A statement on the situation at Washington and Lee Universit

For immediate release

The League of the South does not wish to reason nor seek brotherhood with the broad forces responsible for removing the St. Andrews cross from Lee Chapel at Washington and Lee University. Nor will we call them bigots or accuse them of not understanding the South.

Rather we Southern nationalists seek only their destruction as we would any pest that threatens our people and our land. We call them one thing and one thing only: enemy. And we care not on iota whether they understand the South or not. For the South belongs to us and we are here to claim our birthright.

We can promise them and their allies this. That their campaign to destroy our culture and its images will be taken as a campaign to destroy our blood. It is a war they have started but one we will finish, God willing. By the grace of Almighty Providence we will banish them and their godless kind from our land as a householder banishes rats from his steading.

On this they have our solemn promise made under our banner, the Black Cross.

On behalf of the board, staff, and membership of The League of the South,
I am,

Michael Hill, President

Federal Lab Scraps ‘Southern Accent Reduction’ Course Idea

If anyone ever doubted that D.C. wants to homogenize the humanity out of its subjects, this story should open their eyes:
Workers at a federal laboratory in Tennessee can talk with Southern accents to their heart’s content after managers scrapped an idea to help them “fix” their natural dialects.
Last week, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a science and technology lab operated by the U.S. Department of Energy, announced that it would be offering a six-week “Southern Accent Reduction” course, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.
The lab’s human resources department pitched the idea, claiming that the training would help staff overcome “the most common pronunciation and grammatical differences between Southern dialects and standard American English.”
Staffers could “feel confident in a meeting when you need to speak with a more neutral American accent” the course description claimed.
I lift my glass to the proud Southerners who stood up to this outrage and got the course killed. That's one cultural skirmish we won.

Quote of the day

"Americans will not accept nullification of their laws passed by their elected representatives." Senator Jeff Sessions, on Obama's de facto amnesty for illegal aliens.

Are we on the brink of war?

In 1914, a fading empire imagined it could use its still-potent military to restore its former glory. The rising powers thought it was time to grab for their share. The result was World War I.

Today, the players have changed, but the tensions - and the stakes - are eerily similar. From the Melbourne Herald Sun:

In 2013 the world’s sole superpower suffered a near mortal blow to its credibility. The leaks of Julian Assange, Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden have exposed the nation’s rampant exceptionalism. Its diplomatic and moral credentials are in tatters. Yet it still maintains its stance as the world’s moral compass. ...
The United States has been living beyond its means for far too long. But can it bring itself to face reality?
With dwindling resources and ballooning debts, the United States appears to feel the need to prove to itself that it is still the world's benevolent judge, jury and executioner.
Just what it is prepared to do to maintain this illusion has already been seen in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Here are some of the similarities between 1914 and 2014:

- Fading empires: Fearing the future and grasping at what they have
- A "place in the sun": With new power comes big ambitions
- Global 'flashpoints': Rogue states and disputed regions
- Globalisation: With all its benefits and pressures
- Arms race: New technology negates old might

You definitely want to read the whole thing.

Thanks to Earl for forwarding - and for giving me some new material for my nightmares.

Illegal immigrants protest outside White House, with little fear of repercussions

If illegal aliens demonstrate such brash disregard for American law now, what kind of behavior can we expect once their numbers reach critical mass? I can think of no other act that more clearly reveals the intentions of the floodtide that's still pouring over the southwest border.

A nation without borders is not a nation. America is a vast carcass waiting to be picked over.

Iraq is already splitting into three states

Why do we say the Empire is failing? Because its projects are failing. Its goal to establish a "democracy" in the Middle East has failed miserably. From USA Today

Ever since U.S. forces invaded Iraq and toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003, the U.S. government has worried that Iraq would splinter into three states — each representing the feuding religious and ethnic factions the dictator held together through his iron rule.
It may no longer be necessary to worry that Iraq will break apart. In many ways, it already has.
The radical Islamic State that seized a swath of western and central Iraq last month effectively left the nation in three pieces, government officials and analysts say. ...
Ryan Crocker, who served as U.S. ambassador to Iraq from 2007 to 2009, described the divisions as "Shiastan," "Jihadistan" and Kurdistan. The references are to the majority Shiite Muslims, who run the national government in Baghdad; the insurgent Sunni Muslim jihadists who make up the Islamic State; and the ethnic Kurds, who have long presided over an oil-rich, semiautonomous enclave in the north
In 2002, as Americans were recovering from the shock of 9/11, Dick Cheney stated D.C.'s lofty purpose for invading Iraq: "Our goal would be an Iraq that has territorial integrity, a government that is democratic and pluralistic, a nation where the human rights of every ethnic and religious group are recognized and respected." Yes, there's nothing quite like an idealistic-sounding goal to justify naked aggression.

By forging a "democratic and pluralistic" Iraq, D.C. would prove it could do the same at home and throughout the world. After all, "diversity" is a strength. Sure it is.

In fact, democratic institutions can only arise where there is mutual trust, and that exists only where the population is united. The devolution of Iraq is a powerful reminder of the timeless vitality and resilience of ethnicity. Airy abstractions can only be imposed by force, and when the force is removed, people will do what comes naturally, and that is to self-organize along ethnic lines. It's obvious to everyone not blinded by ideology and the lust for power.

How's that OTHER war going?

D.C.'s foreign wars aren't going very well, as the previous post indicates. But the Evil Empire's never-ending war against traditional America marches on! Federal judges (surprise!) just ruled against Virginia's constitutional ban on same-sex "marriage":
A federal appeals court panel in Virginia became the second one this summer to strike down a state ban against same-sex marriage Monday, making it more likely that the Supreme Court will settle the issue as early as next year.
The three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond ruled 2-1 that gay men and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry that is paramount to state marriage laws.

Taliban Regain Territory in Kandahar, Raising Doubts on Afghan Army

This report should dispel all doubt as to whether the U.S. could train and finance an Afghan army that could  be just as effective as the Iraq army.

