kindness, you are healed." The Republican felt the strength come back into his legs, got up, and danced a jig out the door.

Jesus passed by the Libertarian, touched him, and said, "For your kindness, you are healed." The Libertarian felt his back straightening up, and he raised his hands, praised the Lord, and did a series of back flips out the door.

Then, Jesus walked towards the Democrat, just smiling.

The Democrat jumped up and yelled, "Don't touch me ... I'm on disability."

Quote of the day

"There's always been a political and cultural disconnect between the South and the rest of the country. But as the parties have sorted themselves out geographically over the last few decades, the size of that gap has increased." Dan Schnur, of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics.

From opposition to the radical 1965 Immigration Act to standing up for gun rights, the South continues to resist the leftist, big-government agenda.

Pelosi on Raising Debt Ceiling Unilaterally: ‘I Would Do It in a Second, But I’m Not the President'

For those who still don't believe that the 14th Amendment was forced on the nation as a power grab by the central government, this report should open their eyes:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday that she would raise the debt limit unilaterally “in a second” if she were president of the United States.

Pelosi and other Democrats have suggested that the president could bypass Congress and unilaterally raise the debt ceiling by invoking the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which states, “The validity of the public debt of the United States…shall not be questioned.”
And if you argue the 14th Amendment should be revised and clarified, you're a racist white supremacist who wants to put blacks back into slavery.

In suburbs of L.A., a cottage industry of birth tourism

The 14th Amendment is DC's sledgehammer for demolishing States' Rights and boosting its own power. Now it's being used by foreigners to legally invade America and displace its people:

USA Baby Care's website makes no attempt to hide why the company's clients travel to Southern California from China and Taiwan. It's to give birth to an American baby.

"Congratulations! Arriving in the U.S. means you've already given your child a surefire ticket for winning the race," the site says in Chinese. "We guarantee that each baby can obtain a U.S. passport and related documents."

That passport is just the beginning of a journey that will lead some of the children back to the United States to take advantage of free public schools and low-interest student loans, as the website notes. The whole family may eventually get in on the act, since parents may be able to piggyback on the child's citizenship and apply for a green card when the child turns 21.
Note to regular readers Billy Yank and Ed Sebesta: Do you really think this was the intention of the drafters of the 14th Amendment? I'd like to see your thoughts on this.

The most diverse Congress ever

And that's a good thing, says CNN:

The newly sworn-in 113th Congress is the most diverse group of representatives in history, reflecting changing demographics and changing public attitudes.

98 women, 43 African-Americans, 31 Latinos, 12 Asian-American and Pacific Islanders, and seven gay and bisexual members are now new members of the House and Senate. Plus, there is the first Buddhist member in the Senate and Hindu member in the House of Representatives.
And, as EVERYONE KNOWS, the more diverse something is, the better it is. So we can expect balanced budgets, the end of gridlock, and the end of DC's war on the Bill of Rights.