Ukrainian artillery pounds Donetsk, refugees flee

Wait a minute - did you say the Ukrainians were shelling civilian areas? Our leaders told us the Russians were the bad guys.

The NSA’s New Partner in Spying: Saudi Arabia’s Brutal State Police

Here's the latest from the former Land of the Free:
The National Security Agency last year significantly expanded its cooperative relationship with the Saudi Ministry of Interior, one of the world’s most repressive and abusive government agencies. An April 2013 top secret memo provided by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden details the agency’s plans “to provide direct analytic and technical support” to the Saudis on “internal security” matters.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior—referred to in the document as MOI— has been condemned for years as one of the most brutal human rights violators in the world.
I'm sure the Empire's loyal flacks will condemn Snowden for pulling aside the curtain and revealing D.C.'s skunk works.  He'll be branded as anti-Semitic or white supremacist or something. But it's all for nothing - people are now seeing the Evil Empire for what it is, and name-calling, no matter how shrill or loud, will make people forget. Tick-tock ...

10,000 Rally in Boston Against Obama’s Illegal Aliens

Whoa. If a massive rally like this took place in the South, the corporate media would be screaming about "racism." So they ignore it instead.

Thing is, public outrage at this level will be difficult to ignore forever:

Guatemalan president: Central America needs at least $2 billion ‘to attack the root of the problem’

Not too long ago, a foreign leader's threat to send an invading army unless tribute is paid would anger Americans. Now the best we can do is dicker on "How much?"

But that's exactly what President Molina of Guatemala did Thursday:

The president of Guatemala believes the United States should provide at least $2 billion in aid to Central American countries in order "to attack the root of the problem" causing recent waves of illegal immigration.
During an interview with The Washington Post Thursday -- his only sitdown with an American newspaper during the trip --
Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina acknowledged that it will be up to President Obama and Congress to determine how the U.S. should respond to the influx of Central American migrants.
But "If they want to attack the root of the problem, I think that they need to think about making investments in countries like Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras," he said. "The United States is spending about $20 billion on border security and other border crossings where they process children and where they treat them and all those other processes. We say that with just 10 percent of that money that you’re investing on the U.S. border, it could be spent at minimum in the three countries and I’m confident that it would be much more profitable than investing it on border security or border control with Mexico."
In a way, it's gratifying to see Latino countries admit their inability to equal Western civilization. Their dysfunctional societies cannot maintain order or take care of their own people. But we do not have infinite capacity. Nor do we want to see our country colonized and transformed. And we have the right to defend that which is ours.

Anti-Spying bill signed into law in New Hampshire

It's clear D.C. is impervious to reform. It's equally clear our imperial overlords intend to spy on their subjects in order to keep them under control. So the only safeguard left is within the sovereign States. New Hampshire just passed a law that directly counters the lawless NSA:

New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan has signed into law a bill that not only bans state and local law enforcement from searching an electronic device without a warrant, but also prohibits a small but important category of what the NSA has been doing with the warrantless data it collects.
House Bill 1533 (HB1533) was passed unanimously by both legislative houses and was ultimately sent to Gov. Hassan’s desk last month. It bans government entities from searching “information contained in a portable electronic device” without a warrant “signed by a judge and based on probable cause.”
Any information “obtained in violation” of the new law is banned from use in any “criminal, civil, administrative, or other proceeding” in the state of New Hampshire.
Little by little, rather than by one dramatic move, the people will restore their rights. Every inch of the way, D.C. will be opposing them. And there's nothing the Feds can do about it.

What was once viewed as insanity is now policy

Problem: An "immigration tsunami" is surging over the Mexican border, overwhelming the Border Patrol and straining the capacity of local towns to house and feed an army of illegal aliens.

Solution: Keep the invaders from crossing the border by bringing them directly into the U.S. No, really:

The Obama administration is weighing giving refugee status to young people from Honduras as part of a plan to slow the influx of unaccompanied minors arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border, White House officials said Thursday.
The plan would involve screening youths in Honduras, one of the world's most violent nations, to determine whether they qualify for refugee status. Similar in-country screening programs were set up in East Asia after the Vietnam War and in Haiti in the 1990s.

I'm sure that if you asked Obama to handle your home security, he'd stop burglars from breaking into your house by removing all the doors and windows. Brilliant!

Apparently, some people can't wait for the glorious dawning of 2050, so they're trying to nudge things along.

Israel to be investigated for possible 'war crimes' over Gaza raids

The grim news just keeps on coming out of the Middle East:

Navi Pillay said Tel Aviv's two-week onslaught on Gaza - which has cost more than 650 Palestinians lives - would be thoroughly investigated.
Ms Pillay, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said the attacks have destroyed houses and hospitals and killed civilians.
"These are just a few examples where there seems to be a strong possibility that international humanitarian law has been violated, in a manner that could amount to war crimes.
"Every one of these incidents must be properly and independently investigated."
According to Gaza officials, 475 houses have been destroyed and 2,644 damaged, while 46 schools, 56 mosques and seven hospitals have been struck.
And if Israel is found guilty of war crimes, what other rogue nation will be complicit? Here's a hint:

U.S. Senate Democrats included $225 million for Israel's Iron Dome rocket interception system in an emergency funding bill on Tuesday that also cut $1 billion from President Barack Obama's request for $3.7 billion to deal with thousands of undocumented child immigrants.
"Israel is an essential American ally and needs these assets to defend itself," said Maryland Democratic Senator Barbara Mikulski, chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, in a statement.
Yeah, I hear you - that $225 million is for rocket interceptors. But money is fungible, so whatever tax dollars D.C. tosses at Israel for Iron Dome could be used to blow up some more Palestinian hospitals.

And could someone, anyone, please explain why wealthy Israel should expect American taxpayers to pay for this? Let them get the loan from China themselves.

Detroit water shutoffs are racially motivated, lawsuit claims

If you apply the standard of "disparate impact" to this case, then it's a slam dunk of blatant discrimination. After all, Blacks in Detroit are getting their water cut off disproportionately to Whites. So now the NAACP is on the case:

Attorney Alice Jennings, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of Detroit residents, said the shutoffs were a racial issue.
“These companies are basically Caucasian companies,” she told the station. “The folks who are being cut off are almost one hundred percent African-American.”
Detroit announced Monday that it would suspend its aggressive policy of cutting off water for the next 15 days, but the NAACP Legal Defense Fund said in a press release Monday that it’s not enough. They also want the financial aid program for Detroit’s neediest people to be reformed.
The city of Detroit buckled under to the implied threats, but I wonder what would have happened if it had stuck to its "aggressive policy" of insisting customers pay their bills?

This response from the city is priceless:

City of Detroit Water And Sewerage Department Deputy Director, Darryl Latimer, said every account corporate or private is treated the same, adding that the water department does what they can to work with those who come forward and address their hardship situation.
“The majority of our customers (who) are in delinquency status, they just built a culture of ,’You’re not making me pay— I am not going to pay’,” said Latimer.

So the latest front in the ongoing Civil Rights War is protecting Blacks who refuse to pay their water bills. Wow. How much longer can the Race Card be played until its spending limit has been shattered? Apparently, the NAACP believes that limits are racist and must be ignored.

Philadelphia mosque leaders try to cut off man's hand

When immigrants cross the border and enter the Exceptional Nation ™, they magically transform into Americans, and instantly embrace our traditions, including the rule of law.

Or so say proponents of unlimited immigration. Here in the real world, Third-World people behave like Third-World people, whether they're in Mosul or Philadelphia. From Reuters:
Two men described as leaders of a Philadelphia mosque were accused of trying to cut off the hand of a suspected thief, whose wrist was sliced so deeply it required hospital treatment, police said on Friday. The 46-year-old victim said two officials in the mosque accused him of stealing jars of money from the house of worship after morning prayers on Monday. The officials, described in police reports as the mosque's imam and amir, dragged the victim to the rear of the mosque, and attempted to chop off his hand with a machete, according to a police statement.
Notice that these men were NOT two ordinary yahoos who took it upon themselves to mete our Islamic justice to an American. They were leaders in the mosque, and are therefore representative of other Muslims.

Better get used to stories like this. We're going to be seeing more and more such incidents.

The Right to Secede

Here's a great introduction to secession as the ultimate defense against a tyrannical government. It's from the Sons of Confederate Veterans:

Among the Founding Fathers there was no doubt. The United States had just seceded from the British Empire, exercising the right of the people to “alter or abolish” — by force, if necessary — a despotic government. The Declaration of Independence is the most famous act of secession in our history, though modern rhetoric makes “secession” sound somehow different from, and more sinister than, claiming independence.

The original 13 states formed a “Confederation,” under which each state retained its “sovereignty, freedom, and independence.” The Constitution didn’t change this; each sovereign state was free to reject the Constitution. The new powers of the federal government were “granted” and “delegated” by the states, which implies that the states were prior and superior to the federal government.
There are many, many distractions, snares, and delusions in the political marketplace these days, so reminders of basic principles are vital. I want to gag when I hear someone claim we need to elect "good Republicans" to get D.C. off our back. Then there are the sovereign citizens, the "re-establishment" loonies, anarchists, libertarians, etc. For every problem there are a dozen or so useless "solutions." Let's stick to the ones that have actually been shown to work here in the real world.

Rep. Luis Gutierrez asks Obama to “stop the deportation of our people”

Those bad ol' xenophobes claimed the fresh-faced "Dreamers" were just the tip of the iceberg. "Let the kids stay, and they'll be used to smuggle in dozens of others." Such fearmongering was harshly denounced. But now Representative Luis Gutierrez agrees that the "children" are just priming the pump for the coming floodtide. Gutierrez said this to the National Council of Das Volk, I mean, La Raza:

“You gave us a down payment when you freed 600,000 DREAMers from deportation,” he said, Breitbart reported. “Now it is time for the president in the United States … [to] free the moms and dads of the DREAMers. And to go further. Be broad and expansive and generous.”

He also said that providing amnesty for 100,000 illegals was “not expansive” enough, calling for Mr. Obama to grant amnesty to “millions of our undocumented.”
I'm sure Senor Obama will be most generous with our country.

Governor Perry sends Texas National Guard to protect the border

Finally, a governor takes charge of his State's borders:

Monday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) announced he is deploying 1,000 Texas National Guard to the U.S. border with Mexico, saying he can not idly sit by while "our citizens are under siege."

Pointing out the tens of thousands pf unaccompanied minors only make up roughly 20 percent of those being apprehended illegally crossing the border, Perry said he can no longer wait for the president to act as gang members and drug cartels flood into Texas, causing crime to skyrocket. Perry pointed out Texas tax payers can not bear the expense of processing and housing the surge of illegal immigration caused by President Obama's 2012 executive action "Dream Act" which has given people in Central America the idea children will be allowed to stay once in the U.S.
The only way Texas - or any other State - can fight this D.C.-sponsored invasion is to reclaim all powers delegated to the federal government.

The D.C. Empire's tombstone will say "Killed by its own ideology."

Americans turn away from Empire

D.C.'s policy of endless war just isn't fun any more. As Americans gaze in horror at the aftermaths of the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, they're realizing that (1) their government deliberately lied to them and (2), their government is run by megalomaniacs who don't know what the hell they're doing. So Americans have withdrawn their consent to wage war in their name:

Amid deepening violence across Eastern Europe and the Middle East, Americans are recoiling from direct engagement overseas and oppose U.S. involvement in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine by large margins, according to a POLITICO poll of 2014 battleground voters. ...

More than three-quarters of likely voters say they support plans to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2016. Only 23 percent oppose the plan.

Forty-four percent of likely voters favor less involvement in Iraq’s civil war, versus 19 percent who favor more involvement and 23 percent who say the current level of involvement is appropriate.
This outbreak of mass sanity has the warmongers in a perfect funk. Here's Robert Fulford:

The slow American withdrawal from world affairs has been apparent for a long time, but has never been so glaringly evident as this week in the Middle East....

The context for the change in America’s international role was provided by a Pew Research Center poll in December. It determined that more than half of Americans now think the United States should mind its own business and let other countries “get along the best they can on their own” — the highest number since Pew began raising that issue 40 years ago. Robert Kagan, the author of The World America Made, believes Americans feel an uneasy desire to shed the burdens that their country assumed from 1941 to the end of the Cold War. Many Americans imagine they would be happier in a “normal” kind of America, a nation more attuned to its own needs, less to those of the wider world.
Fulford pines for the days when, in Michael Ledeen's infamous formula, "Every ten years or so, the United States needs to pick up some small crappy little country and throw it against the wall, just to show the world we mean business." Ah, yes. Good times. But now the party's over, and Fulford urges Americans to get back in touch with their inner Neocon again, because, "Unquestionably, America’s strength, wielded carelessly, can cause great trouble. But since the 1940s it has done the world far more good than harm. In this waning period, the global future looks increasingly dire."

In WHAT alternate universe has U.S. intervention done more good than harm? Here's a partial list of the lives the D.C. Empire has snuffed out in THIS universe:

- Vietnam, 1960-75 -- Two million Vietnamese killed in longest US war.
- Indonesia, 1965 -- CIA-backed overthrow of Sukarno in 1965 resulted in estimated death of one million people.
- Cambodia, 1969-75 -- US carpet bombing killed two million people.
- El Salvador, 1981-92 -- troops and air power assisted death squads, 75,000 people killed.
- Serbia -- Clinton's 'Wag the Dog' Air War in 1999 killed 6,000 Serbian troops and 2,000 civilians.
- Iraq -- US-led sanctions result in the estimated deaths of over one million civilians, from 1990 to 2003. And the Iraqi invasion and occupation has killed over 700 US troops, 5,000 Iraqi troops, and 8,000 civilians.

Now that Americans have rejected D.C.'s foreign agenda, we need to reject the flip side of empire, which is the globalization of the American homeland (multiculturalism). And thank God, there are signs that's happening, too. Know hope.

Why do we need borders?

To answer that question, just look at what happens when border security collapses. The ongoing crisis on the southwest border with Mexico paints a stark picture:

The federal government is so overwhelmed by the current tide of migrants crossing the border it can’t provide basic medical screening to all of the children before transporting them – often by air – to longer-term holding facilities across the country, ABC News has learned.

The director of refugee health in the federal Health and Human Services Department “has identified a breakdown of the medical screening processes at the Nogales, Arizona, facility,” according to an internal Department of Defense memo reviewed by ABC News. The “breakdown” a systemic failure of the handoff of these children between CBP and HHS.
Now imagine what would happen if these people were shipped to unknown places all over the country. Oh, wait, we don't have to imagine it - it's happening.

Forget xenophobia - our problem is mysophobia.

Immigration concerns surged in July

The latest Gallup poll reveals that immigration is the top concern of Americans. That's a healthy trend; while Official Groupthink would have us believe an alien invasion is a good thing (Yay! More Americans!), the truth is that an influx of uneducated dependents is an evil to be defended against.

Almost as interesting are the other top concerns: Disgust with Congress is a close second, followed by the economy, health care, and the federal deficit.

In other words, almost everything D.C. does is a problem. What's the solution to such a problem?

From a concerned reader

Old Rebel,

Who stands to gain and who stands to lose by convincing the world that pro-Russian forces shot down that airliner over the Ukraine?  Why would the separatists take a shot at a plane flying at over 30,000 feet (cruising altitude, far from origin or destination)?  What threat is such an aircraft to them?  What do they have that could even reach it?  Could any man portable ground to air weapon do that?  Do the separatists have a sophisticated air defense system?  Or do the Ukranians have an air defense system capable of that?  Could the West have supplied such a system?  Would it serve American purposes to have the world believe the pro-Russian forces shot it down?

Just spitballing some questions that came to me...  We'll never know the truth.  We do know this much, however:  the US government systematically lies about everything. When it sticks its big nose into the investigation and issues the "final statement on the matter" sometime in the future, you will know this much:  THAT is NOT the truth!

If you decide to pose these questions to the readership, please don't use my name or nom de guerre. I'm in deep enough as it is! Then again they are probably already reading this before I even send it, har har.

You and Dr. Hill are my bellwethers - when either of you drops off the radar screen or has an "accident", I'll know it is time to sandbag my house!

Bashing right-wingers for fun and (mostly) profit

The corporate press always gives the SPLC a free ride, swallowing their every pronouncement as the unvarnished truth. Rare is the reporter who checks the SPLC's allegations, and rarer still is the one who probes the fear-mongering tales the SPLC releases for publications. Here's a critical look at the half-truths and bombast the SPLC uses to boost its obscene profits:

SPCL is a multimillion-dollar leftist organization built on direct marketing and scare tactics, having little to do with poverty or law. It touts itself as “a nonprofit organization that combats hate, intolerance and discrimination through education and litigation.” Yet it spreads hate and intolerance with vile innuendo and speculation. It also inflates its hate group count by counting every chapter in every state as a separate group.
You'll definitely want to read the whole thing and bookmark it. It's a classic take-down.

Quote of the day

“What I learned is never trust the Wizard.” Peggy Joseph, former Obama supporter.

Who? Oh, you remember Peggy:

Connecticut says "No!" to housing illegal aliens

Isn't this interesting? New England has no problem with illegals pouring into Texas or Arizona, but rejects them from their own backyard:

The administration of Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-WFP) has denied a request from federal officials to temporarily house up to 2,000 illegal immigrant children from Central America at a residence in his state for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
I'm sure these New Englanders are doing this for the illegals' own good. They'll be more comfortable in a Sunbelt State than they would in frosty New England. Yeah, that's it.

A surge too far?

Looks like the Open Borders crowd underestimated the reaction to their latest surge of illegal alien invaders. Guess they expected shell-shocked, dispirited Americans to roll over and let the Camp of the Saints occupation proceed. Clearly, D.C. is on the side of the invaders, so folks are taking matters into their own hands:

Citizens in Westminster, Maryland; Oracle, Arizona; Vassar, Michigan; Greece, New York, and many other places have blocked the importation of illegal aliens into their communities through public protests, letters and official resolutions from elected leaders.
The invasion is in our own backyard, and that's where we must focus our efforts. Electing anyone, and I do mean ANYONE, to Congress or the Senate is a WASTE OF TIME. We have to work through our local governments to accomplish anything. Fortunately, people are starting to get it.

Seceding from America topic of 'Saving Texas'

In addition to all the exciting news about reclaiming self-determination, we now have a first-rate novel exploring the idea of secession. Saving Texas uses one of the more likely scenarios, that of Texas seceding from D.C.'s corrupt, wasteful bureaucracy:

Maps are not etched in stone, whether in Ukraine or modern-day Texas. In her debut novel, "Saving Texas," veteran journalist Nancy Stancill immerses her readers into a Texas gubernatorial campaign to secede from the union.

Stancill capitalizes on her years of experience as an investigative reporter in creating ambitious reporter Annie Price who chooses to profile a charismatic West Texan candidate, Tom Marr. Annie's research and interviews lead her beyond Marr's campaign to shepherd his state of Texas out of the union and into becoming an independent "country." Assassins, corruption, love and betrayal add to this fast-paced story.
With the federal government's ongoing (and escalating) border security crisis, the idea of State-by-State secession is beginning to make more sense. D.C. politicians don't care about the border States, while folks who live there are the ones who have to contend with this invasion.

State Secession: Six Californias Initiative Lives!

Of course, as with any rational and fair idea, there's opposition from the vested interests:

A divided California without the wealth producers of tech would be markedly poorer, and wealth redistributors wouldn’t like that. So there would be a liberal establishment backlash if the Six scheme got any traction with the voters. Plus Washington would have to agree — that would never happen.

But the initiative might shake things up a bit.
Yes, these are baby steps toward REAL self-determination, and the writer's prediction that this will be quased by D.C. is surely correct. But how long can the central government deny self-government to the Empire's increasingly fractious groups?

N.C. Renegade edited this clip from a classic Star Trek episode that lays out the issue rather neatly:

Mirror Spock: I shall operate the transporter. You have two minutes and ten seconds.

Captain James T. Kirk: In that time, I have something to say. How long before the Halkan prediction of galactic revolt is realized?

Mirror Spock: Approximately two hundred and forty years.

Captain James T. Kirk: The inevitable outcome?

Mirror Spock: The Empire shall be overthrown, of course.

Captain James T. Kirk: The illogic of waste, Mr. Spock. A waste of lives, potential, resources, time. I submit to you that your Empire is illogical because it cannot endure. I submit that *you* are illogical to be a willing part of it.

White House: Immigrant children facing danger will 'likely' stay in US

What joyous news! The Democratic Party is proud to announce a birth - of 50,000 new voters:

The White House said Monday it was “likely” that immigrant children facing mortal danger in their home countries would be allowed to stay in the United States.

The comments come amid a growing debate over a 2008 law that allows many of the children flooding across the southern border an automatic asylum hearing.

“These children will — and other immigrants who are attempting to enter the country without documentation — will go through the immigration process and that means their claims of asylum will be considered by an immigration judge and by asylum officials,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday.
Notice how Josh Earnest (!) slipped in that little comment about how this surge of diversity will include "other immigrants who are attempting to enter the country without documentation." After all, we need someone to look after these kids. MS-13 can't do it all by themselves.

Nancy Pelosi said the floodtide of Latinos massing on border areas is not a crisis, but an "opportunity." She was right - the eager young men of Mara Salvatrucha see this as the recruiting opportunity of a lifetime:

Note that it's not VDare or FAIR pointing out the long-term damage being done here, but an ABC News affiliate. Yes, this "opportunity" is so dire, even the mainstream media has to acknowledge it.

Holder keeps his promise!

A recent story revealed that our esteemed Attorney General sees dissent against Obama's political agenda as evidence of "racism": Holder sees 'racial animus' in opposition

So we have to wonder if this latest Department of Justice investigation was prompted by Holder's, um, unique theory of justice:

The U.S. Department of Justice has sent a member of its Community Relations Service team to investigate a Nebraska parade float that criticized President Obama.

A Fourth of July parade float featured at the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk sparked criticism when it depicted a zombie-like figure resembling Mr. Obama standing outside an outhouse, which was labeled the “Obama Presidential Library.”
I suppose "racial animus" motivated that float. After all, Obama is the first president to have his official library mocked as an outhouse.

Sebesta bait

The Charlotte Observer has this story about a little ol' property for sale:

Want a South Carolina plantation? For $4 million, it's all yours

The 1,500 acre Wedge Plantation on the banks of the Santee River. Owned by The University of South Carolina, the plantation property consists of a 4-story plantation house, stables and several smaller buildings

Today, The Wedge remains for sale, and Oliver Dominick is keen on helping to shape the plantation’s future, no matter who its next owner might be.
I've got the mint julep cups. Now if I can just round up $4 million Yankee dollars...

MURRIETA: City hires a crisis management adviser

Things are getting so heated in Murietta, California, that the mayor has had to hire a "Crisis Management Adviser." His name is Xavier Hermosillo:

It’s no mystery why Hermosillo’s services are needed.

Since angry anti-illegal immigration protesters at the Murrieta U.S. Border Patrol Station turned away a convoy of buses carrying migrants flown in from Texas July 1, the city in general and the mayor, in particular, have been criticized in the national – even international – media. Some have accused Long of encouraging protesters to thwart the buses.
Think Mr. Hermosillo will work to defend the border? Think again - he has a long history of advocating "Reconquista," though he's never used the term. Hermosillo celebrates the rising tide of Latinos who are re-defining the demographics of Los Angeles. From the Los Angeles Times:

Asked about the growing Latino presence, he reminded viewers that L.A. once belonged to Mexico. Then came another one of his body blows. "We are taking (the city) house by house . . . block by block." His advice: "Better wake up and smell the refried beans."

Hermosillo, knowing that his comments infuriate black leaders as well as some Latino elected officials, says he is not a racist. "I'm a realist," he insists.
When a White notices certain facts, he's a racist. When a Latino notices the same facts, he's a realist.

Welcome to the Reconquista.

Obama threatens Congress

Either subsidize the 50,000+ illegals who've invaded the U.S., or we'll let even more in. There's just no other way to interpret this:

President Obama’s new border spending request will pay for schooling, health care and lawyers for the unaccompanied illegal immigrant children surging across the border, officials told Congress on Thursday as they pleaded for quick action on the $3.7 billion package.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Congress must approve the money this month, saying that if nothing is done before lawmakers leave for a monthlong August vacation, one of his agencies will have to cut its other immigration enforcement in order to hold and transport the children.
Forget 2043 - Whites will be a minority in their own country by the end of Obama's term.

Quote of the day

"We libertarians were wrong. Societal liberty simply cannot be maximized through sexual anarchy any more than it can be maximized though unrestricted immigration, unrestricted government, or unrestricted voting. In retrospect, this should always have been obvious: if everything goes, then literally everything will go." - Theodore Beale

A slow news day at Diversity, Inc.

Here's what the Perpetually Outraged® have to resort to these days. At Chicago's Cellular Field, the White Sox handed out ponchos when rain started falling. Some liberal wienie thought the fans looked like Klansmen, and issued a breathless alert that the Klan had taken over. Diversity, Inc. condemned what it called an "Unfortunate Giveaway":

It's so sad, it's hilarious.

The SPLC's business model

Judging from the tons of money they roll in monthly, and from the power behind the throne they wield, it looks like the SPLC adapted its business model from the Spanish Inquisition, which was an outsourced censor of "dangerous" ideas (i.e., ideas that questioned the legitimacy of the existing power structure). nails it:

Though posing as an anti-racist monitoring institution, the SPLC’s primary concern has never been the KKK or “White Identity”. Rather, the SPLC’s job has been and always will be to marginalize and defame those who stand against centralized federal power, regardless of how corrupt that power has become. They are not anti-racists, or liberals, or concerned citizens; they are STATISTS, who only care about maintaining the superiority of a government that has been bought and paid for many times over by a gaggle of international financiers with delusions of godhood.

Israel pounds Gaza for third straight day

The one-sidedness of the never-ending Mid-East meat grinder has reached the level of a tragicomedy. The latest body count is head-shakingly bizarre, 80 85 to 0:

The death toll in Gaza jumped overnight, doubling to 80 dead and more than 500 injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The latest fatality was 5-year-old Abdullah Abu Gazal, who was killed in a midmorning Israeli airstrike in Beit Lahia.

For its part, Hamas and other militant factions continued firing rockets indiscriminately at Israeli population centers. Sirens sounded in towns and cities across southern and central Israel on Thursday as dozens of rockets hit. No deaths or injuries were reported.
Looks like we're going to continue the same pattern in Israeli-Palestinian warfare: Israeli jets, bought and paid for by U.S. taxpayers, hammer Palestinian homes. The Palestinians run to the Fireworks Barn in Fort Mill, South Carolina, smuggle them back home, and light them hoping they'll hit more Israelis than Palestinians. Hell of a way to run a war.

Right-Wing Mayor Nullifies Federal Law, SPLC Condemns "Extremism"

I'm sorry, I got the headline wrong. Here's the actual headline from CBS News:

LAPD To No Longer Comply With Feds On Immigration Hold Requests

And here's the story:

The Los Angeles Police Department will no longer comply with federal immigration detainer requests issued without judicial review, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Monday. ...

Police and city officials have been under pressure from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to hold on to illegal immigrants arrested for low-level crimes.

In October 2012, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced the LAPD would no longer grant an ICE Detainer Request “without first reviewing the seriousness of the offense for which the person is being held, as well as their prior arrest history and gang involvement.”

The move came after the City Attorney’s Office advised Beck that honoring requests made by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were at the discretion of local police departments, Beck said at the time.
I keep forgetting that nullification is okay if done for the "right" reasons.

"Male and female, the task has got to be the same. Combat readiness will not be compromised. If we get this right, combat readiness will improve. And the second thing, we're not going to lower standards." Marine Lt. Col. Michael Samarov on women in the infantry.

This is the latest front in D.C.'s ongoing War on Reality. Do they REALLY think a 120-pound woman can drag a wounded 200-pound man to safety?

Federal judge decrees illegal immigrants in Arizona have a right to driver's license

Darned if I can find the constitutional amendment that delegates the regulation of driving to the federal government. Is there anything D.C. can't do?

The Latest Snowden Leak Is Devastating to NSA Defenders

No one can argue NSA domestic spying hasn't violated anyone's privacy, since Snowden's latest disclosure proves 10,000 citizens had personal information lifted and sifted by NSA goons:

Consider the latest leak sourced to Edward Snowden from the perspective of his detractors. The National Security Agency's defenders would have us believe that Snowden is a thief and a criminal at best, and perhaps a traitorous Russian spy. In their telling, the NSA carries out its mission lawfully, honorably, and without unduly compromising the privacy of innocents. For that reason, they regard Snowden's actions as a wrongheaded slur campaign premised on lies and exaggerations.

But their narrative now contradicts itself. The Washington Post's latest article drawing on Snowden's leaked cache of documents includes files "described as useless by the analysts but nonetheless retained" that "tell stories of love and heartbreak, illicit sexual liaisons, mental-health crises, political and religious conversions, financial anxieties and disappointed hopes. The daily lives of more than 10,000 account holders who were not targeted are catalogued and recorded nevertheless."
Both the housebroken left and right have fumed that Edward Snowden, not "our" beloved government, is the real criminal. But what do you want to bet that both continue to parrot their particular party line despite this latest bombshell?

Poll: Americans Oppose 2003 Iraq Invasion, Oppose Going Back

Sad news for the global democratic revolution - the serfs who have to pay for D.C.'s wars don't support them any more:

A new Quinnipiac poll offers yet more confirmation of public sentiment against a new war in Iraq, with 61% saying the 2003 invasion of Iraq was wrong and 63% saying they oppose the policy of sending ground troops now.

The polls went further than just touching on Iraq’s wars, past and present. 64% of Americans polled also said that the United States is “doing too much in other countries” and should focus on domestic issues instead of foreign interventions.
But as the article makes clear, this won't have any effect on Obama's continuing escalation in Iraq or anywhere else. "Democracy" sounds nice, and makes a nifty cover for boosting D.C.'s power, but is never allowed to get in the way of the real business of government.

By the way, I'd argue D.C. is also "doing too much" in THIS country, from fomenting demographic revolution to illegal surveillance. Think "democracy" is going to restrain either one?

Will the Feds Invade Murietta, California on July 7th?

Al Benson Jr. is worried. After all, as he reminds us, it's happened before. Is it time once again for D.C. to re-assert its sovereignty over the serfs? Strange days indeed@

Border Meltdown: Obama Delivering 290,000 Illegals To U.S. Homes

Here they come, ready or not:

The vast majority of 50,000 unaccompanied youths and children who have illegally crossed the Texas border during the last few months have been successfully delivered by federal agencies to their relatives living in the United States, according to a New York Times article.

A second New York Times article report revealed that officials have caught an additional 240,000 Central American migrants since April, and are transporting many of them to their destinations throughout the United States.

The 290,000 illegals — so far — are exploiting legal loopholes that allow them to get temporary permits to stay in the United States.

Experts say that President Barack Obama’s administration has failed to close the loopholes and is unlikely to deport more than a small percentage of the illegals, despite the high unemployment rates among American Latino, African-American and white youths, and the strapped budgets of many cities and towns.

City may ask Obama to curb deportations

The eeevil federal government should back off and quit imposing its one-size-fits-all standards on everyone. So says City Councilwoman Regina Romero of Tucson:

“All of these things are ever-present in our community,” Romero said. “But now more than ever we’re seeing the results of a broken immigration system and how it’s affecting the local community.”

“The humanitarian crisis happening in Nogales, the people being dropped off at the bus station, and families being torn apart every day by our broken immigration policy — is a local issue. It is a city issue,” she said.
And Romero is joined by others with a TOTALLY OBJECTIVE interest in doing what's right for the LOCAL COMMUNITY. In addition to Regina Romero, others mentioned in the article who want a local solution to the immigration crisis include U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva and Juanita Molina, Border Action Network executive director.

What do these three have in common?

That's right - they are all loyal Americans who want this country strengthened by a caring, inclusive immigration policy. Because Diversity.

Obama's Two-Front War

Interesting, isn't it, how tactics and objectives dovetail in D.C.'s ever-escalating war to impose multiculturalism at home and abroad? In defense of the principle of "inclusion" in Iraq, Obama is quietly ramping up efforts to prop up D.C.'s puppet regime in Baghdad:

Monday of this week, the first combat troops came, with the promise now shifting to a “no combat missions” one.

Even that seems absurd, as the Pentagon sends Apache attack helicopters into Iraq for the combat troops to use in these “non-combat” missions. The administration appears to recognize the unpopularity of a new Iraq War, but seems determined to escalate quietly until it is no longer a potential move to warn against, but a simple reality.
Similarly, Obama's response to the invasion of our southwest border is to present defenders of traditional America with a fait accompli of a Third-World occupation that will impose "inclusiveness" on the American people:

“Either we’re going to enforce our laws and remain strong, economically or otherwise, or we ignore the rule of law and go to being a Third World country,” Rep. Louie Gohmert, a Republican, told Fox News. “You’ve got to follow the law. You cannot bring hundreds of thousands of people in this country without destroying the country. Then there’s no place that people can dream about coming.”

No one knows this better than Barack Obama. Making the United States over into a Third World country is exactly what this president is about. He is of the Third World. He spent his formative years in the Third World, and when his mother, obsessed with the Third World, brought him back to America, he sought out the company of those who dreamed of making America over into the world’s largest welfare state.
You have to feel for the patriotic protesters in Murietta standing up to the government's importation of tax-consuming invaders. But they're trying to defend a nation that NO LONGER EXISTS. It's past time trying to reform D.C. and imagining we're going to shame the federal government into protecting and representing us. That's exactly the opposite of what the powers that be want.

It's time for a hundred mighty secession movements to rise up and form governments that represent them and their interests. The first step is to recognize the utter illegitimacy of the corrupt regime in D.C. The good news is that only 21% of Americans believe the federal government is based on the consent of the governed. Do the math, and you'll see that we're half-way to the goal of self-determination.

Quote of the day

"Ladies and gentlemen, ultimately that's what we're celebrating today — the continuation of the expansion of the notion that all men are created equal. You should be able to marry whomever you love. The landmark events we celebrate today make clear that the narrow minded and reactionary forces of the past and the present will never prevail in America.” Joe Biden, in his Fourth of July speech in Philadelphia.

One nation, divisible?

It's getting hard to keep track of all the commentary on secession and the break-up of the U.S. Now even the liberal-leaning Slate is chiming in:

Could America break apart along religious lines, with devout Christians going one way and the rest of us going another? Think of the old “Jesusland” meme—the map of a North America divided between “Jesusland,” the states that backed George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election, and “the United States of Canada,” consisting of the states that backed John Kerry and Canada that delighted liberals enraged by Bush’s re-election. At least some devout religious believers fear that as the ranks of the religiously unaffiliated grow, and as secular Americans insist on imposing their values on others, the faithful might face persecution. In 2000, Father John McCloskey, a conservative Catholic with a polarizing reputation, penned a controversial fictional take on how America might break apart. In it, a new religiously infused country, the Regional States of North America, secedes from the United States in the wake of a “short and relatively bloodless conflict” with their secularist oppressors.

Federal Gov’t Sues Wisconsin Company, Says English-Language Requirement is 'Discrimination'

If there were any doubt as to whether D.C. had declared war on traditional America, stories like this ought to clear things up:

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a federal agency tasked with enforcing workplace discrimination laws, is suing a private American business for firing a group of Hispanic and Asian employees over their inability to speak English at work, claiming that the English-language requirement in a U.S. business constitutes “discrimination.”
Of course it's "discrimination." I discriminate when I eat steak rather than rat poison. Without the power to discriminate, life ends.

As the powers that be well know...

Showdown: California town turns away buses of detained immigrants

Once again, we're seeing how effective opposition to floodtide immigration is best done at the local level -- even in California:

"This is a failure to enforce federal law at the federal level," Mayor Alan Long said in a statement Monday about the pending arrival of the 140 immigrants to the U.S. Border Patrol station. "Murrieta continues to object to the transfer of illegal immigrants to the local border patrol office." ...

Long said that neither side in the national debate is coming up with a solution: "The problem still is there. The problem is in Washington, D.C."
I'd make a slight editorial change to Mayor Long's analysis: Washington, D.C. IS THE PROBLEM.

Is Southern secession feasible?

The following is an email from a reader who just attended a seminar on international trade:

The South is in a very well leveraged position for our economic independence.

Were you aware that two-thirds of all automotive manufacturing plants in the united States are in the South? Mostly in the deep Southern States.

I learned from another attendee who is familiar with Nissan officials that the South is favored for several reasons:

1) Southerners are more polite.

2) Southerners have a greater respect for tradition.

3) Southerners have a deeper connection to the soil/land.

4) Lastly, the Japanese identify with Southerners because we also lost a war!

But remember, the South could never survive without D.C.'s deficits and endless wars and government-sponsored demographic upheaval. Only a silly, silly person would imagine such a thing.

Thanks to loyal reader David for forwarding!

Burger King sells "gay pride Whopper"

There's a great joke in this somewhere, but darned if I can think of one. See what you think about the latest corporate love letter to the homosexual lobby:

Burger King has concocted yet another way to have it your way: a gay pride burger.

The Proud Whopper, as it's called, comes wrapped in a rainbow colored wrapper with this inscription: "We are all the same inside." It will be sold through Thursday at one Burger King restaurant on San Francisco's Market Street, that was at the heart of the route for last weekend's 44th annual San Francisco Pride Celebration & Parade.
Apparently, America's moral compass now points toward San Francisco.

US Troops Will Fly Attack Helicopters in Iraq

Can you say "escalation"? Looks like things are heating up in Iraq:

While continuing to insist they are trying to keep their involvement limited to “advisory” operations, the Pentagon continues to pour military equipment into Iraq, with US combat troops on the ground to carry out this new Iraq War.

Today, the Pentagon is rushing Apache attack helicopters to Baghdad, along with more Shadow drones, couching it as a move to prepare for a possible evacuation of the US Embassy.

Yet far from being focused on the embassy itself, officials say the US ground troops will be operating the helicopter gunships to “protect US interests” in and around Baghdad.
Who's ready for another magnificent victory for the forces of democracy? Cue Wagner!

Mexicans face off against Americans in California

Watch this video (embedding disabled) and see if you think the outcome will be a Kumbaya group hug or escalating ethnic tension.

This is what happens when borders aren't maintained.

Here's another report from CBS:

Is this Ellis Island, 2014, or is it the Camp of the Saints? If D.C. and big business get their way, we'll be a Third-World country in 15 years.

This makes perfect sense!

Loyal Americans should support Obama's war in Iraq because the "terror threat against US targets from #ISIS is 'extremely high.'"

And loyal Americans should also support amnesty for illegal aliens and continued immigration from Muslim countries.

My head hurts.

Quote of the day

“Either we’re going to enforce our law and remain strong economically and otherwise, or we ignore the rule of law and go to being a third world nation.” Rep. Louie Gohmert, Texas

More boots on the ground in Iraq

While usurping more political power at home by unilaterally redefining U.S. immigration policy, Obama is committing us to another ground war in Iraq.

So as the U.S. become more diverse, more lawless, more violent, and more imperial, the Temporary Dictator becomes more powerful.

Obama to invoke "Executive Authority" to bypass Congress on immigration

First of all, what's happening at the southern border is not "immigration," but a full-scale invasion. Obama has hogtied border security efforts by creating numerous loopholes preventing enforcement. No wonder so many illegals believe Obama has opened to gates to them.

It's comical that Obama blames Congress for the ongoing border crisis. And it's tragic that he's going to use it to mandate amnesty for the illegal alien invaders:

President Obama said Monday he would use his executive power to make potentially sweeping changes to the nation’s immigration system without Congress, acknowledging the death of his more than yearlong effort to enact compromise legislation granting legal status to 11 million immigrants here illegally.

Mr. Obama said he had ordered a shift of immigration enforcement resources from the interior of the country toward the southern border, and was asking his team to report back to him by the end of the summer on additional actions he could take. The actions could be as far-reaching as giving work permits and protection from deportation to millions of immigrants now in the country.
The ripple effects of this surge will be felt for decades. This story cannot end well.
